Cannot download iOS 10.1 Public Beta on new iPhone 7 Plus

I had an iPhone 6 Plus until yesterday running iOS 10.1 Public Beta 4 and backed it up to iTunes and iCloud regularly.

I just got an iPhone 7 Plus and need to update it to iOS 10.1 beta as well so I can restore from backup, but I keep getting a 10.0.3 is up to date message when I try to download and install the Public Beta. I have correctly enrolled my new 7 Plus on the beta site and downloaded the correct beta profile (deleted and re-installed several times, in fact), but it just does not see that there's a beta version out there ready to be downloaded.

Unfortunately I do not have immediate access to a Mac to try updating it to 10.1 via iTunes as suggested by many on various forums, but hope to use a friend's Mac to try it tomorrow.

In the meantime, does anyone know how to fix the OTA download issue? I see online that many others who have upgraded to iPhone 7 Plus are having similar issues.

Same problem here. I took the steps I read on various message boards including deleting the beta profile multiple times and reinstalling, reinstalling the iOS multiple times, reseting preferences, and I believe doing the hokey pokey at some point. Nothing. Very frustrating to not only be locked out of the beta but to be unable to restore from my backup and forced to reset my world from scratch.

Same problem here on Iphone 7Plus, not able to update to 10.1 beta from 10.0.3, getting "Your software is up to date" eventhough beta prodile is installed. Anybody able to update please advise, clarification form Apple would be appreciated

I have the same issue. iPhone 7 Plus, Profile installed. "Your Software is up-to-date"

Contacted AppleCare and was told to wait for the GM release of 10.1

Me too... If u have any news, please send us!!!!

If you have the way, please help us!!!! Rgds

Hi

Any idea when the GM is set for release?

Thanks

Barry

Only Apple knows that right now.

Some other responses here have suggested that it will release on the same day as the upcoming media event next week.

Seems like something that Apple might do.

Hi

Not long to wait I guess to find out.

I've noticed that when I downloaded the iOS Dev Profile, the Feedback App wasn't installed :-s

Barry

Guys,

As per my post below had the same issue. I even exchanged the phone. Nothing worked. Until I found this!!!!!!!!

Make sure you do the Restore Image

Installing iOS beta Software on your device using the Restore Image

  1. Download the iOS beta software restore image for your device from the Apple Developer download page.
  2. Ensure you are running the latest version of iTunes on your Mac.
  3. Open iTunes on your Mac.
  4. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to your computer with the cable that came with your device.
  5. If a message asks for your device passcode or to Trust This Computer, follow the onscreen steps. If you forgot your passcode, get help.
  6. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod when it appears in iTunes.
  7. In the Summary panel, hold the Option key and click the Check for Update button.
  8. Select the iOS beta software restore image from step 1 and click Open to begin installation.
  9. After installing the beta, your device will reboot and will require a network connection to complete activation.

Hope it works for you too!!! I'M SO HAPPY!!

This is exactly my problem. I can't restore the phone because the back up is the latest public beta and iTunes refuses the restore because 10.0.3 is "too old".

Sadly, being a public beta user, I don't think this will work for me.
When I attach my 7 plus via the cable, it asks if I want to set it up as new or restore.

Does this approach assume that I've gone ahead with the new setup?
Also, would you provide a link to the page with the image file, I'm not confident I'm looking at the right one.

Apologies, not a total newbie but really want to get this right.

This works only for Paid Developer accounts. Sadly not Public Beta users. 😟

no my friend i dont have dev account!!!!!! i really dont im like you

but look try to have the beta profile install on your device restart as you should then the phone think you dev lollllll then update :-)

now it will work!!!!!

well????

im waiting you to enjoy the beta 5 solid rock plz do it it works 100%🙂

Fantastic, I am a developer, but had the same problems as above, curious how my 1st iPhone 7+ worked fine using the OTA updates, picked up a new Jet Black 7+ this am and ran into the same issues everyone else is having. However your solution works perfectly and you do not need to install XCode etc. It has allowed me to restore my previous backup. Many thanks, elegant solution. 🙂
