Subscription Status - Missing Metadata

Hello Support Team member - I hope you are having a good day.

My app has been approved and I manually released it 8 hours ago. Currently users do not see the subscriptions available on the paywall, and the subscriptions do not show up under in-app purchases in the app store.

When I look at my subscriptions in AppStoreConnect - they say "Missing Metadata". When I look inside the subscriptions - one of the two has a localization that is showing a status of "Prepare for Submission". The other subscription does not have a localization - and there is nothing within the subscription that has a yellow warning alert.

How can I resolve this?

Thank you much!

Adding some notes as I work through this while waiting for Apple response:

Request for Apple:

  • Please make yellow status indicators clickable. I feel like I should be able to click "Missing Metadata" and have a pop-up show me specifically what metadata is missing.

Notes for others who find this while trying to solve similar/same problem:

  • It is possible for this to be broken even if you passed sandbox testing and Apple has approved your app for release. Highly recommend verifying in actual AppStore that in-app purchases display - especially before starting an ad campaign.

  • On the AppStoreConnect pages to set up subscription groups and individual subscriptions, treat every field as required - unless the field explicitly calls it out as optional. In my case - the status didn't change from missing metadata until I added localizations and Review Information Screenshot.

  • Review Information Screenshot - Size requirements: Image will not upload unless it adheres to the sizing constraints found here. Sizing constraints found here - Apple Documentation

  • in AppStoreConnect > Apps > Distribution > iOS App > {version you are releasing} - If you do not see your subscriptions under In-App Purchases and Subscriptions on this page - then your subscription/in-app purchase is not a part of your submission - and it will not show up in the AppStore. I was previously under the belief that I only needed to set up subscriptions on the page under Monetization from the left side menu bar.

  • This thread from the forum helped me a lot and contains more information about other things that need to be checked if it still isn't working for you.

Missing Metadata indicates your In-App Purchase has been created, but you have not yet uploaded a screenshot or completed your metadata. For more information, see In-App Purchase statuses. You need to complete all the missing metadata.

Confirm you set the price, localization, screenshot for your subscription. Be sure to set localization for the subscription group. For more information, see View and edit In-App Purchase information.

After you complete all the required information for a subscription, its status turns to Ready to Submit and it appears in the In-App Purchases and Subscriptions section of App Store Connect. For more information, see Submit an In-App Purchase.
