MacBook Pro 13 Unusable after install. Just keeps restarting!

After installing the Mac OS 10.13 beta, my 2016 MacBook Pro 13-inch just keeps restarting. I have entered safe mode and evaluated all of the programs, but cannot duplicate. Once I restart into normal mode the computer crashes; over and over. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi. Yes, I am having the exact same problem. I have a late 2015 13” Retina MacBook Pro.

Not sure if you have Adobe Creative Suite installed, but it appears that everytime Creative Cloud loads, my system crashes.

I don’t have that installed. I’m on the phone with Apple support and she’s scratching her head too. Now when I try and do the CMD OPT SFT R for the last OS to install, the choice is Yosemite (even tho I had Sierra installed prior to this but hey whatever). But then when I try to install that, my hard drive doesn’t appear! I suspect because I let it convert it to the new file system...

Same issue with mid-2012 15" retina Macbook pro. I can boot into safe mode, but trying to boot normally leads to constant reboots.

Yeah same issue as well, but do not have the Adobe Creative Suite installed. Running on Early 2013 15" Retina Mackbook Pro. Trying to capture a diagnostic report but crashes before I'm able to complete the dump...and of course since its now running on APFS, I cant roll back to my previous OS. Hopefully someone discovers a fix, but until then I'll be looking for one myself.

Same here, late 2016 15” MBP, instant crash at end of reboot. Looks like apfs related, possibly FileVault?

Yep. Right when it asks me to type in my password for that encryption login screen before the user login screen... it loads to like 80% then kernal panics, then reboots.

Same problem here.

MacBook Pro 13” late 2016 with touch bar.

No Adobe Software installed.

Restarting after typing Password on the login screen.

Literally unplayable 😀

Same problem here macbook pro 2012 :-(

I was able to resolve the issue after doing a recovery reinstall of 10.3 beta. It took me two boots for the beta to show up instead of Sierra for the reinstall. But I believe what happened was the install failed, so that's why the kernal panics. Once you have a successful install, it works fine.

Idk if this is a thing, but I believe my second boot I did a safe recovery, I remember holding down a few more keys then command option r. I believe I did, command option, shift, r.

Hope that helps! Have fun on 10.3!

Spshulem, thanks, sounds interesting. Can you provide step by step details what exactly you did?

I found a solution that worked for me 🙂

Like dschuel75wrote in his post: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/78808 [Possible Solution: Kernel Panic after upgrading to 10.13]

It's because of my AV (Sophos Enterprise)

After removing the AV in safe mode (Hold SHIFT during the entire boot process) I could successfully use the MacBook again.

Attention:

It's not a good idea to reinstall the AV.

The problem appears again. 😟

Finally found resolution for my issue. I had a feeling this crash and boot loop was due to my AV program (Avast) installed on my Macbook Pro. Once I booted into Safe Boot, removed the application, booted back into production and logged in...no further issues with crashes and boot looping.

Not sure if its simply an incompatibility with the AV Program and the new APFS File System when it attempts a scan at startup, but once removed, no further crashes were encountered.

I would recommend, if you are having this issue, try removing any 3rd-Party applications which my launch at startup one at a time and see if the crashing stops.

Hope that helps...

How did you delete Sophos? mine is locked and cant delete
