Small Size Icons and NSToolbar on MacOS 12.0 Monterey -- can it work?
I noticing that Monterey defaults to the NSWindowToolbarStyleAutomatic / NSWindowToolbarStyleUnified toolbar style, which suppresses the "use Small Size" menu item and customization checkbox. So I've set the window to use NSWindowToolbarStyleExpanded. However, the toolbar will no longer change to a smaller icon size, as it did in MacOS 10.14, 10.15, and 11.0. I've tried to set the toolbar item sizing to "Automatic" for all of our toolbar icons, but that results in bad positioning in both Regular and Small Size mode -- the height is way too big. The native size of the icon .png files are 128 x 128. What's odd is that if I resize the window with the toolbar to be wider, the NSToolbarItems in the overflow area will be displayed in the toolbar are 128 x 128, where the rest of the toolbar icons get displayed as a 32 x 32 icon. The only way to get it to layout remotely correct is to make the NSToolbarItem to have an explicit minimum size of 24 x 24 and maximum size of 32 x 32. And that USED to allow "small size", but on Monterey, it no longer does. Anyone had any success with small size icons on Monterey?

Menu Bar Icon NOT Showing Up
Hi, I'm trying to make a weather menu bar app, and I want to have it so that the icon of the app in the menu changes with the actual weather, but the icon isn't showing up. There is still a space in the menu bar where I can click and open the app, it's just that the icon has disappeared. Any ideas to fix it?

Obscure assertion crash in com.apple.NSScrollingConcurrentVBLMonitor thread
I have received a few crash reports for my app "Find Any File" with an assertion failure as follows: assertion failure: "displayTiming != ((void *)0)" -> %lld Googling this turns up nothing, though. I wonder if someone has some insight into why this might happen, and how to prevent it. One reporting user suggests that it happens when my app shows a very long list of items in an NSTableView (>10000 elements). The other (and older) reports are similar, in macOS 13.6.1 and macOS 13.1. All four happened on ARM architecture (which may not be significant due to small number of samples). Memory use of app was not critical (in one case it was about 9 GB total, in others below 4 GB). The "Binary Images" section only lists Apple libs, apart from my app's. NSScrollView two finger drag being interrupted
I have a fairly robust MacOS application that has an NSScrollView that contains a canvas with various subviews (including web views and text views that contain scroll views), and a couple of peer views that track items in the scroll view (eg: screen space controls). Some of these views interrupt two finger scrolling. Every scroll view, and one of the peer views (essentially a stack view with buttons in it). I have written an additional bare bones application which does roughly the same thing, and my bare bones application works perfectly: Start two-finger dragging, scroll any of these other things under the cursor, I can continue to drag (and start dragging in any of those, and they drag without interfering with the parent scroll view). I have tried everything to recreate the interruption, including drag gestures attached to these various ancillary views, and I cannot figure out why dragging some of these views under the cursor interrupts two finger drag in our application, but not in my testbed. Does anyone have suggestions for how to debug this? I can see that there is a gesture recognizer in the NSScrollView hierarchy, but I don't see it in any of my gesture recognizer handling. I have breakpoints on every variation of hit testing and mouse motion, and none of them are getting hit in unexpected ways. I'm at my wit's end. Thanks.

NSSavePanel accessory view doesn't react to enter keypress
I have a textfield in accessory view of NSSavePanel. For user convenience there are default actions supported natively by macOS (such as pressing Enter, keyEquivalent). However this doesn't work for enter under Sonoma. Escape key works. Is enter keypress dangerous for malicious actors so it's not supported? I have workaround below but I am not confident if I am not violating sandbox (future proof). Cannot remove an observer <TUINSCursorUIController 0x600001844340> for the key path "visible" from <NSSavePanel 0x10ff05200> because it is not registered as an observer.
I have two NSTextField as an accessoryView of NSSavePanel. When I try to change focus in between them with a caps lock on the whole panel will crash. This will also happen when NSTextField if focused with caps lock on and i press cmd+tab (app switching). This happens on Sonoma + Sequoia beta. On top I have noticed editing NSTextField in accessoryView is completely broken on Sonoma and I can only edit it ONLY when the textfiled is using bindings. I am trying to find a workaround for the caps lock indicator being displayed. The only idea I have ATM is to observe NSApp.windows and look for TUINSWindow and force close it when it's visible. NSMutableAttributedString and NSTextTable
I'm using NSTextTable to format panels of stand-out text within body text. Paragraphs within the panel are handled as individual NSTextTableBlocks within the table. Each block is added to the NSMutableParagraphStyle that is part of the attributed string within the block's attributes. That's all fine and it works. But... Occasionally I see undrawn lines within the panel. These disappear (or sometimes appear) when the parent window (and thus the NSTextView holding the rendered attributed string) is resized. Lines do not always appear, and when they do they are not always in the same place. The height of the gap varies. I see this behaviour with these panels and with tables. What's common to both cases is not only the use of NSTextTable and NSTextTableBlock etc., but crucially (I think) the use of block margins. If I disable margins (which looks OK for the panels, but isn't right for tables), the problem disappears. So, a bug or (more likely) I'm missing a key part of view rendering or margin set up. [macOS Sequoia] Using RegisterEventHotkey with option and shift modifiers doesn't working anymore
Hello. In my app, I use RegisterEventHotkey to implement global keyboard shortcuts to trigger actions. Up until macOS Sequoia, I was able to use a keyboard shortcut with option and shift as the modifiers, like option shift 2 (⌥ ⇧ 2). Now, on macOS Sequoia, using RegisterEventHotkey to register a hotkey with those exact modifiers (option and shift), regardless of the key, fails with the error -9868 (eventInternalErr). Is this a documented and wanted change, or is this a bug? Other modifier keys (just command, command option, command shift, command control, control shift, etc), all work. NSScrollView scrolling hitch
When scrolling a basic NSScrollView there seems to be a sudden jump after each flick. Scrolling does not appear smooth and is disorientating. A scroll jump seems to happen directly after letting go of a scroll flick using a trackpad/mouse. Right at that moment the scroll turns into a momentum scroll, slowly decreasing the speed. But the first frame after the gesture the content jumps forward, more than what is expected. Observations: Counterintuitively, scrolling appears to be smoother when disabling NSScrollView.isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling. If disabled using a custom NSScrollView subclass there is no large jump anymore. Scrolling also appears to be smoother using a SwiftUI ScrollView. I assume that has the same behaviour as a disabled isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling Ironically a WKWebView scrolls much smoother. No sudden jump is observable. It also seems to scroll with faster acceleration, but the individual frames do appear smoother. Why is this better than a native NSScrollView? Elastic scrolling at the bounds of the scroll view also appears much smoother for WKWebViews. When pulling to refresh there is a jump for NSScrollView/SwiftUI, but not for WKWebView. When using an NSScrollView with isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling disabled, scrolling appears just as smooth as WKWebView on macOS 13 Ventura and below. On macOS 14 Sonoma scrolling behaviour is suddenly different. There is also no overdraw anymore since Monterey, as described in https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/releasenotes/AppKit/RN-AppKitOlderNotes/#10_9Scrolling Even with responsive scrolling disabled, why is WKWebView scrolling much smoother than NSScrollView?

NSLayoutManager laying out overlapping text into the same NSTextContainer even when there are more containers available.
In summation: I have a nasty bug where my layout manager is laying out text visually overlapping on top of other text, i.e., into a container that it should have left in the rear view as it continues to lay out into ensuing containers. Details below... I'm coding a word processing app with some custom pagination that involves multiple pages, within which there can be multiple NSTextView/NSTextContainer pairs that represent single column or dual column runs of text. I generate pagination data by using a measuring NSLayoutManager. This process ensures that no containers overlap, and that they are sized correctly for their associated ranges of text (i.e., non-overlapping, continuous ranges from a single NSTextStorage). I determine frame sizes by a series of checks, most importantly, by finding the last glyph in a column. Prior to the code below, remainingColumnRange represents the remaining range of my textStorage that is of a consistent column type (i.e., single, left column, or right column). This is inefficient but I'm simplifying my code to identify the root issue. I don't explicitly use these containers when done with my pagination process. Rather, I use the PageLayoutItems I have created to generate/resize/remove textContainers/textViews for the UI as needed. My UI-interfacing/generating NSLayoutManager, which is of course assigned to the same NSTextStorage as the measuring layout manager, then iterates through my paginator model class' pageLayoutItems array to generate/resize/remove. I have verified my pagination data. None of my frames overlap. They are sized exactly the same as they should be per my measurement passes. The number of containers/views needed is correct. But here's the issue: My views render the text that SHOULD appear in my final textContainer/textView as visually overlapping the text in my second to last textContainer/textView. I see a garble of text. But they don't retain. I have tried resizing my final text container to be much larger in case that was the issue. No dice. My final range of text/glyphs still lays out in the wrong container and overlaps the other content laid out there. Any help here?? I've scoured the forums and have been dealing with this bug for two weeks straight with no hope in sight.

NSLayoutManager returning inconsistent values for a glyph's text container and its line fragment rect
TLDR: NSLayoutManager's textContainer(forGlyphAt:effectiveRange:) and lineFragmentRect(forGlyphRange:effectiveRange:) are returning inconsistent results. Context: I'm developing a word processing app that paginates from an NSTextStorage using NSLayoutManager. My app uses a text attribute (.columnType) to paginate sub-ranges of the text at a time, ensuring that each columnRange gets a container (or series of containers across page breaks) to fit. This is to support both multi-column and standard full-page-width content. After any user edit, I update pagination data in my Paginator model class. I calcuate frames/sizes for the views/containers, along with what superview they belong to (page). The UI updates accordingly. In order to determine whether the columnRange has overflowed from a container due to a page break OR whether the range of text hasn't overflowed its container and is actually using less space than available and should be sized down, I call both: layoutManager.textContainer(forGlyphAt: lastGlyphOfColumn, effectiveRange: &actualGlyphRangeInContainer)` // and `layoutManager.lineFragmentRect(forGlyphAt: lastGlyphOfColumn, effectiveRange: nil) Apple Documentation notes that both these calls force glyph generation and layout. As I'm in early development, I have not set non-contiguous layout. So these should be causing full layout, assuring accurate return values. Or so I'd hoped. This does work fine in many cases. I edit. Pagination works. But then I'll encounter UI-breaking inconsistent returns from these two calls. By inconsistent, I mean that the second call returns a line fragment rect that is in the container coordinates of A DIFFERENT container than the container returned by the first call. To be specific, the line fragment rect seems to be in the coordinates of the container that comes next in layoutManager.textContainers. A glyph couldn't fit in a container when it was 628 high, but if I size it up to 648, it only needs 14? There's something very weird going on here. Working with NSLayoutManager is a bit of a nightmare given the unclear documentation. Any help or insight here would be massively, massively appreciated.

NSTextView doesn't correctly redraw when deleting text and setting attribute at the same time
It seems that NSTextView has an issue with deleting text and setting any attribute at the same time, when it also has a textContainerInset. With the code below, after 1 second, the empty line in the text view is automatically deleted and the first line is colored red. The top part of the last line remains visible at its old position. Selecting the whole text and then deselecting it again makes the issue disappear. Is there a workaround? NSDocumentController not adding "Open Recent" menu
I have a SwiftUI based app. For lots of reasons I was forced to use NSDocument instead of using DocumentGroup. I configure the main menu in my AppDelegate. It is my understanding that the NSDocumentController should automatically add the "Open Recent" menu when it sees the Open action based on the NSDocumentController. It is not appearing. When I print the state of the recent documents using print("recent documents \(NSDocumentController.shared.recentDocumentURLs), maximum \(NSDocumentController.shared.maximumRecentDocumentCount)") I see the recent document urls and a count of 10. What can I do to make the menu appear? Thanks for the help.

Collection view with self-sizing cells with SwiftUI content
I am trying to make a collection view with self-sizing cells that adapt to SwiftUI content. My test platform is macOS, but it should work on iOS all the same. I chose macOS because on macOS, you can resize the window and cause more interesting scenarios with that. My layout intent is fairly simple: a one-column collection view with cells with SwiftUI content, where the collection view cells should adapt to the height of their SwiftUI content. I got it working almost correctly. The one scenario that I don’t have working is window resizing. When the window resizes, the layout and cells should adapt to the content and change their heights. I feel that I am missing something fairly basic. How do I change this project so that the layout works correctly when I change the macOS window width? Crash when assigning NSImage to `@objc dynamic var` property
Xcode downloaded a crash report for my app which I don't quite understand. It seems the following line caused the crash: myEntity.image = newImage where myEntity is of type MyEntity: class MyEntity: NSObject, Identifiable { @objc dynamic var image: NSImage! ... } The code is called on the main thread. According to the crash report, thread 0 makes that assignment, and at the same time thread 16 is calling [NSImageView asynchronousPreparation:prepareResultUsingParameters:]. What could cause such a crash? Could I be doing something wrong or is this a bug in macOS? crash.crash

self.window.isVisible = NO not working in windowDidLoad
The following code won't work: - (void)windowDidLoad { [super windowDidLoad]; self.window.isVisible = NO; } The only main window still shows on application startup (in a minimal newly created app). One of my published apps in App Store relies on this behavior which had been working for many years since I started Xcode development.

Small Size Icons and NSToolbar on MacOS 12.0 Monterey -- can it work?
I noticing that Monterey defaults to the NSWindowToolbarStyleAutomatic / NSWindowToolbarStyleUnified toolbar style, which suppresses the "use Small Size" menu item and customization checkbox. So I've set the window to use NSWindowToolbarStyleExpanded. However, the toolbar will no longer change to a smaller icon size, as it did in MacOS 10.14, 10.15, and 11.0. I've tried to set the toolbar item sizing to "Automatic" for all of our toolbar icons, but that results in bad positioning in both Regular and Small Size mode -- the height is way too big. The native size of the icon .png files are 128 x 128. What's odd is that if I resize the window with the toolbar to be wider, the NSToolbarItems in the overflow area will be displayed in the toolbar are 128 x 128, where the rest of the toolbar icons get displayed as a 32 x 32 icon. The only way to get it to layout remotely correct is to make the NSToolbarItem to have an explicit minimum size of 24 x 24 and maximum size of 32 x 32. And that USED to allow "small size", but on Monterey, it no longer does. Anyone had any success with small size icons on Monterey?

Menu Bar Icon NOT Showing Up
Hi, I'm trying to make a weather menu bar app, and I want to have it so that the icon of the app in the menu changes with the actual weather, but the icon isn't showing up. There is still a space in the menu bar where I can click and open the app, it's just that the icon has disappeared. Any ideas to fix it?

NSTrackingEnabledDuringMouseDrag broken in Ventura
In macOS 13.2, the NSTrackingEnabledDuringMouseDrag flag for NSTrackingArea is broken, i.e., mouse-entered and mouse-exited events are not sent during a drag. This problem did not exist in macOS 12. I've filed a bug report, FB11973492, just wondering if anyone knows a workaround.

NSScrollView two finger drag being interrupted
I have a fairly robust MacOS application that has an NSScrollView that contains a canvas with various subviews (including web views and text views that contain scroll views), and a couple of peer views that track items in the scroll view (eg: screen space controls). Some of these views interrupt two finger scrolling. Every scroll view, and one of the peer views (essentially a stack view with buttons in it). I have written an additional bare bones application which does roughly the same thing, and my bare bones application works perfectly: Start two-finger dragging, scroll any of these other things under the cursor, I can continue to drag (and start dragging in any of those, and they drag without interfering with the parent scroll view). I have tried everything to recreate the interruption, including drag gestures attached to these various ancillary views, and I cannot figure out why dragging some of these views under the cursor interrupts two finger drag in our application, but not in my testbed. Does anyone have suggestions for how to debug this? I can see that there is a gesture recognizer in the NSScrollView hierarchy, but I don't see it in any of my gesture recognizer handling. I have breakpoints on every variation of hit testing and mouse motion, and none of them are getting hit in unexpected ways. I'm at my wit's end. Thanks.

NSSavePanel accessory view doesn't react to enter keypress
I have a textfield in accessory view of NSSavePanel. For user convenience there are default actions supported natively by macOS (such as pressing Enter, keyEquivalent). However this doesn't work for enter under Sonoma. Escape key works. Is enter keypress dangerous for malicious actors so it's not supported? I have workaround below but I am not confident if I am not violating sandbox (future proof). Cannot remove an observer <TUINSCursorUIController 0x600001844340> for the key path "visible" from <NSSavePanel 0x10ff05200> because it is not registered as an observer.
I have two NSTextField as an accessoryView of NSSavePanel. When I try to change focus in between them with a caps lock on the whole panel will crash. This will also happen when NSTextField if focused with caps lock on and i press cmd+tab (app switching). This happens on Sonoma + Sequoia beta. On top I have noticed editing NSTextField in accessoryView is completely broken on Sonoma and I can only edit it ONLY when the textfiled is using bindings. I am trying to find a workaround for the caps lock indicator being displayed. The only idea I have ATM is to observe NSApp.windows and look for TUINSWindow and force close it when it's visible. NSMutableAttributedString and NSTextTable
I'm using NSTextTable to format panels of stand-out text within body text. Paragraphs within the panel are handled as individual NSTextTableBlocks within the table. Each block is added to the NSMutableParagraphStyle that is part of the attributed string within the block's attributes. That's all fine and it works. But... Occasionally I see undrawn lines within the panel. These disappear (or sometimes appear) when the parent window (and thus the NSTextView holding the rendered attributed string) is resized. Lines do not always appear, and when they do they are not always in the same place. The height of the gap varies. I see this behaviour with these panels and with tables. What's common to both cases is not only the use of NSTextTable and NSTextTableBlock etc., but crucially (I think) the use of block margins. If I disable margins (which looks OK for the panels, but isn't right for tables), the problem disappears. So, a bug or (more likely) I'm missing a key part of view rendering or margin set up. [macOS Sequoia] Using RegisterEventHotkey with option and shift modifiers doesn't working anymore
Hello. In my app, I use RegisterEventHotkey to implement global keyboard shortcuts to trigger actions. Up until macOS Sequoia, I was able to use a keyboard shortcut with option and shift as the modifiers, like option shift 2 (⌥ ⇧ 2). Now, on macOS Sequoia, using RegisterEventHotkey to register a hotkey with those exact modifiers (option and shift), regardless of the key, fails with the error -9868 (eventInternalErr). Is this a documented and wanted change, or is this a bug? Other modifier keys (just command, command option, command shift, command control, control shift, etc), all work. NSScrollView scrolling hitch
When scrolling a basic NSScrollView there seems to be a sudden jump after each flick. Scrolling does not appear smooth and is disorientating. A scroll jump seems to happen directly after letting go of a scroll flick using a trackpad/mouse. Right at that moment the scroll turns into a momentum scroll, slowly decreasing the speed. But the first frame after the gesture the content jumps forward, more than what is expected. Observations: Counterintuitively, scrolling appears to be smoother when disabling NSScrollView.isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling. If disabled using a custom NSScrollView subclass there is no large jump anymore. Scrolling also appears to be smoother using a SwiftUI ScrollView. I assume that has the same behaviour as a disabled isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling Ironically a WKWebView scrolls much smoother. No sudden jump is observable. It also seems to scroll with faster acceleration, but the individual frames do appear smoother. Why is this better than a native NSScrollView? Elastic scrolling at the bounds of the scroll view also appears much smoother for WKWebViews. When pulling to refresh there is a jump for NSScrollView/SwiftUI, but not for WKWebView. When using an NSScrollView with isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling disabled, scrolling appears just as smooth as WKWebView on macOS 13 Ventura and below. On macOS 14 Sonoma scrolling behaviour is suddenly different. There is also no overdraw anymore since Monterey, as described in https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/releasenotes/AppKit/RN-AppKitOlderNotes/#10_9Scrolling Even with responsive scrolling disabled, why is WKWebView scrolling much smoother than NSScrollView?

NSLayoutManager laying out overlapping text into the same NSTextContainer even when there are more containers available.
In summation: I have a nasty bug where my layout manager is laying out text visually overlapping on top of other text, i.e., into a container that it should have left in the rear view as it continues to lay out into ensuing containers. Details below... I'm coding a word processing app with some custom pagination that involves multiple pages, within which there can be multiple NSTextView/NSTextContainer pairs that represent single column or dual column runs of text. I generate pagination data by using a measuring NSLayoutManager. This process ensures that no containers overlap, and that they are sized correctly for their associated ranges of text (i.e., non-overlapping, continuous ranges from a single NSTextStorage). I determine frame sizes by a series of checks, most importantly, by finding the last glyph in a column. Prior to the code below, remainingColumnRange represents the remaining range of my textStorage that is of a consistent column type (i.e., single, left column, or right column). My UI-interfacing/generating NSLayoutManager, which is of course assigned to the same NSTextStorage as the measuring layout manager, then iterates through my paginator model class' pageLayoutItems array to generate/resize/remove. I have verified my pagination data. None of my frames overlap. They are sized exactly the same as they should be per my measurement passes. The number of containers/views needed is correct. But here's the issue: My views render the text that SHOULD appear in my final textContainer/textView as visually overlapping the text in my second to last textContainer/textView. I see a garble of text. But they don't retain. I have tried resizing my final text container to be much larger in case that was the issue. No dice. My final range of text/glyphs still lays out in the wrong container and overlaps the other content laid out there. Any help here?? I've scoured the forums and have been dealing with this bug for two weeks straight with no hope in sight.

NSLayoutManager returning inconsistent values for a glyph's text container and its line fragment rect
TLDR: NSLayoutManager's textContainer(forGlyphAt:effectiveRange:) and lineFragmentRect(forGlyphRange:effectiveRange:) are returning inconsistent results. Context: I'm developing a word processing app that paginates from an NSTextStorage using NSLayoutManager. My app uses a text attribute (.columnType) to paginate sub-ranges of the text at a time, ensuring that each columnRange gets a container (or series of containers across page breaks) to fit. This is to support both multi-column and standard full-page-width content. After any user edit, I update pagination data in my Paginator model class. I calcuate frames/sizes for the views/containers, along with what superview they belong to (page). The UI updates accordingly. In order to determine whether the columnRange has overflowed from a container due to a page break OR whether the range of text hasn't overflowed its container and is actually using less space than available and should be sized down, I call both: layoutManager.textContainer(forGlyphAt: lastGlyphOfColumn, effectiveRange: &actualGlyphRangeInContainer)` // and `layoutManager.lineFragmentRect(forGlyphAt: lastGlyphOfColumn, effectiveRange: nil) Apple Documentation notes that both these calls force glyph generation and layout. As I'm in early development, I have not set non-contiguous layout. So these should be causing full layout, assuring accurate return values. Or so I'd hoped. This does work fine in many cases. I edit. Pagination works. But then I'll encounter UI-breaking inconsistent returns from these two calls. By inconsistent, I mean that the second call returns a line fragment rect that is in the container coordinates of A DIFFERENT container than the container returned by the first call. To be specific, the line fragment rect seems to be in the coordinates of the container that comes next in layoutManager.textContainers. A glyph couldn't fit in a container when it was 628 high, but if I size it up to 648, it only needs 14? There's something very weird going on here. Working with NSLayoutManager is a bit of a nightmare given the unclear documentation. Any help or insight here would be massively, massively appreciated.

Xcode downloads client crash report for NSOutlineView._updateDisclosureButtonForRowView with reason "Segmentation fault" but the stacktraces don't contain any of my app's symbols

NSTextView doesn't correctly redraw when deleting text and setting attribute at the same time
It seems that NSTextView has an issue with deleting text and setting any attribute at the same time, when it also has a textContainerInset. With the code below, after 1 second, the empty line in the text view is automatically deleted and the first line is colored red. The top part of the last line remains visible at its old position. Selecting the whole text and then deselecting it again makes the issue disappear. Is there a workaround? NSDocumentController not adding "Open Recent" menu
I have a SwiftUI based app. For lots of reasons I was forced to use NSDocument instead of using DocumentGroup. I configure the main menu in my AppDelegate. It has the following code: let fileMenuItem = NSMenuItem() let fileMenu = NSMenu(title: "File") fileMenu.addItem(withTitle: "New", action: #selector(NSDocumentController.newDocument(_:)), keyEquivalent: "n") fileMenu.addItem(withTitle: "Open...", action: #selector(NSDocumentController.openDocument(_:)), keyEquivalent: "o") The New and Open work as expected. It is my understanding that the NSDocumentController should automatically add the "Open Recent" menu when it sees the Open action based on the NSDocumentController. It is not appearing. When I print the state of the recent documents using print("recent documents \(NSDocumentController.shared.recentDocumentURLs), maximum \(NSDocumentController.shared.maximumRecentDocumentCount)") I see the recent document urls and a count of 10. What can I do to make the menu appear? Thanks for the help.

Collection view with self-sizing cells with SwiftUI content
I am trying to make a collection view with self-sizing cells that adapt to SwiftUI content. My test platform is macOS, but it should work on iOS all the same. I chose macOS because on macOS, you can resize the window and cause more interesting scenarios with that. My layout intent is fairly simple: a one-column collection view with cells with SwiftUI content, where the collection view cells should adapt to the height of their SwiftUI content. I got it working almost correctly. The one scenario that I don’t have working is window resizing. When the window resizes, the layout and cells should adapt to the content and change their heights. I feel that I am missing something fairly basic. How do I change this project so that the layout works correctly when I change the macOS window width? Crash when assigning NSImage to `@objc dynamic var` property
Xcode downloaded a crash report for my app which I don't quite understand. It seems the following line caused the crash: myEntity.image = newImage where myEntity is of type MyEntity: class MyEntity: NSObject, Identifiable { @objc dynamic var image: NSImage! ... } The code is called on the main thread. According to the crash report, thread 0 makes that assignment, and at the same time thread 16 is calling [NSImageView asynchronousPreparation:prepareResultUsingParameters:]. What could cause such a crash? Could I be doing something wrong or is this a bug in macOS? crash.crash

self.window.isVisible = NO not working in windowDidLoad
The following code won't work: - (void)windowDidLoad { [super windowDidLoad]; self.window.isVisible = NO; } The only main window still shows on application startup (in a minimal newly created app). One of my published apps in App Store relies on this behavior which had been working for many years since I started Xcode development.
