I downloaded the GM seed, put the ATV into recovery mode, and attempted to restore it in iTunes. It went for a minute and then said "The Apple TV could not be restored… isn’t eligible for requested build.”
What's that all about?

Cannot install tvOS GM Seed
Noticed that too. I'm updating now to see if anything is different.
Survey says the 'GM' is just a repackaged B3.
Once again, schedule trumps features.
It downloads the update, but the install fails.
It just keep saying it can not update, and i have to reboot, must be a bug 🙂 lets hope the app store will go live soon 🙂
I was in the last group of developer kits , i never recieved a usb type c cord with the kit , cant plug into itunes to update , over the air isnt working for me yet ..
I was now able to restore to the GM build, after the setup the I did another OTA update.
GM Version: 9.0 (13T396)
After the OTA update I have: Version 9.0 (13T5379f)
This one should be the newer one or?

13T5379f ist the build number of tvOS beta 3.
I have to re-install GM. Best to ignore the "available update" in settings.
In my case, using iTunes 12.3.0.44, I unplugged the hdmi cable and booted into recovery mode and was able to update with no problem.
Yep - mine updated perfectly then couldn't find my WiFi

I did update to GM using Yosemit and old Xcode ! I just updated iTunes
To get mine to upgrade, I had to discard the advice from everyone else. I tried disconnecting the HDMI cord and doing a restore using iTunes, but that continuously failed after many attempts.
Finally, after leaving the HDMI cord connected when doing the update, I saw the progress bar on my TV screen, and it upgraded successfully. I disconnected the device from my Mac, keeping HDMI connected, when iTunes said the install was complete, and it booted up to the regular Pair Remote setup screen.

So can anyone confirm the correct steps to installing the OS on the TV?. I have the dev kit and just got around to openning it up today to install the tvOS and saw that it is now in GM. The instructions are no longer included in this update and I am reading here people are bricking the TV? I am now worried about the process. Can anyone confirm the steps before I try this?
