Account deletion when it takes additional time for reviewing

Hello, I have a follow-up question on the topic:

“I manually delete user accounts and this takes time. Does account deletion need to be immediate and automatic? No. If your process for account deletion is manual or otherwise takes time to complete, this is acceptable. Inform the user how long it will take to delete the account and provide a confirmation when the deletion has been completed. Ensure the time taken to delete accounts complies with local laws where your app is available.”

What will happen to this account during the account deletion process in this case? Should we allow users to continue using this account? Or do we need to temporarily block this account until it is completely deleted?

Surely that's up to you? If your app is a credit card app and the user has asked to close their account, you wouldn't want them spending on the card, right? Does your business model allow a user to continue to do something while their account is being deleted. Deletion should be atomic - their account is useable, then it isn't. It's up to you to decide whether you block the account while it's being deleted, or not.
