i keep getting "this core storage operation is not allowed on a sparse logical volume group" error when installing. I'm lost as there seems to be no support documents & very few people with the problem
Install problems
hello anyone! this is getting st upid! the release notes have no instructions on install like the developer page says...
read those... they do not detail either my problem or a correct way to install
Typically, you install beta versions by double-clicking on the .dmg file that is downloaded.
Then follow the prompts.
Do you have FileVault enabled?
I have the same error and Filevault is not enabled. I found several troubleshooting threads regarding 10.10 that used diskutil commands but that do not work either. The problem may be similar but I can't find a way around it.
No I do not and never have! I shouldn't have this stupid bug!!! I can't even do a clean install!!!!
I'm tired of this nonsense! I wish Apple would put what they say they put in the release notes! There are no install notes and there is no way to report bugs without installing 10.11...
I would try running Disk Utility from the OS X Recovery Partition and create 1 HPFS Volume.
This will erase any data on your hard drive but will be a clean starting point for installing El Capitan.
That's HFS+; HPFS was an OS/2 File System. 🙂
This happened to me and i tried restarting several times. What i did was to click tools and then disk utility. from there i could repair macintosh and then when i went back and pressed restart my mac started as normal and now i can use it again. But i still cant install El Capitan public beta.
