App Review rejected because of unclear Copyright

Hi Everyone!

I developed a simple Messages sticker pack containing a character from the game Deltarune.

The App Review rejection argued that I might not have the copyright to distribute such an App. I can understand the concern of the Review Team, but this is a common fan work that is very usual in that space. Normally of course they would not need to be distributed through the App Store. WhatsApp for example supports sticker pack distribution on its own. On Messages it is only possible through the App Store though.

I believe that this is allowed by the copyright holder, see this Q&A article: https://deltarune.com/help/#policy

The App Store Review Team does not agree and now I don't know how to continue. Does anyone have experience with this?

That page clearly refers to in-person activities at conventions ("at cons").

Contact the copyright holder and ask for written permission to include the character in your sticker pack.
