Can't finish setup because dock won't go away

Dear all, I can't finish the setup for ios 11 beta 2 on my ipad air 2 The dock appears as soon as i start the set up process and i can't hide it. It's not letting me press the continue buttons on the iCloud analytics step or the dock introduction step because the dock blocks them

I'm seeing the same issue. I think it might be related to the rotation lock. It was on before I updated to the public beta.

There's no way to reset the iPad either since I can't turn off Find My iPhone..

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

same issue here. Any ideas?

I have the same issue

Found a solution!

However, you'll need a keyboard (I used a bluetooth keyboard, not the smart keyboard but I'm sure that will work too).

You'll need to enable Voice Over (3 clicks of the home button). Then tap on the UI item before where the "Continue" button should be. Using your keyboard, navigate to the "continue" button using the right arrow. Your ipad (im using a 9.7" ipad pro) will then confirm by saying "continue." You then double tap the accessibility box on your screen encompassing the hidden continue button. You then do this for the following screen as well.

Hope this helps!

Found a way to solve it:

- activate VoiceOver (via itunes for example: 'configure accessability' at the buttom of the ipad menu in itunes)

- Then navigate with swiping gestures (swipe right) to the hidden "continue button"

- When the button is selected double tab twice at an area (free space) where you can't select another object.

- Done

Thank you!

Same problem here - THANK YOU for being soo awesome!

I do have an easier way to enable VoiceOver - simply tap the home button three times quickly - then a box will highlight which area of the screen it's focused on. You'll need to use voiceover for a few more screens afterwards but the "continue/Yes" button will always be behind the menu bar - but the box can always be moved behind the menu bar by swiping right one or more times. Remember to double tap the screen once the box is around the button....that is behind the menu 🙂

Oops and remember to turn off voiceover after passing through the menus by simply triple-clicking the home button quickly.

I'm having the same problem on my iPad Pro 12.9. But I can't seem to get Voice Over to turn on when I tried to click on the home screen 3X. Am I doing something wrong? Right now. I'm dead in the water, can't get through the setup screen. My orientation lock is on and maybe this is why. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Khanh

I have the same issue, I can't finish the setup because of the dock. I tried swiping it away, no luck. I tried enabling the VoiceOver. No luck either. I should had remembered to turn off the auto-rotation lock before I did the setup.

Just found a another way. Restore you're iPad via iTunes. It will load few minutes but after that dock will be dissapear.

I happened to have Safari in the dock before upgrading, and found a way using it. Drag safari off to the right to open a window, and load any site. Tap the share button at the bottom and add the site to the home screen. Saving it cycled to the home screen and back to setup, getting rid of the dock.

I found another solution. You can still drag apps from the dock into main window (where one app hovers over another). If you're lucky enough to have an iphone only app in the dock, it will force the screen to rotate and reveal the buttons to proceed.

I found a solution as well, simliar to yours but instead of Safari, there was an app on the dock that was no longer working with iOS 11. I dragged it into the screen and bam! The dock disappeared and I was able to complete the setup.

Thanks this sorted me out

EASIEST SOLUTION for the dock block (ayy, i'm sorry)

don't mean to sound arrogant haha but here it goes

1. make sure you have safari on the dock (if you dont have it on dock, plug it to itunes and arrange your apps and put safari on the dock then sync)

2. hold it down and drag it to make a window

3. navigate to a web page

4. tap the share button and select add to home screen

5. youll go to home and be prompted right back to the setup screen now free of dock :-)

hope it helps guys :-D
