iOS 14 Significant Impact to battery life.

I’ve noticed a significant impact to the battery life of my 11 Pro since installing iOS 14. I would average approximately 15 to 20% remaining end of day With average use. Post install I’m seeing between five and 10% remaining end of day.

Average use is approximately 5 to 6 hours per day with non-charge time of 10 to 14 hours.

It’s also safe to note that I’ve noticed a significant increase in the heat output of the back of the phone since installing iOS 14. Enough to become discomfort while in pocket.
Solution:
Hi! I have been facing similar issue for months. Yesterday I find out its causing for my sim card. I pulled out my sim card from phone and the phone started woking fine.

Then I replaced my sim card now my phone 11 pro is working fine.
Lives in Sai Gon ( Viet nam ), same problem due to Sim. If your sim view is as this

Before iOS 14 my iPhone was perfect. I never charge it when I sleep and it barely drops. But after downloading ios 14 the whole phone starts acting weird. My battery health is 91% but when the percentage is 15%, the screen will start to lag as I’m swiping between different pages. Then the phone would suddenly shutdown with atleast 10% left. I don’t know if it’s a hardware issue or an software issue. Does anyone know what to do?

Same here:

Installed Update yesterday and a significant Battery Drain is notable -> before I had iOS 13 -> Usage all day without any Problems (Battery has still 82% Capactiy)

Now I can watch Battery running down ...

Deactivated SIRI and Location Services and Widgets -> now it looses less Battery but doing Tasks -> E-Mail or Safari -> it drains again very fast

This is a shame ... my iPhone has still 60GB Memory left and worked fine until the update and I am not willing to buy a new one. Apple has to fix this.
iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 14.2, phone is very hot to the touch to my fingers RIGHT NOW IN THIS FORUM ON SAFARI/IOS as I’m posting.
My iphone 8 suddenly over heated while charging over night and then went weird. Massive battery usage, normally a charge goes 15 plus hours but was suddenly down to 6. I spoke to a local engineers who asked if ios 14.2 had downloaded. It had so i was advised to install it. Gradually the overheating went away but i am still using crazy amounts of battery power. Phone is only 18 months old so don't want to and can't afford to scrap it. Come on Apple this seems to be a big issue for a lot of people.
I had significant battery loss after installing IOS 14 on my iPhone XR. I think I have solved the problem by firstly backing up my iPhone on iTunes then doing a full restore that also recovered all my files and apps etc. Just remember to turn off "find my iPhone" and turn off firewall protection. I also suggest afer doing the backup restart iTunes and the iPhone
I'm having the same problems: overheating and battery drain. Turning off location services and VPN are the only things that have helped. My Macbook Air also overheats all the time. I'm seriously thinking of ditching Apple altogether.
Same problem here 11 Pro Max! I just updated to iOS 14.3 yesterday and earlier I charged my phone and after 20mins when I checked, it was very hot to touch. First time it happened to me and as I was looking for some answers I came by this topic. My phone somewhat became a tad bit slow too, that it’s unusual because I get bored waiting. You know when you’re used on doing your routine, you’ll notice a difference when something is off.

When I first got my phone I had no problems, charging nor overheating (nothing!) and I loved how fast it was. Then I had updates and the same thing is happening with my battery, draining fast and went to draining so fast (same usage). That’s the first thing that I noticed.

Does anyone have an answer? Don’t tell me that my charger might not be the “original” or whatever bs they are saying coz they are! I got it from Apple itself when I bought the phone! No apps were running while charging, so cross that out. To add to that I still have 330 gb available capacity, so it’s not my storage that is slowing it down.
Also have the same issue with battery life, downloaded the recent bug fixes and constant battery problems and overheating off phone.

Has anyone heard from Apple on this?
I’m facing the same problem at iOS 14 on my 11 pro . I have decided to sell my phone . Very much disappointment. Anyone got any solutions to this problem?
11 PRO & ios 14.4 (says phone is updated)

Everything was fine until the last few days. Now...it seems like the battery will be fine for several hours and then drop from 40% to 20% in a few minutes. When I get the low battery notification at 20%, I will receive another low battery notification in only a few minutes that the battery is down to 10%. Then I can watch it decrease to 1%, which takes less than 10 minutes.

phone hasn't yet shutdown due to overheating, but it's getting hot while I'm at home in the AC, looking at photos, twitter, or snap...

Checked battery performance today - says I need a new battery - max capacity at 81% --- BUT this time last week, although I hadn't checked my battery performance, I wasn't having any of these problems.

I don't know when the 14.4 update occurred, but if it was earlier than last week, I initially wasn't having problems.

I've turned off location services, turned on dark mode, turned off notifications for apps I don't care about, etc.

iphone12, after updated to 14.4.1, really hot, bettery decrease much faster than before.
My iPad Pro 12.9” is heating up too. Constantly warming up my lap. It feels very uncomfortable.
I am on software version of 14.4.2 on my 11pro and I am charging my phone twice a day for 100%. This is getting ridiculous as I cannot use my phone as normal and had to keep it on low power mode all the time.

Forcing me not to use my phone and keep it away from me. Not sure if that is the same issue with 12 series as well.

Thinking of an upgrade if that would be worth it. Not sure what to do ????

I had avoided updating the ios, since the purchase of my iphone 11 pro, exactly because i was afraid of this. Now, the phone is heating up when i’m using bluetooth, the battery is draining, and the apps are sooo slow to respond, especially the podcast app. Gotta look into resetting the phone to its original settings, but i doubt it’ll revert to the previous ios version…?

iPhone X same with update iOS 14, phone started to heat up excessively to the point that battery expanded and opened up my phone, no indication was given by phone that it was working with excessive energy demand or anything, did reset to original settings that strangely enough brought me to iOS 14.8 before reset I had 14.7!!!! Since I had no warranty at this point apple offered only battery replacement with 3 months warranty only and excessive cost. How ridiculous is it to charge a customer for giving such a tiny warranty time period and denying that it’s software issue, where so many other people with the same issue!!!

iOS 14 Significant Impact to battery life.
