How to delete WebAuthN credentials from MacOS?

I tried out registering via. FIDO2 using TouchID on my MacBook. Now the username I entered shows up when logging in under "saved accounts". Now I wan't to remove the account.

But how can I delete the WebAuthN credentials from my Mac-Device? There's no entry in "Keychain Access", where one could expect it, nor could I find anything in Safari's preferences.

Unlike iOS, clearing all website data does not clear credentials (which is probably a good thing).

Any luck with this?

  • Nope, apparently there is no way (at least not that I could find) other than to reinstall the OS of course.

Same problem. this might help: changing the app id will not show the users registered with an old (different) app id.

As of macOS 12.6.1 you can remove them from the Safari Saved passwords in the Safari Preferences panel as seen below
