My macOS app update has been Waiting for Review for approximately 30 hours. I am not concerned about that review wait by itself, but two of its three app previews still show “Poster Frame Processing.”
The previews behave differently:
- One never displayed a usable poster-frame selector and has continued to show a grey cloud placeholder.
- Another let me select a poster frame, but its thumbnail did not return afterward.
- The third preview has a normal thumbnail.
Both affected videos play successfully in App Store Connect. Their individual pages in Asset Library show “Waiting for Review” alongside “Poster Frame Processing,” and Recent Usage confirms that they are attached to the submitted macOS version and English (U.S.) localization. The files are 1920 × 1080 MP4 app previews.
App Store Connect allowed the submission, and there is no action-required notice or message from App Review. The poster-frame issue has persisted for more than 24 hours.
Can App Review begin and complete review while these poster frames are still processing, or can unfinished poster generation hold a submission in Waiting for Review even when the videos themselves play? Has anyone had an app approved in this state, or had Apple confirm that poster processing was holding it up?
If this needs intervention, can support resolve the poster-frame processing without withdrawing and resubmitting the app?
Any firsthand experience or clarification from Apple would be appreciated. Thank you.
