Code Needed for App Access - Workaround?

Hi - we have an app we're submitting and want to have a code up front to only give access to people at a conference we're presenting at. Seems like Apple does not like this. To clarify, we want people downloading the app but only entering if they meet a certain "qualification" else they're put on hold. Appstore doesn't seem to like having a private code entry up front though.

Any idea why? What workaround options can we have to make this a private/invitation only app that doesn't require us gathering emails first (we want people to install and either be able to use or not).

All thoughts welcome. Thank you!

I think Apples hopes you submit an app that showcases the platform, offering unique, lasting benefit to users...there is no store-centric distribution scheme for limited, one-off event support.

How about no app at all - a modern HTML5 website would provide both iOS and Android support out of the box, with no need to run any app store gauntlet.
