Codesigning completes, Notarization fails using notary tool
Notarization step fails: New AppID and password created: xcrun notarytool submit “.dmg” --apple-id “” --team-id “” --password “” --verbose --wait Error: HTTP status code: 401. Your Apple ID has been locked. Visit iForgot to reset your account (https://iforgot.apple.com), then generate a new app-specific password. Ensure that all authentication arguments are correct. I have reset app password many times, not result. Codesigning completes normally: Mac OS 11.5.2 Xcode 13.2.1

How to fix notary service internalError(statusCode: 500)
Several hours ago I've uploaded my simple Xcode Storyboard App on Apple Notarization Service. The upload process worked successfully and I could check the notarization status via xcrun notarytool info command. And a few minutes ago, I've met a following error when I execute the xcrun notarytool info command for checking the status of notarization: Error: internalError(statusCode: Optional(500), strData: nil, jsonData: Optional(["statusCode": 500, "errors": <__NSSingleObjectArrayI 0x600001d58ed0>( { code = "UNEXPECTED_ERROR"; detail = "<null>"; id = ISDIE4GVHVXLMO24V7L5LFUHXM; links = "<null>"; status = 500; title = "Uncaught server exception"; } How can I fix this error?

Issues with Invalid Binary Signatures During macOS Notarization of Electron App
Hello Apple Developer Community, I've been working on notarizing my macOS application, Deep Focus, built using Electron, but I'm encountering persistent issues with binary signatures being reported as invalid during the notarization process. I followed Apple's notarization documentation and ensured that all necessary configurations are in place, but I'm still seeing multiple "Invalid" errors in the notarization log. Here’s the process I've followed so far: 1. System and Tools Setup: macOS version: Apple M1 Pro Sonoma 14.5 macOS SDK: macOS 15.0 Xcode version: Version 16.0 (16A242d) (Using VSCode instead of XCode since this is an Electron /JavaScript project.) Link to source code for inspection 2. Notarization Process: Successfully stored credentials in Keychain using xcrun notarytool store-credentials. Signed all app components, including frameworks, using the command: for framework in "dist/Deep Focus-darwin-arm64/Deep Focus.app/Contents/Frameworks/"*.framework; do codesign --force --deep --options runtime --timestamp --sign "Developer ID Application: Timeo Williams (3Y4F3KTSJA)" "$framework" done Verified that Hardened Runtime is enabled and included the required entitlements. 3. Verification: Checked code signatures with codesign -vvv --deep --strict Deep Focus.app, which returned valid results for all components. Verified the presence of the _CodeSignature directory for each framework and confirmed proper entitlements using: codesign -d --entitlements - Deep Focus.app 4. Notarization Submission Compressed the app into a .zip file and submitted it with xcrun notarytool submit --keychain-profile "notary" --wait. Although the notarization log provided detailed error messages, it still reported the following issues: "The signature of the binary is invalid" for several frameworks, including Electron, ReactiveObjC, and Mantle. { "statusSummary": "Archive contains critical validation errors", "statusCode": 4000, "issues": [ { "path": "Deep Focus.zip/Deep Focus.app/Contents/Frameworks/Electron Framework.framework/Electron Framework", "message": "The signature of the binary is invalid.", "architecture": "arm64" }, ... ] } I've double-checked the signing process and attempted re-signing the frameworks, but the notarization continues to fail due to these invalid signatures. I’m not sure what’s causing the _CodeSignature file to be missing for some frameworks even after signing. [I also installed the Signet app to test verification. My Questions: What could be causing the binary signatures to be reported as invalid during notarization, despite the app satisfying its designated requirements according to codesign? Is there a specific way I should be handling Electron-based apps for macOS notarization that differs from standard macOS apps? Could the issue be related to the use of ARM64 architecture, and are there any additional steps required for signing on ARM-based systems? Are there any known compatibility issues with frameworks like ReactiveObjC, Mantle, or Squirrel that could affect the notarization process? Any guidance or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

"The signature of the binary is invalid" macOS App Notarization Issue
After sending the app archive to apple notarization services, I received the following error: "The signature of the binary is invalid". This error is shown for both the arm64 and x86_64 builds of the app. Some details about the project: I have been able to notarize the app in the past, with the latest successful notarization at the start of October. The organization does have a valid developer membership. The app has no new dependencies since the last successful notarization. The project uses automatic managed signing (no visible errors in xcode). What has changed in app and development environment since the last notarization: Updated macOS to macOS 15. Updated to use new Xcode version (16) The organizations membership did expire for a bit, but is now valid. Changed apps target macOS version from 12.3 -> 13.5. What I've tried to debug / resolve this issue: Clean build folder and re-create archive. Waiting a period of time and retrying the notarization. Toggling 'automatic managed signing' off and on. Tried to look through profiles, provisions, certs to see any issues. Debug the issue with 'codesign -vvv --deep --strict /path/to/binary/or/bundle' CLI command (output said binary was valid). (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/security/resolving-common-notarization-issues) Going back to last successful notarized commit and re-notarizing from that point, but that failed as well (changed version number). Reverted a change of increasing the target macOS version (12.3 -> 13.5). Compare failed notarization app's info.plist to previous info.plist for any obvious errors. I tried to install the previous Xcode version, but it seems to be incompatible with macOS 15. Tried looking online for any other options, but only found a couple similar issues and the suggestions I already tried. I can provide further information if needed.

Notarize stuck "In Progress"
Hello, I've developed an application using Electron with JAVACRIPT. I have managed to deploy to both Windows and the web but having trouble deploying the application to my Mac users. It's my first time deploying an application for Mac but feel like I'm stuck at the last hurdle and out of ideas so I'm reaching out for help. My application is successfully signing but during the build and when my Notarize.js is running it seems to get stuck indefinitely. I can check and see the status of the Notarize attempts but they seem to be stuck "In Progress". Here are the logs. Successfully received submission history. history -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-06T00:59:45.245Z id: 1dc39b5f-fdca-4bf2-a6f6-fa793de2786e name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-04T08:01:36.168Z id: c575b015-edd6-4e09-8da5-7ae09f4f67db name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-03T08:30:31.528Z id: 570ae540-8cce-4418-ab09-7f6be33dc245 name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-03T07:57:56.701Z id: 42748de8-026a-4663-9fd2-88c7608588d3 name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-03T06:30:19.569Z id: 5140caa0-df14-491a-b148-82015f9856da name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-03T05:56:28.916Z id: 535c6be1-4999-4b3e-9766-42512a8deb67 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-03T02:51:04.893Z id: ead2268c-62b2-4b4b-8850-c1cdb5313d6a name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-03T01:50:51.954Z id: d0c44281-a788-4704-a057-4620d284516d name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-03T00:48:54.445Z id: 3d13727c-06a3-49d7-902b-4001522107c3 name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T13:35:26.715Z id: 1823a550-a9ff-467a-8a60-dd3e42305258 name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T13:23:41.894Z id: cbc341a2-9a51-43d6-83ae-713443c84fec name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T12:21:44.561Z id: 1af34419-655f-49b8-bea0-05b4232c46a7 name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T11:34:03.732Z id: 8c4ab3b5-2ea9-4220-9667-94011bcf76fb name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T11:19:16.052Z id: 093dfb8a-9058-417d-acd3-8ea5d0bb654a name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T11:13:14.676Z id: 556b7c1c-d114-4717-b0f7-4f1614ada845 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T10:52:36.834Z id: ce3d3c8a-d218-4978-8757-2ca9d12aad76 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T09:27:13.535Z id: b65ec764-baab-444d-809b-e4242d70548b name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T09:27:01.176Z id: be228acc-e6a2-48f2-937b-5b2962275052 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T09:19:19.182Z id: d99fc10b-c424-4d0c-a2aa-37a9e9165d91 name: Popcorn-1.0.0.dmg status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T08:55:43.064Z id: 2e7f8df7-9c0b-4dd0-8df7-8f3428c0bfa0 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T08:19:48.676Z id: 678355da-e413-4b1a-92a8-776a6ff6a055 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T07:58:48.278Z id: 8591f8d7-1d57-4e80-af90-d77190160a20 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T07:54:41.193Z id: f029dfeb-3f14-4f65-83e2-d9356ef6ac00 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T07:27:50.613Z id: 574f2563-d533-4885-947a-2f57170196af name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T07:09:54.203Z id: 589f7f3a-d231-4911-8ad6-9d2c15a61ac0 name: popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T05:39:02.574Z id: 9edd43de-6d14-4743-87fc-ab570bee7399 name: Popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T04:36:12.342Z id: ba02116d-1aad-4521-8667-ad086b14c1cb name: Popcorn.zip status: In Progress -------------------------------------------------- createdDate: 2025-01-02T03:22:49.185Z id: b8585c81-b7f5-4c35-9bd6-62157c6ce4bc name: Popcorn.zip status: In Progress

Notarization service issue
This has been going on for at least a couple of hours for us: notarizing doesn't complete. Our last job ran for over 90 minutes before CircleCI timed it out. We're using xcrun notarytool submit with the --wait option; it contined to say "Current status: In Progress" for, as I said, 90 minutes or so. (Normally it takes about 70 seconds.) https://developer.apple.com/system-status/ says everything is normal. This does not seem to be the case for us. 😄

Urgent: xcrun notary submit Stuck - Notarization Process Halted
Hi everyone, Native Instruments is encountering a critical issue with the notarization process. The xcrun notary submit command appears to be stuck and is not completing, preventing us from notarizing our apps. Specifically, the command hangs indefinitely. This issue started today. We've already tried the following troubleshooting steps: Cancelling and re-running the command Checking my internet connection Checking the Apple System Status page Cleaning the build folder using a different machine This is a major blocker for our company, as it's preventing from from us from testing and releasing some of our products. It seems to be a similar issue as reported in https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/772542?page=2. Has anyone else experienced xcrun notary submit getting stuck like this? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm particularly interested in knowing if there are any known issues with the notarization service currently. Details about my setup: Xcode Version: 16.1 macOS Version: 14.7.1 App Type: macOS app Thanks in advance for your help!

Notarization Taking 20 Hours (and still counting)
I'm developing an app using Electron Builder for a potential port to Windows in the future. I've had a heck of a time getting credentials to work and felt like I was in some sort of time loop doing the same things over and over again to no avail. I finally was able to sign my app, sign the .dmg and start the notarization process. That was last night and it still says "In Progress". If anyone is able to push it through, that would be awesome! (id: 2520e724-7069-408a-9ea4-60b23e8435a7) I saw another thread on here where people stated it was taking forever, I'm not sure if this is just because its my first time, but I was hoping to get a beta out to testers this weekend. I just need a version that doesn't get flagged as "Malware" by Gatekeeper. This is just for a standalone macOS application, not the App Store. Is there a reason that this process takes an absurd amount of time? Will it always be like this or is this just a fluke and it was a bad time to try?

Notarization Issue
Hey there, I'm experiencing an issue with notarization of my macOS application, which is blocking a release. We have signing/notarization hooked up to our CI process, both for prior releases as well as development builds (at the trunk tip). The notarization process has typically taken anywhere from a few minutes to a few tens of minutes, but for our most recent release, it's taking an unreasonably long time. I've compiled the submission info for each build (+ reattempted notarizations) below. What's interesting is that the oldest one was accepted- however, it timed out our CI process, so we never actually released it. Subsequent builds are more or less identical in terms of their content, however, they've been stewing in the notarization process for over 13 hours in some cases. % xcrun notarytool info 67413dae-64f5-4372-972d-e0ac158e18e3 Successfully received submission info createdDate: 2025-04-02T16:28:25.999Z id: 67413dae-64f5-4372-972d-e0ac158e18e3 name: Warp Vault.app.zip status: In Progress % xcrun notarytool info 0c72b243-4a8d-4976-a97b-75689d7e2497 Successfully received submission info createdDate: 2025-04-02T05:49:05.861Z id: 0c72b243-4a8d-4976-a97b-75689d7e2497 name: Warp Vault.app.zip status: In Progress % xcrun notarytool info 8e2edfc2-58bc-4b33-bc8e-078155759a81 Successfully received submission info createdDate: 2025-04-02T05:23:28.870Z id: 8e2edfc2-58bc-4b33-bc8e-078155759a81 name: Warp Vault.app.zip status: In Progress % xcrun notarytool info 8fb17b0c-ace4-4b6f-bef8-68d22696814d Successfully received submission info createdDate: 2025-04-02T05:07:48.187Z id: 8fb17b0c-ace4-4b6f-bef8-68d22696814d name: Warp Vault.app.zip status: Accepted At the time of checking, the UTC date was: % TZ="UTC" date Wed Apr 2 18:42:14 UTC 2025 It's interesting to me that the notarization process is taking this long. We've notarized many development builds (with debugging flags enabled) in the time between our last public release and our attempt to notarize this one. What's more, the original build for this release was notarized within the span of about 15 minutes, but subsequent submissions of the same build have hung for tens of hours. My two questions are: How can I get our pending notarizations "unstuck"?, and To prevent these types of hangs in the future, should I also routinely build/sign/notarize non-debug builds of my application during the development process? Best regards and many thanks, Charlton

All Notarization Requests Stuck "In Progress" for Over 48 Hours
Hello, We are currently facing an issue with the Apple Notary Service that is completely blocking our production pipeline. For the past three days, every single submission has been stuck in the "In Progress" state indefinitely. Some submissions have been pending for over 48 hours, and none of them ever proceed to analysis. When checking the status via xcrun notarytool history, all entries show "In Progress". Attempting to retrieve logs with xcrun notarytool log always returns: Submission log is not yet available. This strongly suggests that the processing hasn't even started. This issue occurs consistently from my local machine (MacBook Air M3) and Our GitHub Actions CI workflow. Both environments are properly configured with Electron + Electron-Builder, and the app is correctly signed and uploaded each time. We have verified multiple times all credentials and code signing settings, no exceptions so far or problems in the pipeline. Here are a few stuck submission IDs: This is not a normal delay, it looks like a backend issue affecting our account or this specific App ID. Please escalate this case as soon as possible. We appreciate your urgent attention. Best

notarization suddenly stuck for hours
I've been successfully notarizing my apps for a year or so now, with intermittent releases every so often, usually succeeding with notarization in a couple of minutes. These apps are all written in Python, but I worked through all the jank required to get them to notarize cleanly a while ago and have no issues since. Today I submitted a couple of builds which have been stuck for hours. They're just "in progress", so no logs I can look at, no emails or anything on my developer account page. How can I begin to debug this? Successfully received submission info createdDate: 2025-06-24T18:43:37.140Z id: 8d1a1ca9-f0ad-426f-a714-89aaf9e01a07 name: pinpal-2025.6.25.for-notarizing.app.zip status: In Progress I should note that in addition to the comment added within 10 minutes of creation of this issue, within the last day, we also have: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/789389 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/789599 https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/789995 So it seems pretty likely something is going on on the backend.

Unable to Staple Notarization Ticket – SSL Certificate Mismatch for oscdn.apple.com
Hello Apple Support, While attempting to staple a notarization ticket for our signed installer package, the stapler command fails with Error 65. Upon investigation, we found that connections to oscdn.apple.com present an SSL certificate issued to a248.e.akamai.net, which does not include oscdn.apple.com in its Subject Alternative Name (SAN). This mismatch prevents our macOS environment from validating tickets and completing the stapling process. Steps tried: Verified notarization status (Accepted). DNS flushed, tried different DNS (8.8.8.8, 1.1.1.1). curl to oscdn.apple.com consistently fails with SSL error 60. Please advise on resolving this certificate mismatch. also when I try to run the stapler command with my pkg "xcrun stapler staple/Users/mactest/Desktop/IPMPlus_Macos_Installer.signed.pkg" getting the output like :- Processing: /Users/mactest/Desktop/IPMPlus_Macos_Installer.signed.pkg Could not validate ticket for /Users/mac-test/Desktop/IPMPlus_Macos_Installer.signed.pkg The staple and validate action failed! Error 65. please help Thank you.

Notarization taking forever
Tried notarizing my app yesterday afternoon via Mac terminal, and when I came back to work this morning it was still "In Process...". I closed terminal, and checked appleid.apple.com, and it was asking me to reset my password- maybe because the notarization timed out? Either way, I reset my password, generated a new app-specific password and tried notarizing the app again, but it's now been 3 hours and it's still "In Process..." again. When I check the status via terminal, nothing seems off- and the status is In Progress. How can I determine if there's a bigger issue I need to fix before notarizing? Notarytool in progress for over 2 days
Whilst waiting for the company developer account I successfully notarised an app/pkg On switching to the company account the app/pkg has been stuck in progress for over 2 days (see below) The initial submission was via Xcode and later via command line. The last one was when I updated bundle ids etc and built with Github Actions. The initial submission did coincide with a service outage, however that is marked as resolved. I would like to cancel all of them now that I have switched the signing account and the bundle ID but there seems no way to do this? Thoughts and comments welcome. Mac App Notarization Stuck 'In Progress' Several Days
Hello, I'm currently facing issues with the notarization process for my macOS app, which has been in progress for several days without completion. I’ve submitted multiple builds over the past few days, but they all remain stuck in "In Progress" status. { "message": "Successfully received submission history.", "history": [ { "status": "In Progress", "id": "3bab3c0e-203d-4d66-87e5-e9c46e366a6c", "name": "Offer鸡.zip", "createdDate": "2024-09-29T19:20:39.240Z" }, { "createdDate": "2024-09-29T18:28:08.522Z", "status": "In Progress", "name": "Offer鸡.zip", "id": "9bb19fae-e7c2-485b-90c5-7158a1639225" }, { "createdDate": "2024-09-29T12:31:52.458Z", "name": "Offer鸡.zip", "id": "ff0ec784-7014-412e-9e42-30feae65b546", "status": "In Progress" }, { "status": "In Progress", "id": "4be0d351-e3db-43cb-a2ce-71ebdecd623a", "createdDate": "2024-09-29T05:39:23.409Z", "name": "Offer鸡.zip" }, { "status": "In Progress", "createdDate": "2024-09-28T18:15:00.601Z", "name": "Offer鸡.zip", "id": "2a4947e0-3a4b-45e0-832a-723fdf221cbf" }, { "id": "e50fbd60-8448-4f12-8539-22dcf24caee5", "name": "offerji.zip", "createdDate": "2024-09-27T07:47:50.919Z", "status": "In Progress" }, { "createdDate": "2024-09-26T21:45:10.596Z", "name": "offerji.zip", "status": "Rejected", "id": "fc3490e9-3ff5-49f8-a08a-5bfac7cca81d" }, { "createdDate": "2024-09-26T06:59:51.950Z", "id": "d003f48c-01ec-48f7-89e0-8b8f5ad700bd", "name": "offerji.zip", "status": "Invalid" } ] } I also encountered two previous submission failures: offerji.zip (submitted on 2024-09-26 at 21:45) - Rejected offerji.zip (submitted on 2024-09-26 at 06:59) - Invalid Could anyone provide insight into what might have caused the earlier failures? And is it common for notarization to take this long? Any advice on how to expedite or resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help.
