I am reaching out to this community as I am new to software development and need your professional opinion.
I have recently purchased a Macbook Pro M1 Max Chip for the purpose of developing a software application that will run on both the Mac iOS system and Windows. I did some research on this and it appears that Apple was not initially the best laptop when it came to software development as many applications were not native to Apple's ecosystem. However, this has improved over the past two years and I have the following questions;
-
Is there still limitations when it comes to software development on a MacBook versus a Windows laptop? In other words, does there remain an advantage to using Windows when it comes to software development
-
If I were to complete the software development on the MacBook, how easily could I adjust the coding to make it adaptable to the Windows system
-
If I wanted the same capabilities that the M1 Max provides on a Windows laptop, would it cost the same amount as a MacBook or would it be cheaper? I live in Canada and I don't know if that makes a difference.
-
If I were to keep the MacBook, what applications would I need to purchase to fulfill my need to develop an application for Windows?
I really appreciate all of the feedback and comments provided.
