My NFC tags are only working with the shortcuts app on my iPhone 11. I am trying to write code on them using the “ NFC tools” app. Whenever I try to write code on them using this app the NFC tags never connect. I have tried different apps that allows you to write code on NFC tags but none of them work. I know it not the tags because I use the same apps on my android devices and they work also I have seen others you the same apps on there iPhones and there’s also works too. Am I doing something wrong or is there another to write code on NFC tags using iPhone.

Is it possible to write an NFC app that has nothing to do with any payment systems?I am assuming the wallet / apple pay is an NFC applicaiton.Is there an API for custom NFC apps?

Hi,Will iOS 11 allow NFC tags to be read when our apps are in the background, or only when they are in the foreground?Assuming background is supported, will the app wake up and become the foreground app (and the screen turn on) if the user swipes their locked phone over an NFC tag? Or will the user need to manually initiate something?I have a potential customer who wants to use NFC tags in a retail environment as part of a loyalty program. One thing the customer wants to do is subscribe the user to push notifications when they swipe a tag -- obviously this will involve some permissions UI the first time it happens.
