Cannot download iOS 10.1 Public Beta on new iPhone 7 Plus

I had an iPhone 6 Plus until yesterday running iOS 10.1 Public Beta 4 and backed it up to iTunes and iCloud regularly.

I just got an iPhone 7 Plus and need to update it to iOS 10.1 beta as well so I can restore from backup, but I keep getting a 10.0.3 is up to date message when I try to download and install the Public Beta. I have correctly enrolled my new 7 Plus on the beta site and downloaded the correct beta profile (deleted and re-installed several times, in fact), but it just does not see that there's a beta version out there ready to be downloaded.

Unfortunately I do not have immediate access to a Mac to try updating it to 10.1 via iTunes as suggested by many on various forums, but hope to use a friend's Mac to try it tomorrow.

In the meantime, does anyone know how to fix the OTA download issue? I see online that many others who have upgraded to iPhone 7 Plus are having similar issues.

Can you post the link to the restore image pls

Hey,

Let me know how the downgrade works for you.

I know you not concerened with doing a restore to your backup but can you check if it does so after you downgrade to 10.0.2

I have been thinking of doing the downgrade myself but shying away because not sure if i will be able to update back to my currect backup (which is on 10.1 beta 4)

Hi All, I am using IPhone 7 plus, even I am also facing same issue. But Apple says 10.1 is a Public Beta. So what is the requirement developer account. If they wanna need developer account required to download the 10.1 beta, what is the use of everyone downloading the profile in their phones.

You are correct It is a public beta and you don't need a developer account to install the 10.1 public beta. The problem is there is apparently is a bug preventing some devices from seeing the beta OTA's. People with a developer account have the ability to download the beta IPSW from the Apple Developer download page and restore it manually. Those of us on the public beta do not have that ability.

I downgraded without any issues. After first boot it prompted me to install the update to 10.0.3. I declined. I then installed the 10.1 beta profile and reboot. Now it is telling me that 10.0.2 is the newest software.

I also tried "erase all content and settings" and then attempted to restore my 10.1 backup up (just for you). No luck.

"The backup “Cody’s iPhone - Oct 21, 2016, 4:07 AM” cannot be restored to this iPhone because the software on the iPhone is too old.

To restore this iPhone from this backup, you must first set up the iPhone as new and restore the software to the latest version."

I filled a bug report earlier today. #2374483 Will post if I hear back at all.

I submitted one as well. I am completely out of ideas. 😟

moderator!!! i give everybody the solution that works 100% and you always delete my post why

if anybody can help me i post 3 time how to update to last beta without developer account but the mod always delete it

its weird i guess they dont wont you to do it if its somthing else ill be glad to here its crazy i post last night for all of you guys but they keep delete my post!

ok i think they erase my post cause i gave you guys link to the image so!!!! what you need to do is this

find the ipsw image for iphone 7 plus beta 5 in the internet you can find it with fast search its easy i found it on reddit you just have to look for it

then after you have the full image file (around 2.3 giga) you just open latest itunes and press the shift+the update and thats it it will update your phone

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now the catch is that you dont have developer account right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so what you do before you making the update you make sure to have on your phone the beta profile that didnt worked for you guys after you have on your phone the beta profile the phone will think you developer and let you make the update otherwise it wont be ok and the update will not work

i hope you got it it very easy enjoy!!!!!!

exactly... this is an awful way to start with a new machine, days of close-to-uselessness... despite the fact that, to activate it to the point that I discovered I couldn't restore it, I had to deactivate the phone element of my old phone. Kinda seems like I'm going to have to carry two phones with me until 10.1.

Frustrating as this issue is I was relieved to see that this is clearly a widespread problem. Just spent two hours with Apple support chat before the tech told me they couldn't help with a beta problem and that I'd have to go to the developer community. Looking forward to an answer to this issue.

Hi bubu23bubu23

I too have an iPhone 7 Plus stuck on iOS 10.0.3. I'd followed ur intructions earlier before they were deleted. I have a Developer Account, I donwloaded the ipsw image from my account. I open iTunes on my iMac, press shift + update, it opens a Finder Window. I locate the file but it is greyed out and I can't select it. Any ideas why thats happening?

Thanks

Barry

It is strange how AppleCare hasn't been able to help as this issue is also found when trying to do an OTA update from 10.0.2 to 10.0.3.

That being said, have you tried contacting Developer Support?

https://developer.apple.com/contact/submit/

I followed the buba23 instructions and it worked on my new 7plus using PC and iTunes. Didn't like having to get iOS image from non-apple source, but apple leaves us non paid developers to fend for ourselves. I am so disapointed by Apples lack of support for this issue. Been fighting for two days including several hours with AppleCare support.

In my experience that was also beta profile related. If you remove the iOS Beta Software Profile then you can OTA from 10.0.2 to 10.0.3 without problem. I also sent documentation of that to developer support.

I have the exact same issue. I have installed the Beta Profile on my iPhone 7 Plus, but it still says " 10.0.3 up to date".

Here is the window back into the beta... Back on 10.1 beta 5 now!

Many Thanks to bubu23bubu23 and Konrad_T for the instructions.

I am fanatical about Apple. I only wish Apple felt the same about me. 😊

This worked for me. I downloaded 10.1 beta 4 to my Macbook, connected my iPhone 7 Plus, and installed it. My iPhone now shows the Public Beta 5 update as available.

THANKS MUCH, This worked for me! 🙂.

Worked for me, just need to get hold of the beta restore ipsw. Google it and you'll find it.

I have an iPhone 7 plus and also facing the same problem with all the guys here, stuck at 10.0.3... But if i am not mistaken, 10.0.3 is rolled out to solve some connection issue for iphone 7 plus or even iphone 7, so maybe Apple prevent us to go higher after we have install 10.0.3 to avoid some problem..

I think we just need to wait for final release to play safe..

Thank you, it worked!

I had the same issue and the above worked for me, downloaded beta 4 and used iTunes, then it updated to beta 5 OTA but now my phone does not recognise the official 10.1 update. What is going on ?
