apple pencil battery life

Nothing seems to work to fix this. Resetting the battery provided slight relief, and now it's back to charging twice a day just for pretty light use. Never happened before. Apple is losing lawsuits globally for unethical behaviour. We can only hope that the battery drain is a bug, not a feature. Why can't Apple address the concerns? Will iOS 14.3 solve this, or not? I am on the verge of going Android for life.

@eskimo We would similarly love if Apple could provide more guidance on best practices to optimize network extensions for battery life, and what exactly drives the power consumption data displayed in Settings. Some of our customers complain to us about battery life due to the scary data reported in Settings, but we don't really know for sure what is driving those numbers up. We have very few tools at our disposal to diagnose issues. No powerlog data is available outside of the plsql files in a sysdiagnose, and it is really hard to get customers to submit one of those. It would really help if MetricKit could be used to extract power consumption data in a privacy-aware fashion, for instance giving us powerlog data for processes in our bundle. Data points that are fundamental for battery life investigation, like cellular / Wi-Fi modem wakes, are not currently available outside of sysdiagnoses which means that we cannot collect them in bulk.

I updated the small ~15mb update last night, now my battery is terrible ~10% after 6 hours of light to no use. I was seeing 15-22 hours battery life on the beta.

Everyone knows Mat is correct. This happens every single year, and people still mindlessly update their only device and complain despite knowing it's only beta 1. Metrics are being gathered, Siri is probably indexing, and likely little to no effort has gone into optimization of code or battery life. Complaining here because you needed to say something isn't really helpful to anyone, so don't get all offended when you receive responses reminding you that there should be no expectation at all regarding performance or battery life in the early betas. Battery life usually starts improving after beta 2 or 3. I hope that some of this may be due to indexing and that it improves for you soon, but you may want to reset your expectations if it doesnt.

Interesting is;I only have reduced battery life on my iphone 6. On my iPad Air 2 bettery life is not that bad. I think it's reduced too but not that dramatically.The mail configuration etc is the same on both devices!

Hi and welcome to Developer Forums! PencilHoverPose is only available while an Apple Pencil is hovering in the area above the view’s bounds when the squeeze gesture or a double-tap gesture occurs. Turning off Detect Gym Equipment in the workout app settings will drastically improve your battery life.

If the Apple Pencil 2 is removed when Magic Keyboard is attached, the Pencil would not function no matter it was shown charging or connected on screen. I would have to put the Pencil back to its charging position, remove the Magic Keyboard, take out the Pencil again for the Pencil to function. The Pencil remains in function as long as it is not put back to charge, even if you attach it back to the Magic Keyboard. But if it is with the Keyboard and once you put the Pencil back to charge, you would have to perform the above again to use the Pencil. No help on soft reset or shutting down, connecting another Pencil or charging with another iPad.

Literally charged my Ultra with freshly installed Watch OS 11 last night to 100% before bed, woke up with 10% battery. prior to update I was getting 3 days of battery life!!!

The first betas of iOS 8 were TERRIBLE with battery life, you are correct. I forgot all about the logging that was going on.

Battery life problems w/ios betas have been hashtagged more than snakesonaplane - worry when it happens with the release version.

Considering it is my only device, I can't say i am forced to use iOS 9...but since it is good to test with the latest version, so i am here to report my finding..Historically iOS betas alwasy had poor battery life but never had anything like getting 20% left half day ....wich is surprising considering it is an update tailored at improving battery life...Will i survive? YES Do I understand it is beta? YES ....will it improve? YES an I worried? NO.... but I have to say i am not happy.. now i have to traverl with my battery pack always behind...::(
