iOS 14 Beta 2 bricked my iPhone XS

My phone is infinitely bootlooping as well after ios14 install. I have been doing a lot of research on this topic, and think I may be discovering something here. I had my screen replaced at ubreakifix roughly 1 month ago. phone worked great after, just a simple cracked screen that was bothering me. After updating to ios14 I immediately began the infinite bootloop. If I mess with the buttons and hold the screen in a certain spot, I can eventually bypass this and the phone turns on. It will work great, no issues at all even for extended periods. Once I lock the screen, it begins to bootloop again.

I brought it to the genius bar, who were unable to find any issue with the phone (and they cracked it open for me) other than noting that the screen turning on was causing a panic-full analytic error. I then went over to ubreakifix, who were at a loss for words. today, ubreakifix called. another customer had come in, with an iphone 11 (also had a screen replaced recently). They went to install the new ios14 and have begun bootlooping infinitely just like me.


Is it possible that the new ios14 is searching for aftermarket repairs/parts and once identified, causing the phone to panic and crash? I was told by apple support that my only option was to pay them for a repair, as I am out of warranty and "am not allowed to go back to ios13".

Have we lost our right to repair? I am extremely upset with apple right now... so much so that if this is true they have lost a customer for life

I am a computer technician and I am very familiar with iPhone issues. I faced the same issue as the rest of you after updating from IOS 13 to IOS 14. Mine was not a beta version, it was the major release that everyone got. My phone is an iPhone XR and it is brand new. My phone has never been dropped nor has it had any contact with water. It has never been repaired. It does not have charging issues. The board is perfectly fine. IOS 14 has a major issue with it. I was able to track it down to specifically its interaction with Facebook, but I also noticed it dropped the cell phone data connection. I verified that it was not on the host end. The phone still worked on Wifi, but the cell service simply dropping out of no where was very weird. Knowing a restart would normally fix this issue, I decided to restart the phone and the phone stuck in an endless bootloop, with the apple logo. I plugged it into my computer on a most up to date iTunes, with an apple cord. I attempted an update and it failed. I attempted a restore and it failed. It would appear it was a hardware issue but it is not. The next thing I did was visit this form and tried some of the techniques. Nothing seemed to be working for me. The phone got stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. I decided to pay Reiboot Pro 35$ for a one year subscription, at the advice of one of the comments on here. I attempted the take out of recovery mode option first. This option failed. I attempted a restore and this option also failed. I attempted the last option of an advanced restore that deleted all of the phones contents and it worked this time. If you have an iPhone on IOS 14, I suggest that you backup your data to iTunes ASAP. You will need the data to restore the phone to after you wipe it clean with Reiboot Pro. This is an honest review of exactly what I faced and how I fixed it. I do not have any affiliation with the program mentions, but it did work for me. I hope this helps!

I just had a similar problem with upgrading to public release 14.0.1. My issue started when after updating iOS my Face ID stopped working. I have the iPhone XS 256GB and had no issues with the phone prior to the update. After trying to reset the Face ID settings with no luck I decided to power down the phone. After it turned off I turned it on and the boot loop issue started. Took it to VZW store and they could not help. Came home and connected it to my laptop. Once connected to my laptop it booted up successfully. At that point I backed up to iCloud and the performed a full erase and restore from iCloud. Have not experienced the boot loop since but still cannot get Face ID working. Patiently waiting for apple to release a fix.

iPhone XS was boot looping. After reading a lot of forums having to phone calls with Apple and trying to restore on multiple computers I let the phone die. It took about 2 days of me checking it because it does turn off after trying to boot for a long time eventually it turned back on with no issues so try that.

I had the same issue with my 10xs max. The only thing apple could tell me is I needed to pay to repair or replace. After deciding I wouldn’t invest another dime in such faulty products. I went a month without my device. I read and tried the tenorshare reiboot software mentioned in this forum and it rebooted my phone out of recovery mode for free. This malfunction didn’t start until the iOS software update. Please try that before you pay apple they don’t stand by their products or software.

This fixed it for me. When apple logo appears, press volume up, then volume down, then press and hold the side button. When I did this it made me plug in my phone to my computer and update the phone. This puts the phone into recovery mode.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max just after IOS 14.1 live version just updated not even 10 hours then IOS super lagging and crash during i make purchase on app. Then my phone just dead at boot loop. I tried hard reset/update recovering/firmware upgrade all not working via iTunes. I even tried paid version imyFone repair tool also not working. i forcefully to perform factory reset then only able to boot into IOS as start new phone setup. Retry restore old phone backup then back to old problem again. My Last resource with no option i choose i have start as new phone setup and i lost my 15 years memory data and contact in IOS and Thanks F**king IOS 14.1 update into my Iphone

This issue happened to me twice on the same device when I powered it off (iPhone XR). I was able to fix it both time by force restarting it and normal restarting it multiple times (above 25 times). and it worked. I was desperate and just kept repeating until the phone worked. the first time the apple restore page showed up 7 times however the second time it showed only 1 time and both times was on its side it also started up and the apple logo stayed for longer than normal [don't do anything if this happens just wait and it should work. This issue seems to happen with the IOS 14.2 BETA (18B5083a)

Apple would tell you to get a new phone because Apple is a shit company, but we're all brainwashed so we buy their shitty products anyways because switching from Apple to Android is a hassle.

Anyone solved this issued?

I'm a profesional iphone user. I got same one on 12 Pro, and I just read your guy posts, but all didn't work for me, then I firgure out and worked for me now.
Following steps:

1. Volume + and release

2. Volume - and release

3. Hold Side button for 6 seconds

4. Continue holding Side button and hold volume - for 6s more

5. Release Side button, and keep holding volume untill it get to DFU

tried everything to get my wife’s phone to fix this and nothing worked. She talked me into switching from Android to iPhone and I’m now realizing what a fucking mistake this was. Will switch back as soon as this one bricks itself, so either 2 years or 2 hours.

i was handed the iphone 11 from a family member whick they took to apple and they refused to fix,
it had a cracked screen and it was on an infinite loop out of no where.
i opened it and by disconnecting the face id module and speaker cable it let it boot back up,
i asume the face id module is bad, now im looking around to see how can i replace it, good luck.

Hi, I woke up this morning to the very same issue after my iPhone pushed the ios 14.4 update through last night. It was stuck on the apple logo and then suddenly the screen would flash off, over and over. I put the phone in recovery mode and plugged it into my computer to try and update or restore the phone and got error 4013 every time. I tried every solution on this forum and others, but nothing worked.
However, a guy at the UBreakIFix store figured it out. He said he did something where he unplugged the Face ID cable and let it restart and then plugged it back in. He only thought of doing that after I told him that my Face ID was broken and I had been typing in the passcode for the last couple of months. Once he fixed it he told me I cannot let my phone die or update again otherwise the boot loop will return. We also made sure my front camera and audio still works.
It seems like a pretty similar solution to Xannidax. Hope you can take this to a 3rd party and get your phone fixed!

Same here! Reiboot, iTunes update, restore. You name it I tried it all. Just can’t get it to work. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

I had this same exact problem. iPhone 11 max pro worked perfectly fine until apply pushed the 14.7 update to it. From there, it was constant apple loops and 100+ attempts to restore my phone with no luck. Took it to Best Buy and they couldn't get it to work, so they "offered" me a solution of buying the same exact phone for $600. I thought they were out of their mind, so I went to verizon. They had even worse options. Called Apple and the support tech was a complete unempathetic jerk. Told me the update didn't break my phone, but that something was probably already wrong, and the update exploited it. I said my phone was working perfectly well, and I didn't need an update to exploit anything. He then rambled about it being like a car transmission going bad, and he claimed that best buy offering me the $600 phone was a gift that I should jump at. Given no other options, I took that one. What a scam.

I Am sorry to comment to this thread as my problem isn't quite the same to start with but symptoms are 100% match. Yesterday, out of the blue my phone shut itself down while on the move and started to eternally reboot right after the Apple logo splash is displayed.

None of the restart hints helped, always same apple-logo-reboot-loop.

IOS 14.7.1 and no clear idea when was this installed (automatic updates). No beta-ios or other tweaking, just normal iPhone usage.

My father helped me to come to a point where:

• iPhone XS Max (256gb) was wiped (factory restore) via iTunes (IOS update didn't succeed)
• after the iTunes reset, the setup procedure required roughly 20 reboots like this:
• Hello screen, Wifi password given -> reboot
• Hello screen, Wifi password given, iCloud credentials given -> reboot
• Hello screen, Wifi password given, iCloud credentials given, iCloud backup chosen -> reboot
• and so on. So the setup could advance little by little after numerous reboots until restore from iCloud was completed.
• postponed Face id, Pay and Siri setups for this test
• phone appeared functional for minutes of active operation with screen on and open.

I had an intermediate test where I shut the phone off gracefully after the setup was done --> resulted on apple logo reboot loop again.

Went through above setup-reboots again.

Now started testing what happens when screen is locked. Every wake up (power button press) resulted in a reboot and phone starting back to passcode query. I can log in and phone stays operational as long as I keep screen on and open. I did this ca. 20 times, every time same behavior.

As Face ID was mentioned here, I enabled it. After it was successfully set up, I locked the phone and wake up resulted in reboot, but this time notorious eternal-apple-logo-reboot-loop style. Perkele. Square one again.

What you think? Is it a hardware fault? To me it starts smell like one..

I ended up having to buy a new phone after the beta version bricked my XS. I’m a single parent and on a tight income. This is the reason I opted out of beta because apple won’t stand behind their customers that test out products. The least they could do would have been offer a loaner or replacement until a solution. Just my 2cents

I had a similar issue after the IOS 15.1 software update, I had an XS too. I no longer had any cellular data connection to my device. After hours of back and forth with apple support and my wireless carrier customer service, I was basically told by apple “it wasn’t our fault, updates are supposed to fix problems not cause them.” And my wireless carrier said that there wasn’t anything wrong with my sim card etc. I was forced into buying a new phone. I only had the XS for a little over a year

This also happened to me too. I had it on my main iPad 7th gen and I had to get stuck on my iMac till Christmas! I was on that software version when it was released. A few days later on a Sunday morning, I was checking my Twitter till all of a sudden, my iPad randomly restarted! I have this experience this issue before and it successfully lets me restore it. I was just downgrading to a version of iOS 13 when I didn't like the way how iOS 14 didn't have bedtime mode, I only selected Update Software instead of Restore. Now however, when I had this issue again on iOS 14 Beta 2, it's different. My iPad was stuck on the Apple logo and I couldn't get it off. It restarted with the Apple logo and some flashing green and red lines. It sometimes display a red screen for a second then it restarts. I tried restoring it in iTunes and I had the same error as 4013. I had random errors from 4013, which I forgotten. I tried doing this on a another computer but still 4013. I tried restoring it using the DFU mode but it's still 4013. Though, after a few whole times, It successfully gave me a "Welcome to your new iPad" screen which I thought it worked, till it restarted again. WITH THE SAME ISSUE! I gave up and decided to take it to the Apple Store. But, when this problem happened during the day, all Apple Stores were closed. So I had to be stuck on my iMac for a while. Now, In September or November, my Apple Store is open. I contacted my brother to schedule an appointment to the Genius Bar and try to find a solution to fix my iPad. I was messaging my brother and what he told me that the Genius Bar told my brother that the iPad is bent and I actually broke the inside of it. Which that's what I believed, because my iPad was a bit bent but it's in fine condition. Now, when I saw this forum, I was glad that I wasn't the only one with this same problem. For now, I still tried restoring my iPad, but now it won't let me. Because it's now stuck on "Waiting for iPad" and It won't let me go through that screen. I still have my previous iPad today and I don't know how to restore it. It's dead, and it will probably be stuck on that Apple logo, forever, and forever. I'll try again tomorrow and see if I can find solutions to my problem.

Hi everyone! So I have an iPhone XS. Installed the iOS 16 beta. Long story short after installing a week or 2 later my phone gets 'bricked' Honestly I don't believe it. My phone doesn't get off the dead battery screen or the apple logo reboot screen. I went to Apple and Best Buy and they both said it was dead. The apple logo comes periodically. Please help! Is it really dead or can I recover it. Honestly, Apple should offer a replacement program or something. You help them test and they recieve info. While if the phone bricks. Oh no its your fault but heres another 500-1000 phone! Buy this!
