Can't generate promo code

I have been receiving this error message since April 5:


Can't Generate Promo Code

We're having trouble generating the codes. Please contact App Store Developer Support for assistance.


I have plenty of promo codes remaining.


Also, when I click through to the contact page, I get a useless series of menus that let me specify my problem and no place to actually send a message. It just has two buttons ("Start over" and "Done").


UPDATE: After six (6) days of downtime, this appears to be fixed.

Also encountering this issue today, on my Admin account. Any resolution?

I can only see my old codes, no new codes in the history.

Just wanted to leave this message here for Apple support:

Confirmed that clearing the cache does not resolve the problem.

Same here. I think it was something with my account and I've been having this problem for few days now.

Having the same problem. Would it kill them to put a notice (like they do for all the mundane admin stuff) on the site so we would at least know something was being done? Hard to believe they treat developers like this. And that handy "Contact Us" link that pops up is incredibly useless. How about a "Did this answer your question? If not, click here to contact a support rep." Sigh.

Just received a reply from Apple *hopeful*
"Our teams are aware of this issue and we are working on resolving it as soon as possible. I will let you know when there's an update to the case."

Apple e-mail:


"I understand you cannot generate promo codes. I’m sure this is very important you, and I would like to let you know that our teams are aware of the issue and they are working very hard to address it as soon as possible.


I would like to recommend you to try in a few hours and tomorrow again. Hopefully it will be solved by then."

Thanks for the replies here from what you have heard from Apple Support, I am still waiting to hear back on my support ticket ATM. Appreciate it everyone.

Same. Been noticing since last week. I opened a ticket. They said it was a top priority. I'd highly recommend every one open tickets to get the issue higher priority

I heard from an anonymous source that this issue has been fixed (for some people) alas I am still encountering it. Anyone no longer experiencing the problem?

I can confirm that I am no longer experiecing the issue. I faced the issue as recently as two hours again (8:00am PST on 4/10/18), however, just tried again after reading Leb's message and found success! Thanks, Apple!

YES ! It works now. I can generate promo codes now.

Yep seems to be working for me and have finally managed to get a promo code to the magazine, but it was embarrasing having to explain the delay as took nearly a week to fix. Also found it very frustrating not getting any useful feedback from Apple EU Dev Support, I found out more from the forum. There should have been a warning message on iTunes Connect... a lot of developers including myself wasted a lot of time trying to generate codes and hack the system to get it to work thinking it was a client rather than a server issue. I realise Apple rely on developer bug reports to highlight & fix issues, but we are also customers and pay a big chunk of our sales revenue for this service, so we should really be kept better informed.

I am still getting this issue. No codes show in history either.

Same here. App Store Connect says: "Promo Codes can only be generated for approved versions." My current version is approved.

I can generate codes, but they are not redeeming ("Code redemption is temporarily unavailable. Try again later")
