XCode 16 beta 3 "prebuild" never finishes

On any project that I open or create from scratch (SwiftUI) the "prebuild" that gets kicked off never finishes which results in the fact that I can not build the project.

If I use XCode 16 beta 2 everything works fine.

Thank you for sharing your experience! To help us better understand and resolve the issue, could you please do the following?

  1. Create a new project in Xcode 16 beta 3: Reproducing the problem in a fresh project would be incredibly valuable. Is the issue specific to one project you're working on, or does it occur in every new project you create?
  2. Provide output messages: Could you copy and paste the error messages or warning prompts you see when the build stops? These output messages usually contain crucial clues.
  3. Create a simple, focused bug report project: If possible, it would be helpful to create a separate, minimal project that demonstrates the issue. If you can do that, please consider sharing a link to the project here or uploading it to a secure service.

Apple's Feedback Assistant is the best place to submit detailed bug reports, especially for beta software like Xcode 16.

I would also ask you to please submit a complete bug report regarding this issue using Feedback Assistant (https://feedbackassistant.apple.com). For more information on Feedback Assistant, please visit https://developer.apple.com/bug-reporting.

Our engineering teams need to investigate this issue, as resolution may involve changes to Apple's software. Post the FB number here once you do. Bug Reporting: How and Why? has tips on creating your bug report.

face the same issue, cant build on macos15/xcode16 beta3. it will take a few minutes to start build since i click command + r

As the issue only happened on one machine and Xcode 15 and 16 were also hanging making a change to a specific code file I decided to re-install my Mac. It turns out that the issue was with some file in /Library. Now everything is working ok.
