I have a similar question. In general, will the restore images for iOS 16.7.X be made available for newer devices? Currently, restore images are only available for iPhone X, iPhone , and iPhone 8 Plus but not any newer phones (looking at https://developer.apple.com/download).

@gm4sl no, they don't want to distribute iOS 16 to devices that are able to update to iOS 17
