Our app rejected by Guideline 4.3 - Design Please Help!
Hello, Our app rejected by following reason: Guideline 4.3 - Design We noticed your app shares a similar binary, metadata, and/or concept as apps previously submitted by a terminated Apple Developer Program account. Submitting similar or repackaged apps is a form of spam that creates clutter and makes it difficult for users to discover new apps. Next Steps Since we do not accept spam apps on the App Store, we encourage you to review your app concept and submit a unique app with distinct content and functionality. Resources Some factors that contribute to a spam rejection may include: Submitting an app with the same source code or assets as other apps already submitted to the App Store Creating and submitting multiple similar apps using a repackaged app template Purchasing an app template with problematic code from a third party Submitting several similar apps across multiple accounts Learn more about our requirements to prevent spam in App Store Review Guideline 4.3. iOS App 1.0App Version Rejection Reasons: 4.3.0 Design: Spam The application is 100% developed by our team and I am 100% sure of it. How can we do it ? Please help.

System fonts file access: allowed for sandboxed apps?
Hello! I am developing an ebook reader iOS app that uses c/c++ codec as a page renderer. The codec uses TrueType as a font rendering engine that requires access to .ttf (or .ttc) files. Currently, I supply TrueType with fonts embedded in the app package, so they lay within the app sandbox. The codec supports the whole unicode plane and many languages that ebooks may use, but the fonts I supply don't have some of the important glyphs (i.e. katakana or hangul). I see that iOS has its own font storage, located in /System/Library/Fonts/ directory. The codec is able to parse this directory and read .ttf files located inside, using these fonts as a fallback in the case when the supplied fonts can't draw certain glyphs. I use opendir and fopen(in "rb" mode) as a way to read the data, and it works well. Does this type of access to the system directory violate the sandbox rule for an app distribution, and, if yes, is there a way to get access to stored .ttf files not violating the mentioned rule?

How to attribute/credit Apple Fonts added to app?
My app lets users create things with text, and I've included Apple fonts so users can format their text with them. These were fonts I found in the Font Book app that comes with macOS. My assumption is that these, like the San Francisco font, can be distributed with apps. Do I need to attribute these fonts to their creators and publish a license in my "About" page? If so, where do I find the license(s) and what is the proper way of publishing them? Is there anything else I should know? Please let me know if this should've been posted under a different topic and tag

Are default fonts under UIFont.familyNames licensed for use by iOS developers?
This is a follow-up to my previous question: How to attribute/credit Apple Fonts added to app? In that previous post, I misremembered what I did and said I found fonts via macOS' FontBooks, when instead I came acrossUIFont.familyNames. Since these are included via UIKit, the legal implications should be different. I looked at various license agreements that govern iOS app development but haven't found anything mentioning fonts. Since these are included as part of UIKit, its reasonable to assume that developers are allowed to include these fonts--but in what ways? Am I allowed to let users create, say, documents with these fonts? Am I only allowed to display these fonts? There are 84 fonts, and judging by their FontBook entries, there is a wide range of licenses and restrictions. It seems unnecessarily harsh to have every iOS developer verify each one and figure out which they can legally keep if they want to offer their users access to all (for, say, a text-editing app). There must be some overarching rule that supersedes/encapsulates them, but this rule isn't clear to me after hours of research. I'm not a lawyer, and I don't think Apple expects every app developer to consult their lawyers on whether they can use system fonts. I'm about to send an email to Apple's legal team (I will post their response here if allowed), but in the meantime I want to hear what other devs think about this. In Xcode, entering UIFont.familyNames returns the following: ["Academy Engraved LET", "Al Nile", "American Typewriter", "Apple Color Emoji", "Apple SD Gothic Neo", "Apple Symbols", "Arial", "Arial Hebrew", "Arial Rounded MT Bold", "Avenir", "Avenir Next", "Avenir Next Condensed", "Baskerville", "Bodoni 72", "Bodoni 72 Oldstyle", "Bodoni 72 Smallcaps", "Bodoni Ornaments", "Bradley Hand", "Chalkboard SE", "Chalkduster", "Charter", "Cochin", "Copperplate", "Courier New", "Damascus", "Devanagari Sangam MN", "Didot", "DIN Alternate", "DIN Condensed", "Euphemia UCAS", "Farah", "Futura", "Galvji", "Geeza Pro", "Georgia", "Gill Sans", "Grantha Sangam MN", "Helvetica", "Helvetica Neue", "Hiragino Maru Gothic ProN", "Hiragino Mincho ProN", "Hiragino Sans", "Hoefler Text", "Impact", "Kailasa", "Kefa", "Khmer Sangam MN", "Kohinoor Bangla", "Kohinoor Devanagari", "Kohinoor Gujarati", "Kohinoor Telugu", "Lao Sangam MN", "Malayalam Sangam MN", "Marker Felt", "Menlo", "Mishafi", "Mukta Mahee", "Myanmar Sangam MN", "Noteworthy", "Noto Nastaliq Urdu", "Noto Sans Kannada", "Noto Sans Myanmar", "Noto Sans Oriya", "Optima", "Palatino", "Papyrus", "Party LET", "PingFang HK", "PingFang SC", "PingFang TC", "Rockwell", "Savoye LET", "Sinhala Sangam MN", "Snell Roundhand", "STIX Two Math", "STIX Two Text", "Symbol", "Tamil Sangam MN", "Thonburi", "Times New Roman", "Trebuchet MS", "Verdana", "Zapf Dingbats", "Zapfino"]

Wrong unit in HIG > Components > System Experiences > Widget > watchOS widget dimensions
Hello, I noticed a small mistake in the Human Interface Guidelines (HIG). On the page HIG > Components > System Experiences > Widget > watchOS Widget Dimensions, scroll down to the bottom. In the "watchOS widget dimensions" section, the sizes in the table are in pixels (px), not points (pt) actually. However, the table header indicates the sizes should be in points (pt). Page link: https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/widgets#watchOS-widget-dimensions For example, the widget size in the Smart Stack on a 49mm watch should be 192x81.5 pt (or 382x163 px), not 382x163 pt. This size can be verified with the information provided here: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/watchos-apps/supporting-multiple-watch-sizes/. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/watchkit/wkinterfacedevice/1620974-screenscale

Video Playback on iOS 18 public release is seriously flawed
Video Playback on iOS 18 public release is asinine. I use video playback to show slow-motion video frame by frame to my students and the video can only be shown at like 3/5 of the screen size (just like Apple fouled up screenshot editing about a year ago) If you try to view video in the full screen you can’t scrub through and see time stamps or play frame by frame sliding left to right. It’s absolutely ridiculous. 2 out of 3x the video timeline finishes fully right and I haven’t watched the full clip. Here’s a video showing the issue how at the small default size I can see the entire timeline and play the full video from beginning to end, but when I go to full screen and/or zoom in or move the screen around the timeline doesn’t work and you can’t scroll through the full video! Need the video to not condense in size on the screen and play the full height / width of the screen. Also not have the text of the location showing above the screen. Way too much clutter. The reduced size of the video for editing issue started with photos several updates ago and now Apple idiotically brought a terrible flaw from photos to videos as well. Ugh.

Picker and DatePicker selection confusion
I have a multi view app I am trying to develop as my first app. I have gone through much of HackingwithSwiftui Xcode 16.1 SwiftUI on a MacAir The prior views in the app store various information. golf Course info in one and Golfers info in another. This third view is to record rounds of golf played. I started it simple with me entering input manually and that worked. I then decided to start using pickers with the first two being a DatePicker and the second pulling in the nickname(Handle) for players to select from. in a Handle Picker. Following is my code. I can select a date as of Now and prior for date played and also the second picker does pull in the all the Handles from my prior view and I can select a Handle of the player for the round. I then fill in all the other information. When I exit the view I do see that the Round is created but the Date always defaults to Now and the Handle stays blank. When i go back in to edit the round I can change the date and select a Handle but can get them to save. I have tried many things and searched for days on the web for examples with no luck. I am sure its something simple. Any help is appreciated as I want to add for pickers for course, tee and other fields. But until I figure out what I am missing the project is at a standstill. import SwiftUI import SwiftData struct RoundsEditDataView: View { @Bindable var roundsdata: RoundsData @Environment(.modelContext) private var modelContext @State private var playDate = Date.now @Query(sort: \PlayerData.playerHandle) private var players: [PlayerData] @State private var selectedHandle: PlayerData? = nil var body: some View { Form { HStack { Text("Course:") TextField("Course Name", text: $roundsdata.roundscourseName) .textContentType(.name) } HStack { DatePicker("Date:", selection: $playDate, in: ...Date(), displayedComponents: .date) } Section { Picker("Handle:", selection: $selectedHandle) { Text("Select a Handle").tag(nil as PlayerData?) ForEach(players, id: \.self) { player in HStack { Text(player.playerHandle) .frame(maxWidth: .infinity, alignment: .leading) .tag(player as PlayerData?) } .frame(maxWidth: .infinity, alignment: .leading) .tag(player as PlayerData?) } } // .pickerStyle(.inline) this does not fix issue or design wise work } The rest of this works fine for now until I decide to convert more to picker lists. HStack { Text("Tee:") TextField("Tee", text: $roundsdata.roundsTee) .textContentType(.name) } HStack { Text("Handicap:") TextField("Handicap", value: $roundsdata.roundsHandicap, format: .number) .textContentType(.name) } HStack { Text("Gross:") TextField("Gross", value: $roundsdata.roundsGross, format: .number) } HStack { Text("Net:") TextField("Net", value: $roundsdata.roundsNet, format: .number) .textContentType(.name) } HStack { Text("Rating:") TextField("Rating", value: $roundsdata.roundsRating, format: .number) .textContentType(.name) } HStack { Text("Slope:") TextField("Slope", value: $roundsdata.roundsSlope, format: .number) .textContentType(.name) } } } }

IOS 18 Update - Emoji Keyboard
I don't typically write reviews on new updates as they typically are fine. For once I did want to mention one thing that bothers me and hoping it can be changed. I greatly dislike the new emoji keyboard and how its become bigger. I don't like the large keyboard layout and they kind of hurt my eyes. I'm near sighted and so its not needed for me to have them so big. Is there a way to revert them to the previous version? I don't know if anyone else has the same thoughts on this subject. Maybe a possible option to have the ability to switch the keyboard size to which ever suits the user? Anything would be helpful as I do enjoy using the emojis but now I'm avoiding them. Thank you for your time and consideration.

NavigationStack Fatal error: ‘try!
I am struggling to get pickers work in a form. I add NavigationStack and get this error Fatal error: 'try!' expression unexpectedly raised an error: SwiftUI.AnyNavigationPath.Error.comparisonTypeMismatch I have tried most every format or picker setup as well as DatePicker and can’t seem to determine how to get the selected item in a picker list saved. running: Xcode 16.1 import SwiftUI import SwiftData struct RoundsEditView: View { @Bindable var roundsdata: RoundsData @Environment(.modelContext) private var modelContext // @Environment(.dismiss) var dismiss @State private var playDate = Date.now @State private var selectedTee = "Gold" let tees = ["Black", "Blue", "White", "Gold", "Red", "Silver"] @Query(sort: \PlayerData.playerHandle) private var players: [PlayerData] @State private var selectedHandle: PlayerData? = nil var body: some View { NavigationStack { Form { HStack { Text("Course:") TextField("Course Name", text: $roundsdata.roundscourseName) .textContentType(.name) } HStack { // DatePicker("Date:", selection: $playDate, in: ...Date(), DatePicker("Date:", selection: $playDate, displayedComponents: [.date]) // DatePicker("Date:", selection: $playDate, in: ...Date(), // displayedComponents: .date).onChange(of: playDate) { oldState, newState in model.youDidChangeMethod(from: oldState, to: newState) } Section { Picker("Handle:", selection: $selectedHandle) { Text("Select a Handle").tag(nil as PlayerData?) Clarification on ATT Dialog and Displaying Ads in iOS App
Hello everyone, I have recently published my app on the App Store and am planning to implement ads. I have a couple of questions regarding Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework and best practices for integrating ads. ATT Dialog and Showing Ads: If a user selects "Ask App Not to Track" on the ATT dialog, am I still allowed to show ads in my app? I understand that ATT restricts tracking for personalized ads, but does this mean I cannot show any ads at all, or is it just the personalized (targeted) ads that are restricted? Best Practices for Implementing Native Ads: I want to integrate native ads into my app. Could you share any best practices or guidelines for integrating native ads in a way that provides a good user experience and complies with Apple's policies? I’m especially interested in how to implement them in a non-intrusive way and what ad networks are best for this type of integration. Thanks for your help!

Idea for iOS 19
Hey! So tell me guys, in iOS 19, i think it would be a great idea to make a nostalgic mode or “old” mode of iOS! Like iOS 1, slide to unlock was really cool for me. It would change the icons, like with the YouTube app for example. If you had the app, it could change to the very old icon, and the app interface maybe can possibly change. This was all i had in mind, but if you wanna comment on here and give more ideas, feel free!

hate the new update
The new photos update is just messy, there was no reason to make changes to it, I also noticed it makes the videos lower quality for some reason. Also I sont understand why emojis were made bigger, looks very tacky now. I wish my phone never automatically updated to this..
