Do I need to hit Release Version for an unlisted extension link to go live?

I submitted a request for unlisted app on the app store and got approved with a link.

  1. Do I need to hit 'Release This Version' to make the link go live?
  2. Would it simultaneously get uploaded to the store?
  3. Can I revert back to publishing it on the app store at a later time?

I have the same question. I am not willing to risk making my app universally available so have not hit the Release Version button.
