App Review Frustration

Hello,

I am about to go mad and don't know what to do. Sometimes I am really being dissapointed with how Apple handle reviews or choose reviewing people. I have created an app which uses Bittrex.com and poloniex.com APIs to connect to them and let people trade crypto currencies easily. I have specified these info to notes to reviewer section. After first review I got this response :

"

– What is this virtual currency’s most recent market cap?

– What kind of virtual currency is this?

– What is this virtual currency primarily used for?

– When was this virtual currency first introduced?

– What is the history of this virtual currency? "

First of all I don't know what currency is the reviewer talking about. App lists the trading markets on these 2 biggest and popular exchange markets and you can easily search for any pair in the main screen. The default opening is Bitcoin so I am really suprised. Can you help me understand what the reviewe wants to know ? If the reviewer has no information about crypto currencies is it my duty to help him learn what it is ? Sorry but if he/she doesnt know what bitcoin or any other currencies are , he/she can transfer it to someone alse instead of asking this unrelated question. I don't even know what he means by what kind of virtual currency is what is it used for etc.. I explanied it in the resolution center and look what i got :

You may feel more comfortable addressing this issue by phone. We have scheduled a follow up call with an Apple representative who should be contacting you within 3 to 5 business days.

What ?? I will wait for 3-5 days for a phone call to explain you what bitcoin or a crypto currency is ? We spent months sometimes to build an applicaiton and every day is so important and what is this ? I really can't believe and so angry with this. I replied to reviewer at last that I will go to review board and submitted an appeal nearly 24 hours ago and sitll waiting a response , at least an email that they will look into issue but nothing.

App review persons should think from the perspective of the developers a bit. They must understand how time is valuable for us. I can understand he/she oesnt know anything about the topic but after my response and detailed explaniaton if he/she is still demanding a phone call in 3 to 5 days, sorry but I can't understand this.

Regards

Are you familair with the relevant guideline:

3.1.5 Physical Goods and Services Outside of the App: If your app enables people to purchase goods or services that will be consumed outside of the app, you must use purchase methods other than in-app purchase to collect those payments, such as Apple Pay or traditional credit card entry. Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies (e.g. Bitcoin, DogeCoin) provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions.

I suspect that Apple is consistently using the phrase "virtual currency" to refer to what you are calling crypto currencies. I suspect that they are having trouble with whether your app is limited to "approved virtual currencies" wherein "approved" means 'approved by Apple' not 'listed on Bittrex'. You will need to convince Apple that your app is limited to crypto currencies that are valid and suitable for inclusion under "approved by Apple".

Hello,

Thanks for answer. What I can't describe to Apple People is, I am NOT selling anything in my app so we mustn't be talking about approved crypto currencies etc. Bittrex and Poloniex is exchange markets and what my app does is only to use their API to connect people to their services so users can exchange what they have in their poloniex or bittrex accounts without any necessity to log in. We mustn't be taking about approved currencies as I am not selling anything without using in app purchases or their approved virtual currencies.

After the phone call I have 2 new rejections, 1 is the 3.1.5 ( what you mentioned ):

Guideline 3.1.5 - Business - Payments - Physical Goods and Services Outside of the App

Your app facilitates the transmission of virtual currencies that are not approved for the App Store.

I am having a hardtime to explain review guys that I AM NOT SELLING anything so this has nothing to do with approved currencies. I have just created an app to make people connect to these exchanges and whatever they want, review guys think that I am selling something and sing other currencies. I am explaining them nbut they keep rejecting it. OMG I don't know what to do.

and the other one is

Guideline 5.2.1 - Legal - Intellectual Property

Additionally, the seller and company names associated with your app do not reflect the name of the financial organization or company, as required by Guideline 5.2.1 of the App Store Review Guidelines.

I don't know what to explain for this, really. These companies create APIs to make developers create applications that connects to their services. My app's name is cryptotrader Pro which is not a claiming app name that I am on official app for these companies and I claim nothing like this. How can this be a intellectual property violation i really cant understand

I am spending most of my day for the 1 week to solve this issue, there are times when app review people are right so we fix the problem and resend our app for evaluation but when we are right and review them repeats their mistake every time after you wait 1-2 days for an answer, it really makes us sad.

these are the 100% same apps doing the same thing with my app they are on thestore, being updated every day, why am i having these troubles !

I had exactly the same issue. I submitted the app that was displaying rates of "virtual currencies".
Apparently, there is a list of Apple’s approved Cryptos:

  • Bitcoin
  • Bitcoin Cash
  • Dogecoin
  • Dao
  • Dash
  • Digicash
  • Americoin
  • Ethereum
  • Ethereum Classic
  • Lite Coin
  • Lisk
  • Monero
  • Ripple
  • Steam
  • Tether
  • Waves
  • ZCash

What is the end result? I just got that exact problems.

FYI:

3.1.5 (b) Cryptocurrencies: Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies (e.g. Bitcoin, DogeCoin) provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions. Apps facilitating Initial Coin Offerings (“ICOs”), cryptocurrency futures trading, and other crypto-securities or quasi-securities trading must come from established banks, securities firms, futures commission merchants (“FCM”), or other approved financial institutions and must comply with all applicable law.

I have the same issue. one of my app have been in review for Feb 27, 2018 at 12:50 AM. and still show me In-Review.
