How can I get details on moderation removals?

I’ve had a series of replies, comments, and even an entire thread removed with no explanation. I assume they were moderated, but I haven’t received any reasons.

Is there a Forums support contact (email or chat) where I can ask for specifics on why they were removed?

I’d like to understand what’s triggering moderation so I can avoid it in the future.

Bump…would still love an answer to this.👆

Do you known of any specific posts that have been removed? Try searching for them using Google.

A while back, the back end for this forum was re-written based on the Apple Support Communities forum software after that had been re-written by Apple to replace a 3rd party product.

This new software has an annoying behaviour where older posts will drop off certain activity lists. So they may still be there, but you'll have to use Google to find them.

Generally speaking, this forum is very light on moderation.

In my case, I’m confident it was moderated.

You are correct. I can see what happened here, but I have no insight into why it happened. And this happened sufficiently long ago that I’m not able to investigate that further.

Moreover, due to a limitation of the forums platform, I’m not able to restore content that was mistakenly removed (r. 144511093).

If this happens again, please reply on this thread and I’ll take another look.

IMPORTANT Make sure to reply as a reply, rather than in the comments; see Quinn’s Top Ten DevForums Tips for this and other titbits.

Hello @DTS Engineer, thanks for confirming. 🙏

I did create this thread soon after it happened, so I guess it just got missed.

At the time, my only theory was that the thread was removed because I linked to it from a related thread:

https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/722874

The reply and/or comment containing that link, was also removed, which is why I think the April cross-post was the cause.

But from your helpful Quinn’s Top Ten DevForums Tips, it seems cross-posting is actually encouraged in that situation:

If you find a bunch of old threads that might be related to your issue, don’t post full replies to all of them. Pick a lead thread and post your full reply there, then reply on the other threads with a link to the lead thread.

Other than the cross-post, I’m at a loss for what might have caused the removal. I'd just like to understand what could trigger a moderation so I can avoid it in the future.

Is there a published list of things that can result in moderation?

Is there a published list of things that can result in moderation?

Not specifically. In general the moderators enforce the rules published in Apple Developer > Support > Developer Forums and Apple Developer Forums Agreement.
