Managed To Brick iPhone
keep us updated
I'd also done a DFU previously, rebooted and the phone was so sluggish on the welcome screen. Clicked home to continue and choose a language and the phone froze. Rebooted and got stuck in the endless loop. Just read the threads about Vodafone, pulled my SIM phone rebooted and booted to Welcome Screen. Now restoring from iCloud backup so all seems well! Thanks for the heads up on Vodafone. Very strange.
Cant imagine what it is about vodafone that is causing the problem.
I just took my voda sim out and put a 3 sim and it activated just fine and the phone was 100% functional.
Anyone have any crazy ideas?
Does it still work though when you put the Vodafone sim back in and reboot ? That is the bit I'm worried about..
My install of iOS 11 is still ongoing (using an EE Sim).. So should be able to test shortly - though at this rate......
What is also weird is I have a Vodafone SIM in my iPad and that works fine on iOS 11.
So it seems to be the iPhone, Vodafone and iOS 11 that doesn't work..
UPDATE: As soon as I put my Vodafone SIM back in the phone it crashes and only a reboot will fix it.
If I use my 3 SIM everything works fine, so definately something to do with Vodafone.
Okay my update... my installation of iOS11 is now complete and with an EE Sim it has worked straight away.
However, I then removed the EE Sim and put a Vodafone Sim into the iPhone - and within 5 seconds the iPhone had hung and wouldn't accept any button presses. I then removed the Vodafone Sim and put the EE back in and the phone came back to life again.
So in summary - you cannot use a Vodafone Sim currently.
I suggest everyone reports this to Apple.
I am on Vodafone and have the same issue on iPhone 7. iPad Pro worked fine
Well after 4 failed attempts I have given up for now. Anyone with a suggest of how to install? Yes I do have a Vodafone sim, not sure if this the reason though. ta
I've submitted a bug report, it must be due to Vodafone as carrier.
Are you on Vodafone UK? I had the same problem, even if you're not try installing without your sim. Unfortunately if that is the problem you won't be able to use that sim on iOS 11 until apple or your carrier introduces a fix. (Vodafone UK are useless for this)
Yes, its because connecting to the Cellular network is what causes the crash, data sims don't seem to have these problems.
iPad Pro (1st Generation) is running iOS 11 without issue (yet).
iPhone 7 Plus (Vodafone, don't see how that matters) - no joy, OTA, Update, Restore, nothing works. Stuck on spinner, stuck on Apple logo, almost got through setup once but then it rebooted to the boot loop of death again.
Reverted to iOS 10.3.3.
I've never had a serious issue with any iOS beta in the past. Real shame; was hoping to try it out with Watch OS 4 too.
Hi
Just pop out your Vodafone SIM on reboot and it shoud work. Trouble is you won't be able to use it if you put the sim back in.
Cheers
Dave
I've not installed IOS 11b1 yet (thankfully - I was close!) and have recently switched three->vodafone .....
A few possibilities
* The release notes call out issues with wifi calling. They only suggest some facilities like call forwarding may not work, but I wonder if this could be a factor. Worth trying disabling wifi calling in settings/phone, or perhaps getting the service removed by customer services?
* Unlike three I noticed vodafone install a profile onto the phone "contract wap" in my case. This may not be needed. could it be worth deleting?
* Could it be any of the vodafone apps installed on the phone?
* Could it be "my number" is null (unlikely - that must be common though my three one had a number)
Also worth mentioning what hardware, and whether a personal or corporate sim (corporate typically won't have wifi calling enabled, nor maybe the profile)
