Hi,
You're here because you've had issues with your implementation of Wallet Extensions for Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a new report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below with the appropriate log profiles installed.
Gathering Required Information for Troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification Issues
While troubleshooting Apple Pay In-App Provisioning or In-App Verification, it is essential that the issuer is able to collect logs on their device and check those logs for error message. This is also essential when reporting issues to Apple. To gather the required data for your own debugging as well as reporting issues, please perform the following steps on the test device:
Install the Apple Pay and Wallet profiles on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2.
Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video.
Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS.
Create a Feedback Assistant report with the following information:
The bundle IDs
App bundle ID
Non-UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable)
UI app extension bundle ID (if applicable)
The serial number of the device.
For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > Serial Number (tap and hold to copy).
For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > Serial Number.
The SEID (Secure Element Identifier) of the device, represented as a HEX encoded string.
For iOS and watchOS: Open Settings > General > About > SEID (tap and hold to copy).
For macOS: Open the Apple () menu > About This Mac > System Report > NVMExpress > Serial Number.
The sysdiagnose gathered after reproducing the issue.
The timestamp (including timezone) of when the issue was reproduced.
The type of provisioning failure (e.g., error at Terms & Conditions, error when adding a card, etc.)
The issuer/network/country of the provisioned card (e.g., Mastercard – US)
Last 4 digits of the FPAN
Last 4 digits of the DPAN (if available)
Was this test initiated from the Issuer App? (e.g., yes or no)
The type of environment (e.g., sandbox or production)
Screenshots or videos of errors and unexpected behaviors (optional).
Important: From the logs gathered above, you should be able to determine the cause of the failure from PassbookUIService, PassKit or PassKitCore, and by filtering for your SEID or bundle ID of your app or app extensions in the Console app.
Submitting your feedback
Before you submit to Feedback Assistant, please confirm the requested information above is included in your feedback. Failure to provide the requested information will only delay my investigation into the reported issue within your Apple Pay client.
After your submission to Feedback Assistant is complete, please respond in your existing Developer Forums post with the Feedback ID. Once received, I can begin my investigation and determine if this issue is caused by an error within your client, a configuration issue within your developer account, or an underlying system bug.

Hi,
To ensure the issue is not caused by an error within your app or web service request, please review the Apple Pay Merchant Integration Guide. Additionally, please review the following technotes on Apple Pay:
TN3173: Troubleshooting issues with your Apple Pay merchant identifier configuration
TN3174: Diagnosing issues with the Apple Pay payment sheet on your website
TN3175: Diagnosing issues with displaying the Apple Pay button on your website
TN3176: Troubleshooting Apple Pay payment processing issues
If the resources above don’t help identify the cause of the error, please provide more information about your app or web services to get started. To prevent sending sensitive credentials in plain text, create a report in Feedback Assistant to share the details requested below. Additionally, if the error is something we need to investigate further, the appropriate engineering teams also have access to the same information and can communicate with you directly within Feedback Assistant for more information, as needed. Please follow the instructions below to submit your report.
For issues occurring with your native app or web service, perform the following steps:
Install the Apple Pay profile on your iOS or watchOS device. If the issue occurs on Mac, continue to Step 2.
Reproduce the issue and make a note of the timestamp when the issue occurred, while optionally capturing screenshots or video.
Gather a sysdiagnose on the same iOS or watchOS device, or on macOS.

Hi, I am the developer of this app and I was shared this receipt which strangely does not list my name as the merchant but instead says "The flow network" as you can see below:
What is going on?

I am facing an issue with Apple Pay js while doing the integration
we are using reference
https://applepaydemo.apple.com/apple-pay-js-api
In this I can generate the merchantSession correctly
But when I pass that merchantSession in
session.completeMerchantValidation(merchantValidation) as per documentation
It is getting failed and also no appropriate error is being shown in the console
On Applepay's docs it talks about the ability to do "flexible" payments and scheduling for future purchases. We need to be able to make only a single approval of an Apple payment for multiple submissions later on. Think, deferred payments at an arbitrary schedule without presenting the ApplePay dialog each and every time.
The docs suggest that may be possible, but are maddeningly vague on how to do that. Is it possible or not? Can we store an approved merchant's token for example and leverage that for future transactions?

I am trying to get a pass reader certified through the mFi / WPC certification process. The problem I have is that the Certifier app will not allow testing results to be submitted due to some missing information. I need support to discuss the missing information, but I have received no replies from the email provided for WPC Certification Representative.
Does anyone here know how to get support for the WPC Certification process?

Apple Sandbox is not available in India, also Apple Pay itself is not supported by Indian Banks. How can I still test using Apple Pay sandbox in India? I am trying to add test cards on my iPhone and it fails to add it. It tries to connect to Issuer, which it should not for sandbox Apple Id.
Can anyone help how to achieve this?
Dear Apple team and developers,
We integrated Apple Pay E-Commerce on our system and made successful transaction at January using following certificates.
Merchant Identity Certificate (generated from our Apple developer account)
Payment Processing Certificate (generated from our Apple developer account)
Payment Session Server Certificate (used following command and generated from apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com:443 test URL)
Command: openssl s_client -connect apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com:443 -key MIC_priv.key -cert MIC_merchant_id.pem -showcerts | openssl x509 -outform DER > apay_ident_trusted_cert_test.der
Root CA G3 (Downloaded “Apple Root CA – G3 Root” from https://www.apple.com/certificateauthority/ )
But at this month, we got new certificate problem (please check following) when we try to execute Apple Pay E-Commerce transaction.
Certificate 'C=US,O=Apple Inc.,OU=Apple Certification Authority,CN=Apple Application Integration CA - G3' is not valid Certificate.
What is this certificate? And Where can I download or generate this certificate from? Could you please advise/give us good information for this certificate problem?
Best Regards,
Bilguun Enkhbaatar

We are experiencing intermittent 403 Forbidden errors during Apple Pay on web merchant validation in our production and sandbox environment.
Has anyone else started seeing 403 Forbidden errors recently (since mid-2025)?
Why would merchant validation be sometimes successful and sometimes fail with 403?
Could this be related to new Apple Pay gateway changes or stricter validation rules?
Any additional debug steps or permanent solutions we should try?
Thank you.
We are working with Saferpay. And integrating Applepay Server to Server. But we are having token generation issue. It does not give a valid test card information. We have created a tester account as India country. Is that an issue?

Hi.
I am writing to request clarification regarding the renewal period of the merchant certificate. According to the documentation, Apple issues merchant certificates for 25 months, and this has been the case for several years. However, in the past six months, the issued certificates have been valid for only 3 months, which causes significant inconvenience.
I have reviewed the documentation again and contacted support, but I was only referred back to the same information stating that the certificate should be valid for 25 months. Could you please clarify whether there have been any recent changes to the renewal policy? Additionally, is there a way to extend the certificate's validity to the expected 25-month period?
I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue.

Hi,
We are trying to make the PKAddPaymentPassViewController to show the correct list of devices to where the pass can be added.
We have analysed the documentation and we are using the PrimaryAccountIdentifier field which is the field that supposedly controls this behavior but the list of devices presented in the view controller always include one iPhone and one Apple Watch, regardless of where the card has been already added.
We are initializing the PKAddPaymentPassRequestConfiguration object with:
PKEncryptionScheme
PrimaryAccountIdentifier
CardholderName
PrimaryAccountSuffix
LocalizedDescription
PaymentNetwork
PrimaryAccountIdentifier
CardholderName
PrimaryAccountSuffix
LocalizedDescription
We have also verified the configuration in our payment pass processor and everything should be ok.
We would like to have some help on achieving the desired flow for Apple Pay, which is to present the PKAddPaymentPassViewController with the correct list of available devices and not the full list.
Thank you.
Hello, we are trying to extend the dates of verified domains following the docs of https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepayontheweb/maintaining-your-environment#Renew-Your-Domain-Verification and configured the server following https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ApplePayontheWeb/setting-up-your-server
we've download the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association.txt and update them on their respective locations, click 'ok' button and we get redirected to the main page of the merchant certificate, but the expiration dates have not been extended, we can see on our web crawler that Apple Requested the file and it return a 200.
No popup errors are shown, no console developer error we only get redirected to the merchant certificate information page.

Hi, I'm developer in fintech company, we have setup process for onboarding merchants for our partner and processing payments with usage of Apple Pay API. Daily system is processing ca. 10k payments but every day ca. 100 of transactions are declined because of merchant validation error:
request to https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSession (with all required parameters in body)
is returning response with status code 417
"statusMessage": "Payment Services Exception
merchantId={root merchant id}
unauthorized to process transactions on behalf of
merchantId={merchant id hash}
reason={merchant id hash} is
not a registered merchant in WWDR and isn't properly authorized via Mass
Enablement, either."
Issue impacts recurring merchants, most of their transactions are processed successfully but randomly some of them are failing with such reason. All prerequisites are met: merchant have deployed 'apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association' certificate, certificates are valid and not expired. Apple Support is not able to provide any information based on provided requests timestamps. We would to know what may be the reason just part of the requests are failing and what 417 error code means.

Has anyone had any success enabling Apple Pay checkout for a Google Chrome or Firefox users (macOS or PC)? This was rolled out in iOS 18 but Shopify support hasn't been able to help:
https://www.theverge.com/2024/6/13/24177851/apple-ios-18-pay-chrome-scanning-code-wwdc-2024
Thanks
In the docs, I see a button type with label "Pay With [apple logo]. https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/apple-pay
Although I don't see this type as an option here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/PassKit/PKPaymentButtonType
Wondering if I'm looking in the right place and if this button type is still available?

Hello,
we develop a banking app and have successfully provisioned our cards (they are in the Wallet). But the method passes() of PassKit library always returns empty list.
What may be the reason of this?
Thanks.

We are an acquirer/payment provider offering Apple Pay. Our merchants use our hosted checkout to accept payments. After a user pays with Apple Pay on our checkout, the Wallet transaction record shows our checkout domain as the payee. We would like it to display the merchant’s brand/name so users can recognize or contact the merchant.
Is there any parameter or configuration that controls what Wallet shows as the payee? For example, can this be set via a specific field/parameter, or is it strictly derived from the Merchant ID’s display name (or other Apple Pay configuration)? What is the correct approach for a PSP/acquirer to have the merchant’s brand shown in Wallet transaction record?
Additional detail: The field in question is the merchant/payee name shown in the Apple Wallet receipt—directly under the transaction amount at the top of the receipt, and again beneath the “Total” line.
A team observed lots of timeouts from the Apple Pay session endpoint: https://apple-pay-gateway-cert.apple.com/paymentservices/paymentSession
Is it expected or some kind of an implementation issue from the caller side?
Thanks!

Hi,
We are trying to make payment from ecomm merchant.
The last request during process is
{
"sessionData": {
"epochTimestamp": "1741082241",
"expiresAt": "1741092241",
"merchantSessionIdentifier": "SSH88312C485D_7E0DD10173",
"nonce": "3f6dc197",
"merchantIdentifier": "5F9BC6BAF8",
"domainName": "libertybank.ge",
"displayName": "Apple Pay Purchase",
"signature": "3080060000",
"operationalAnalyticsIdentifier": "Apple Pay Purchase:5F9BC6BAF8",
"retries": 0,
"pspId": "5F9BC6BAF8"
}
}
which is successfully validated
applePaySession.completeMerchantValidation(data.sessionData)
After this, the "oncancel" handler is triggered in applePay.
Please help us to understand what is wrong.
Please note the domain where the applepay button is located is at
txpg.libertypay.ge Which is successfully verified.
Hello. I have a few questions about the implementation of Apple Pay payments on websites. Could you help me
From the documentation:
Apple Pay issues an Apple Pay Merchant Token if the user’s payment network supports merchant-specific payment tokens. Otherwise, Apple Pay issues a device token for the payment request.
How can we determine whether a token is a merchant token or a device token?
Is it possible to determine this by any of the token fields? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/passkit/payment-token-format-reference
Is it possible to understand this in other ways?
Can I make recurring payments with the device token if it was issued instead of the merchant token?
Is it necessary to include the tokenNotificationURL when generating a merchant token, or can we generate one without specifying it?
What does the applicationExpirationDate field in the merchant token represent? Is this the date when the device token or merchant token expires and payments cannot be made with it?
We have finished integrating Apple Pay in our app and our payment processor is requiring us to send the 3dSecure version used for apple pay (2.1,2.2,2.3,etc.). I believe this only applies to mastercard but would appreciate if anyone has run into something similar and what you specified. I have not been able to find anything in Apple's documentation specifying the version that is used.
