Anyone Notified of Developer Kit Selection?

Just checking. Apple said that people would start being notified of being chosen to get a Developer Kit on the 14th. So what's the word, anyone get notified yet they've been selected?

Cool. I wonder if they will say how many they have given out in total.

Another one in Italy, I'm a lucky man 🙂

Thanks Apple.

Congratulations for everyone who got approved 🙂 I'm crossing fingers, I have two app published including a game, and I already made a port of my first app using Xcode 7.1 (it was very straightforward btw) so I really hope to get the mail 🙂

Besides the fact they can afford it, this buys them a broader/early test sample/feedback-group, which is invaluable for new tech like this. Then there is the good will, too, I guess. Smart move all around, I think.

I'll do my best to use the bug reporter while testing my apps, but it's going to be tough to not talk about it in public... "The new phone book is here!!!"

You're so lucky guys! 😉 (detto fra noi, che **** bestiale 😀)

I haven't gotten anything yet 😟

I'm praying that they're doing it in waves.

I am disappointed at not being selected, but not all that surprised. I have 2 apps in the store, but I have never won a lottery of any sort.

Hope it is being done in waves, but I don't understand why it would be.

where you able to pay? I have the same problem, I'm in Canada 😟

I got mine (Toronto - Canada) But like Payner77 I cant pay because It won't accept my Canadian Billing address, does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you in advance.

Ivan.

Yeah it's kinda annoying considering those that have perfect apps to be ported or have been working on ideas since announcement might not get one. I guess that's a lottery eh? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It accepted my Canadian billing address. Make sure your account is setup for Canada. I did not experience any issues during the transaction.

No I have'nt been able to place order. I emailed support. Will call them in the morning.

Located in Montreal, Canada, and still nothing. It looks like they are sending more emails as time progresses, so I'm optimistic. We have two apps in the App Store, lots of update history and an update currently pending review in ITC. Congrats to everyone who has received the email thus far!

Out of curiosity, anyone from California get selected yet?

Looks like it's over. Just got this. "Dear Developer, Thank you for registering to get an Apple TV Developer Kit. While you were not selected for this opportunity, we share your excitement for tvOS and encourage you to start building innovative apps for Apple TV with the tvOS SDK. We appreciate your support. Best regards, Apple Developer Relations"

I haven't gotten any email at all, either yes or no.

We have published apps, but we transfer them to clients iTunes connects once they are completed, so our own account shows no apps. Hopefully the entire history of published apps count and not just the current catalog. 😕

Github it...maybe someone will test for you?

Thats odd. Still nothing for me.

not this developer from California, I got the Dear Developer rejection.

For a company thats richer than dirt, it would have been a nice touch to reward developers, like Google does.

I wasn't aware these were being given away, I appled on the assumption I'd need to pay the going price, just get it sooner.

Nothing for me yet either. On west coast 6:30PM and no email at all even though I submitted same hour.

I think what Apple is doing is sending out email to Dev's with Apps on the App store. Both selection and rejection emails.

They will more than likely send out rejection email to Dev's without Apps on the App store tomorrow.

Has anybody without an App receive a rejection yet ?

I have an app on the app store :\

Hmm. Just got the rejection notice. It sort of takes the wind out of my sails for working on the tvOS version of my app. Guess I'll just have to stick with the simulator. Anyone out there with internet-connected lightbulbs (and who won the developer kit) interested in beta testing? My app is called Lightbow, one of the leading iOS apps for controlling Philips hue, LIFX, and Belkin WeMo lighting hardware. It has everything from wakeup alarms, to party presets, to dozens of profesisonally-designed lighting animations on various themes like Fireworks, Christmas, and Space. It's also the only app that really gives you full control over creating your own custom animations. Here's the App Store link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lightbow-for-philips-hue-lifx/id695235159?mt=8

I was really looking forward to bringing my app to the TV, since that's a natural place to let everyone set up and play with lighting presets in their homes. Lightbow has been on the App Store for two years with at least four stars, and updates averaging out to one every 20 days. It's localized to over 15 languages. It doesn't make crazy money, but it pays the mortgage. I wonder what metrics they used for selecting the winners. My theory—since the new tvOS doesn't really allow local storage, I'll bet they screened out apps that had yet to utilize CloudKit, since that'll be important for the new OS. It was something I was planning for a future release, but wasn't ready to pull the trigger just yet. Support for tvOS was going to be a natural launch point for cloud support, but without hardware to test on, I'm worried about the risk.

I could test this out, I should get my Apple TV developer kit on Thursday, and I have Phillips hue as well.

We're in the same situation.

btw I just found the rejection notice in my mailbox 😟

Bummer as we've just got a customer request to do a PoC on the AppleTV.
