Failed to prepare device

We are getting unreliable results on XCode Cloud tests. I'm not sure if it's related to the current service outage. I'm running a very simple XCTest UI suite, on some devices it succeds and it others it fails to start. I'm not getting a userful error message.

MyApp-Runner encountered an error (Failed to prepare device 'iPhone 16 Pro Max' for impending launch. (Underlying Error: Unable to boot the Simulator. launchd failed to respond. (Underlying Error: Failed to start launchd_sim: could not bind to session, launchd_sim may have crashed or quit responding)))

Hi, we have now mitigated this issue. Could you please try again? Apologies again for the inconvenience.

Just came to the forums to see if anyone else was having this too. Starting noticing this today and looked back at some previous build failures and it looks like it may have first started when we changed the macOS version we were using from 15.1 to 15.3, which we did as an attempt to get over a different unexplained random error. Ugh.

What's your macOS and Xcode versions in the workflows? We're setup with 15.3 and 16.2 respectively. Maybe there is a working combination that could be used as a workaround - this wouldn't be the first time certain combinations were problematic.

Hi, thank you for reaching out. We’re aware of the issue and our team is actively working on a fix. We appreciate your patience and will update you as soon as we have more information.

Same issue here. Tests are passing locally, and even appear to all pass in the attached logs. However XCC is reporting this same failure at the end of the run.
