Having issues authorizing payment for Apple Developer Program

Hey guys

I’ve been trying to pay for Apple Developer Program enrollment for about a week and still no luck. As well as I got from a small talk with the customer support – Apple never got my money. So it seems like my payment authorization fails all the time. But I don’t know what’s really going on.

Have any of you ever had issues like that?

Or maybe you just know what’s going on and how to fix it?

We do accept Russian credit cards to pay for the Apple Developer Program. If you've been unable to complete your order, please reach out to Apple Developer Program Support for assistance. Please note that you may be asked to provide verification details as part of the order completion process. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

Posting possible solution that worked for me below.

I also had similar problem for 1 month +, tried to purchase from Web and Developer app, had "Purchasing failed" from both of the platforms.

I tried 2 different solutions for myself, so not sure which one eventually worked for me, but feel free to try both:

Solution 1: For some reason, on my iPhone settings -> click on your name -> Sign-in & Security, my phone number had warning next to it ("This phone number has to have SIM card ....."), not sure why, because i have SIM card on my phone. Fix was to enable iMessage in iPhone settings -> Messages, and enable iMessage.

Solution 2: Initially everywhere i tried to pay with Apple Pay (Wallet app), which always gave me an error "Purchasing failed", i tried removing ALL cards from my Wallet app, so i only had my default payment method left (Which you can add in iPhone settings -> click on your name -> Payment & Shipping), paying through that i finally got Success message.

Wishing you all good luck, hopefully one of the fixes mentioned in this 30+ pages thread will work for you.

Hello! I'm also having trouble processing the credit card. I tried it with different cards from different brands. Apple, please improve this process. Any suggestions on how to solve my problem?

Is more than two weeks now I made this request... The purchase went through immediately over the web app... but, It still gives me the option to purchase a program. please could somebody here tell me how to solve this issue and how long it take?

also, my Mastercard has still not yet been charged for the purchase

Thanks in advance!

Same here, I`ve been trying for the last 3 weeks or so and nothing, no error. My account is not charged, account that I use for the purchases of icloud. Not sure what else to try.

Very strange payment system. Why up to 2 days? Why not a modern instant payment system that asks for CVC and opens the banks confirmation window if necessary? This isn't the 19th century anymore. Mastercard from first world country doesn't work.

It has been 2 weeks now and still issues. Initially went through the web. The web payment went through 2 days after I tried to enroll, but because they did not use the CVC, my bank returned it because of suspicious activity. I emailed them (as there is no number to call) but they reponded only after 1 week! They said I should submit payment and enroll via the app, which I tried, but the enroll button is greyed out. I mailed them again, and it took ANOTHER week to reply with EXACTLY the same scripted email... I really cannot believe that an organization like apple has this archaic processes and payment systems in place.

We have the same issue here. Trying to purchase a developer program for over 8 months. We tried everything. Using the Developer app (that is so bad that I don't know how it got through review), and different credit cards. Contacting support, which helped previously is now useless. We may get a response once for every third, or fourth email sent... We are running out of options. Does anyone have any ideas?

We have the same issue here. Trying to purchase a developer program for over 3 months. We tried everything. Different Ntbooks, phones, and different credit cards. I had this problem for a few weeks, but now it's working. (I'm in the US btw.)

The key part was the very last step. Although the billing info for a company credit card was tricky, it was at least manageable. The problem was the contact info.

Although the Apple Dev portal doesn't say this, the contact info is for confirmation (think of 2-fac authentication). The email and phone number must match what the bank already has for verification. I couldn't get that information for my company's credit card, so I had to figure out something else.

I ended up using a personal bank card to make the purchase, then filing an expense report. This worked because I knew the EXACT billing and contact details.

I have seen some people say they tried a personal credit/debit card, and that still failed. It didn't work for me either. That is, until I changed the contact info to my personal email address and my personal mobile number.

Solution:

I used the solution to the comment above me.

I paid using my dads bank card AND made sure the contact information (underneath billing address ) was definitely linked to the bank card .

All that i changed from the multiple attempts compared to the successful attempt was changing the contact information and card.

I hope anyone reading this gets a positive outcome as this does get really annoying.

all the best!

Make sure your birthday info in the Apple account is same as the one you left in the bank.

Hi all, Here's my solution, try it for yourselves:

  • check the E-mail address and phone number on the payment page (should be the same as the one recorded in your bank)
  • check your card details (card number, CVV, expiry date)
  • check your billing address (same as the one recorded in your bank)

In my case, I typed in my Apple account email address on the payment page instead of my personal email that I gave to my banks, which caused the payment failure.

Hope that helps some of you.

Apple has the worst support in the world. They always have 2 options - "You can't enroll" (I see that I can't enroll), or they ignore you. You are the most technological company in the world, and you use an ancient payment service. What should take minutes, stretches out for months. You have thousands of professionals, but no one can look at the logs and say what the problem is. Why do you need support if it does nothing? You have Apple Pay, why we can't use it? Any small company can configure payments, but you can't!!

Did anyone get the solution ?

As in 2024 I am also facing this error in India and its already 2 months connecting with every support of apple with no luck.

I am not option to enroll from web and in App I am getting this error which is completely ridiculous.

Apple and the terrible payment system

I've also been facing this problem for several days and I haven't received any feedback from Apple about failure or success, I just keep trying to pay again every week that passes.

After multiple attempts with 4 different cards from 3 banks, I kept getting an "Authorization failed" error. However, when I carefully corrected the billing address details and tried again with a previously unsuccessful card, the payment finally went through.

It's worth noting that in a previous attempt, the money was deducted from my card, but Apple claimed they didn't receive it. They then refunded the amount.

At this point, I'm still uncertain if my Apple Developer account will be approved. I'll update once I have more information. For now, my advice is to double-check every detail of your billing address and ensure it matches exactly with your card information. This seems to be crucial for successful payment processing.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I paid $99 for the Apple Developer Program on October 9, 2024, and the payment was debited, but my account hasn’t been activated, and I haven’t received a refund. I’ve reached out to support multiple times, but have only received delayed responses with no clear resolution. It's disappointing to encounter this level of service from Apple. I hope Apple takes these concerns seriously, as it's clear many developers are facing similar frustrations.

Can confirm the solution to the initial payment failure: the email/adress/phone.. in the checkout MUST be the same as in your bank account. After looking it up and correcting, it worked.

I am having the same issue. Mobile banking asks for the payment to be approved which I do, it says payment was successful but no money goes out the account and Apple say the payment didnt go through. Tried 4 different cards from 4 different bank and all do the same.

People have been posting just here in this thread for over 4 years with the same issue. You would have thought Apple would sort their problems out but maybe they have enough money and just dont care.

as now almost 2025 i still stuck on this problem around 2 week already , no solution event i chart to apple developer support

I'm having the same problem. Has your problem been resolved?

The same with me. It's been about 3-4 weeks now. I'm not sure how difficult it is nowadays to complete an online payment. There must be a solution. If anyone has resolved the issue please post.

https://chng.it/NY7Hq9rL2H Petition fro Apple about Developers Program Please spread it out

This is why they have stagnated. They have become the beast that eats its own tail. lol. Let them die

Good afternoon. I have a problem with the fact that they deducted $99 from me on February 13, 2025, but they never gave me a developer ID. I assume that the problem arose due to the fact that during the first attempts to write off, there was a limit on the card for online purchases. But then I removed this limit, and the payment went through. Please help me as I have been trying to register for a long time. Thank you
