In VisionOS, for real-time streaming of large 3D scenes, I plan to create Metal buffers and textures in multiple threads and then use a compute shader on the main thread to copy the Metal resources into RealityKit, minimizing main thread usage. Given that most of RealityKit's default APIs require execution on the main actor (main thread), it is not ideal for streaming data. Is this approach the best way to handle streaming data and real-time rendering?

I'm running into an issue with collisions between two entities with a character controller component. In the collision handler for moveCharacter the collision has both hitEntity and characterEntity set to the same object. This object is the entity that was moved with moveCharacter()
The below example configures 3 objects.
stationary sphere with character controller
falling sphere with character controller
a stationary cube with a collision component
if the falling sphere hits the stationary sphere then the collision handler reports both hitEntity and characterEntity to be the falling sphere. I would expect that the hitEntity would be the stationary sphere and the character entity would be the falling sphere.
if the falling sphere hits the cube with a collision component the the hit entity is the cube and the characterEntity is the falling sphere as expected.
Is this the expected behavior? The entities act as expected visually however if I want the spheres to react differently depending on what character they collided with then I am not getting the expected results. IE: If a player controlled character collides with a NPC then exchange resource with NPC. if player collides with enemy then take damage.

TLDR; I can't get QueueName to work with matchmaking a turn-based match in Unity using matchmaking rules.

I have created a Queue, RuleSet and a simple Rule to match players by following these docs tightly: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/gamekit/finding-players-using-matchmaking-rules.

which belongs to a rule set which belongs to a queue. I have verified these are setup and linked via the App Store Connect API. Additionally, when I tested queue-based matchmaking without a queue established, I got an error in Unity. Now, with this, I do not. However there is a problem when I attempt to use the queue for matchmaking.
I have the basic C# function here:

The
_PreferencesToQueue(GetSerializedPreferences());
returns the exact name of the queue I added my ruleset to.
After this function is called, I poll the task generated from the .Find(...) function. Every time I run this function, a new match is created almost instantly. No two players are ever added to the same match.
Further, I'm running two built game instances, one on a mac and another on an ipad and when I simultaneously test, I am unable to join games this way.
Can someone help me debug why I cannot seem to match make when using a queue based approach?
Hi all im having a variety of issues with gamekit matchmaking. On the simulator the matchmaking ui pops up and I can click Quick Match, then immediately "Failed to find Players" this is the same with a real Apple ID and a sandbox account.
If I use real devices the app at least discovers a match, but then the match none of the delegate methods for the match ever get called and the logs are filled with socket not connected and various errors.
My questions are:
Should match making via quick match work in the simulator, I have seen tutorial videos etc of this working, but I can't seem to get it to work.
How do people debug issues with GameCenter / Gamekit to find out why its not able to connect?

I tried using

I’m currently learning about ParticleEmitterComponentParticleEmitterComponent and exploring the sample app provided in the Simulating particles in your visionOS app documentation.
In the sample app, when I set the EmitterPreset to fireworks from the settings panel on the left side of the window and choose SystemImage, I noticed two issues:
The image applied to mainEmitter appears clipped or cropped.
The image on spawnedEmitter does not update to the selected SystemImage.
What I want to achieve:
Apply the same SystemImage to both mainEmittermainEmitter and spawnedEmitterspawnedEmitter so that it displays correctly without clipping.
Remove the animation that changes the size of spawnedEmitterspawnedEmitter over time and keep it at a constant size.
Could someone explain which properties should be adjusted to achieve this behavior? Any guidance or examples would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to understand how Apple handles dragging windows around in an immersive space. 3d Gestures seem to be only half of the solution in that they are great if you're standing still and want to move the window an exaggerated amount around the environment, but if you then start walking while dragging, the amplified gesture sends the entity flying off into the distance. It seems they quickly transition from one coordinate system to another depending on if the user is physically moving. If you drag a window and start walking the movement suddenly matches your speed. When you stop moving, you can push and pull the windows around again like a super hero. Am I missing something obvious in how to copy this behavior? Hello world, which uses the 3d gesture has the same problem. You can move the world around but if you walk with it, it flies off. Are they tracking the head movement and if it's moved more than a certain amount it uses that offset instead? Is there anything out of the box that can do this before I try and hack my own solution?
When testing my development build for gamecenter authentication, the game crashes. I've breadcrumbed it to the "await GKLocalPlayer.Authenticate();" call. Can't find any documentation on this issue and have been looking through the forums!
I've already done all of the usual stuff like verifying bundle identifiers match, ensuring game center is enabled for the app, setting up app store connect, using a sandbox account, etc...
Please point me to some resources if you know any. Any help is appreciated, I'm starting to lose hope here!

I’m deploying large language models on iPhone using llama.cpp. A new iPhone Air (12 GB RAM) reports a Metal MTLDevice.recommendedMaxWorkingSetSize of 8,192 MB, and my attempt to load Llama-2-13B Q4_K (~7.32 GB weights) fails during model initialization.

Loading Llama-2-13B Q4_K (7.32 GB) fails to complete. Logs indicate memory pressure / allocation issues consistent with the 8 GB working-set guidance.
Smaller models (e.g., 7B/8B with similar quantization) load and run (8B Q4_K provide around 9 tokens/second decoding speed).
Questions
Is 8,192 MB an expected recommendedMaxWorkingSetSize on a 12 GB iPhone?
What values should I expect on other 2025 devices including iPhone 17 (8 GB RAM) and iPhone 17 Pro (12 GB RAM)
Is it strictly enforced by Metal allocations (heaps/buffers), or advisory for best performance/eviction behavior?
Can a process practically exceed this for long-lived buffers without immediate Jetsam risk?
Any guidance for LLM scenarios near the limit?
I'm using RealityView in my iOS game mxied with SwiftUI. For the following 2 example usages, the simulator will only render the first RealityView, and the second one is either super laggy or show a black model. Running on the real device is all good, just simualtor has this issue.
Have a TabView and each tab has a RealityView.
Have a root view and detail view connected via a push navigation, both root and detail have a RealityView.
In the Simulator, the second RealityView is going to be very choppy and basically unusable, but on a real iPhone everything looks great.
Is this a known simulator issue or I did something bad?
as in the environments we have real tiem reflections of movies on a screen or reflections of the surrounding hood in the background...
could i get a metallic surface getting accurate reflections of a box on top ?

MacOS 26 Betas are limiting games (noticeably, games that use java) to the native display of the MacBook Pro (120hz). Even connecting an external display this is not changing. I have submitted a bug report, but I have not had any responses to it yet. I am looking to see if anyone may have an answer or fix to this issue.

In my SceneKit game I'm able to connect two players with GKMatchmakerViewController. Now I want to support the scenario where one of them disconnects and wants to reconnect. I tried to do this with this code:

But after presenting the view controller with GKMatchmakerViewController(invite:), nothing else happens. I would expect matchmakerViewController(_:didFind:) to be called, or how would I get an instance of GKMatch?
Here is the code I use to reproduce the issue, and below the reproduction steps.
Code
Run the attached project on an iPad and a Mac simultaneously.
On both devices, tap the ship to connect to GameCenter.
Create an automatched match by tapping the rightmost icon on both devices.
When the two devices are matched, on iPad close the dialog and tap on the ship to disconnect from GameCenter.
Wait some time until the Mac detects the disconnect and automatically sends an invitation to join again.
When the notification arrives on the iPad, tap it, then tap the ship to connect to GameCenter again. The iPad receives the call player(_:didAccept:), but nothing else, so there’s no way to get a GKMatch instance again.
Looks like is something to do with the code and that is why my images are distorted. please help me get to the right person to help me get this issue resolved

I am trying to simulate a paste command and it seems to not want to paste. It worked at one point with the same code and now is causing issues.

I know that there is some issues around permissions and so in my Info.plist I have this:

I have also disabled sandbox. It does ask me if I want to give the app permissions but after approving it, it still doesn't paste.

The Issue: The application crashes hard (__abort_with_payload) in "libsystem_kernel.dylib" on Task 6 immediately after initialization. This appears to be a deliberate abort triggered by the compositor, not a typical crash.
The issue occurs on both physical device and simulator.
Important detail:
The console output shows a specific CLIENT BUG assertion. By checking the metadata of the warning, I found that it is related to "Library: CompositorNonUI".

I tried to install GPTK again, since I had to reinstall the OS for irrelevant reasons. But every time I try to install the tool kit, it gives me theError: apple/apple/game-porting-toolkit 1.1 did not build error. Before that error occired, I had the Openssl error, which I fixed with the rbenv version of openssl. Is there any way to fix this error? Down bellow you'll find the full error message it gave me. The specs for my Mac are (if they are helpful in any way): M1 Pro MBP 14" with 16GB Ram and 512GB SSD.

We are developing a hybrid iOS app where Angular content is rendered inside a WKWebView, hosted by a native Swift application.
We use the GameController framework to detect whether an external Bluetooth keyboard is connected to an iPad. The following code is executed when the app enters the foreground and also when requested by the web layer:

I'm running into a persistent visual issue while deploying a floral corridor scene to Apple Vision Pro using Unity 6.0 with URP and Metal. The issue only appears on the Vision Pro device — everything looks fine in the Unity Editor.
Issue Description
When the frame rate drops to around 60–70 FPS, noticeable distortion artifacts appear around the edges of foliage models. It seems like the background meshes (behind the plants) get warped and leak through the edges of the foliage. Although this is most visible around the leaves, even solid objects like standard URP wall or box models show distorted edges when the issue occurs.
All the foliage uses Opaque or Alpha Clipping materials.
Things I've Tried
Changing the foliage materials to Transparent mode —distortion around edges disappears, but using Transparent for a large number of foliage assets is not ideal for performance or sorting complexity.
Reducing the number of foliage objects — with only a few plants in the scene and the frame rate staying around 100 FPS, the distortion disappears. However, this isn’t a practical solution for a full environment.
Possible Cause?
I came across this note in the Unity documentation:
"Ensure depth-buffer for each pixel is non-zero - on visionOS, the depth buffer is used for reprojection. To ensure visual effects like skyboxes and shaders are displayed beautifully, ensure that some value is written to the depth for each pixel."
Could this be related to the issue? Is it possible that Alpha Clipping with low pixel coverage leads to some pixels not writing to the depth buffer, which then causes problems during Vision Pro’s reprojection or foveated rendering? However, even when I disable Alpha Clipping entirely, the distortion issue still persists, so it may not be solely caused by clipping itself.
