Soft crash every few minutes

For the past week, the operating system has become unresponsive with no prior notice (nor can I provide actionable reproduction steps). The screen hangs, and the only thing that remains working is the home button haptic response. After a minute or so of this behavior, the OS dumps and I see the black screen+grey spinner soft boot. I’m also not able to purchase anything from the App Store. Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? 7+ , iOS 11 developer beta 3

Same here. 7 Plus - new in beta 3

Me as well on 7+. I have filed a bug and sent in a few sysdiagnose log dumps. I too have been trying to reproduce. Many times it happened when I quickly rotated from portrait to landscape. It would trigger the freeze (which wouldn't "kick in" until a few second later). For example, I would be watching an Amazon Prime downloaded video. App would be in portrait mode. I would select my video and play it. That would transform mode to landscape and I would rotate my iphone physically. Within a few seconds, all would freeze. Doesn't happen all of the time, but for that particular scenario, it happened to me like 10 times in a row within 45 minutes. Oh and I was using a Bluetooth headset. But I'm thinking it has to do with screen rotation, screen redraw, memory, video, accelerometer, things like that.

Sometimes I think I can almost reproduce by doing a quick rotation of the screen even on a web browser, where it goes from portrait to landscape. Can't always get it to work though.

It's an awful bug. Especially since recovering takes a few minutes each time.

Would love to find some commonalities to help Apple developers on this one!

I’ve been experiencing this (both the soft device crash and App Store issue) as well. I installed MobileIron, had it crash, uninstalled it and ever since then I haven’t been able to get any apps to install. It does look like Apps are able to update though at least. Is that your App Store experience as well?

Same here. This version feels like a step backwards.

Same issues here. Beta 3 runs great on my iPad Pro, but awful on my iPhone 7+. The phone constantly freezes, becomes unresponsive, and exhibits many springboard crashes. I also feel this beta is a step backwards. To echo previous comments, screen orientation is definitely a frequent cause for issues. Quick changes almost guarantee a freeze or crash.

This is one of the first times I have ever considered rolling back to 10.3 but, this is happening far too often. I almost feel as if I need to carry two phones.

I am also having these kinds of problems running developer beta 3. It is very inconvenient to work with the iPhone7 when this is happening. I have not noticed it yet on iPad Pro 9.7. I definitely have noticed a linkage to iphone physical rotation / orientation as well. I also randomly seem to get the spinning grey circle of a soft reboot. I tried to go for a walk last night with the phone in my pocket recording the walk with Strava. It was unable to do so because it must have had several soft resets in my pocket while on the walk. Every time I pulled the phone out to check how far Strava had recorded it was starting from 0.0 again each time.

I have also had lots of problems downloading from App Store on the iPhone. I have also noticed when I sync my phone with iTunes on MacBook Pro TB running latest High Sierra PB that only about 1% of the Apps installed onto my iPhone appear listed in the Apps tab in iTunes on the laptop.

I was able to download a few Apps with iTunes on the laptop and they would then appear on the laptop iTunes with an option to Install onto the iPhone. That method of installing Apps onto the iPhone was successful for me.

Just lots of odd issues with the iOS 11 Beta. iOS9 and iOS 10 Betas did not have significant bugs like this (that I remember). In a way, I'm glad it's not just issues with my iphone 7. lol. Hopefully some of these will get stomped out in beta 4!

OS 11 beta 3 is very buggy on my iPhone 7 and crashes completely once a day. (Most recently in the YouTube app) Then it is a gamble whether it makes a perfect restart or not, otherwise it remains with the "code enter" and he boots again. The whole can go then already times half an hour, until the iPhone catches itself again. Have it already restored. Do you have something like this already times with the beta?

Agreed.

Same here on my 7+ and almost identical scenario, I notice the crashing when rotating the phone between landscape and portrait. Frustrating!

Here is something to test. I used the software screen location lock to prevent my iPhone 7+ from going into landscape mode. So far, I have only encountered one crash of Springboard compared to 10-20 normally. Not saying this stops it, but it definitely reduced the issue for me. Would love others to test this and see if the crash is indeed connected with screen rotation. Will update my bug with Apple.

Yes me too, many apps are crashing and I feel there is a big lag on the touch screen when clicking on an app.

I hope they fix this soon, kinda frustrating lol.

I'm sure with all the talk they will address it.

I'm using Iphone 7plus

Same here, I also think the spinning grey circle of a soft reboot is eating my battery life

I wonder how long before a beta update. This is deja vue from when I use to have an android phone lol

I love my apple,it's torturous to live thru the beta versions lol but in the end it will work out great!!
