First external TestFlight Beta App Review stuck in "Waiting for Review" >48h... what's typical?

Hi everyone,

I submitted my app's first build for external TestFlight testing and it has been sitting in "Waiting for Review" for more than 48 hours. There are no messages in the App Review section and no rejection, the status is simply "Waiting for Review", so it doesn't look blocked, just not picked up yet.

A few questions for those who've been through this:

  1. For a FIRST external Beta App Review, how long did yours actually take? Is 48h+ normal these days, or is something wrong?

  2. Does the first external review really take much longer than later builds? I've read that once your app clears Beta App Review the first time, subsequent builds are approved almost instantly, can anyone confirm from experience?

  3. Has contacting App Review support ever actually sped this up for you, or is it just a matter of waiting it out?

Any real-world experiences or rough timelines would help me set expectations. Thanks a lot!

Took mine about 4 business days. Got approved 3 days ago. I did not get a notification email either, just logged on one morning and boom approved. I think their typical timeline is 48 hours but one of their customer service reps told me they are experiencing unusually high volumes of service and review requests.

I’m also stuck in waiting for review (6789182036), it’ll be a week tomorrow. No responses to emails via web developer support.

I’m seeing a wide range of information in terms of outcomes from other devs, nothing is consistent, makes it harder for us to predict.

My external app review took 3 days, so I think it's possible. It may take even longer, especially if it's the first time you're submitting the app.

I mean, it is almost a week now, and I’ve been working on new different builds, I wonder if taking it down and submitting another one would do something…
