Reply to iOS 14 Beta Battery drain on iPhone 6s
This is nothing new, every two years when it is time to upgrade phones or some great unveiling, there seems to always be some sort of malfunction to iPhones (battery, charging). I posted a day ago, but it got deleted. Apparently this is an ongoing issue with Apple. The email I received states there is a class action lawsuit which claims that a performance management feature on iPhone 6---7 plus including iOS 10---11 diminished the performance of some of those devices. If this happened a couple of years ago, we all know it is going to continue. After updating to iOS 14, my phone will not stay charged (losing 50% battery life in an hour). Even when I charge it, the battery life WILL NOT increase unless I leave it charged over night. Just do right and fix the issue, please. Asking for friends.....

Pen or mouse control API
Hello fellow developers.I currently have a custom peice of hardware that uses a Pen, like a wacom tablet, except it has a computer connected to it and it has a network connection, the software on the device sends pen movement details thru network. Now, if I want to interfece with MacOS and have this device recognised as a Pen on the Mac what frameworks do I have to look at, what needs to be my aproach.Do I write a userspace program and make this program look like a pen to the system or do I have to look at building a driver?I really dont know where to start. Thanks for your pointers!Sandro.

Reply to What a change in beta 3!
I think the extra power we see in Beta 3 is misleading. Apple stated1. Apple Pay is not functional with this beta.2. During an active workout session, new heart rate samples are not generated when the screen is off.3. Haptic feedback does not work with this beta. (not everyone is experience this)All of those items drain the battery and they're not working. So I believe its non-operational features that are giving the boost in battery life that we're seeing.

Reply to iOS 9 Beta battery life
Hey Andrea. Yes Its terrable on both my 6 plus and ipad air. I was hiking with my Dog for a couple miles and she went swimming and two hours later it was 60% left. I posted facebook videos and texed stuff too, but as with most Betas the first Beta is terrable for battery life. I cant revert back cause im using Watch 02 and I cant go back to 01 on the watch and BTW that battery life took a hit too.

Reply to Haptic feedback in background
I have the same issue. I am trying to a workout app and I would like to send alert to the user via haptic feedback while he is training (and not necessarily looking the watch). I believe Apple makes those kind of restrictions to save battery life, but you end up with a useless device.

Reply to When I installed the iOS 9 beta on my iPhone6 Plus it began to drain the battery very quickly and feels very warm all the time. Does anyone else have this problem?
Yes, as with almost each beta each year, battery life goes down drastically until closer to the final release. Both the watch and phone would easily get through a day where is in iOS 9 and WatchOS 2 barely makes it half a day. This is common and is why the betas are currently only available for dev testing purposes and not meant for using on your daily phone or watch. The final release should be the same or better battery life than iOS 8 and Watch 1.0.

Reply to Watch OS 2 b2 battery life
Has anyone seen a difference in battery performnce since last night? I put on airplane mode for whole day and decided to turn it off. So far, the battery life is back to normal and no freezing. But I disabled 3rd party apps notifications. Will turn them on later to test.

Reply to MacOS Big Sur Lagging
Since upgrading to Big Sur, I have been experiencing slow reboots, crashes, spinning beach balls of death, lagging applications (mail, Firefox, Chrome, MS Office, Notes, Calendar, etc), and very poor battery life. The battery duration went from 6-7 hours of regular use to less than 2 hours of same use. The battery health reports Normal, but it's anything but normal. I installed the latest 11.4 patch with no improvement of battery life or performance. The Big Sur has essentially killed my Mac Air. Please fix both battery and performance to pre-Big Sur. MacBook Air (13-inch 2017) 1.8 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536MB Thanks!

Reply to Scrolling with Apple Pencil does not work in 9.3.
Hopefully this interview with Ive was not a sign to come that Apple will restrict the Pencil to marking features only. http://appleinsider.com/articles/15/11/17/jony-ive-apple-pencil-is-clearly-for-marking-not-a-stylus-finger-replacement

Reply to On-demand background downloading on watchOS
URLSession background sessions get you download behavior that is sensitive to network conditions and battery life. They are the recommended way to download files to the watch.

Reply to iPhone 6 Battery Life after iOS 9 Upgrade
The lock screen took most of my battery life. By turning off some of the search results [settings--general--search], it helped lower the % of the lock screen.
