New to macOS Development. How Do I Build a Timeline Editor UI Like Logic Pro?
Hi everyone, I’m new to macOS development and working on an app idea that needs a timeline-based editor interface, similar to what you see in Logic Pro or Final Cut. The UI I want to build would have: A horizontal beat ruler that follows BPM and shows beat positions Several vertical tracks stacked below it (for things like events or markers) Horizontal zooming and scrolling A preview panel on the right side that stays in sync with the timeline I’m currently trying this in SwiftUI, but I’m running into some limitations and wondering if AppKit would be a better fit, or maybe a hybrid of the two. My questions: Where should I start when building something like this? What’s the best way to make the beat ruler and all track layers scroll together? How should I handle zooming in/out and syncing the display to a BPM timeline? Is there a clean way to integrate AppKit for the timeline view while keeping SwiftUI elsewhere?

Network access has changed
I had, a long time ago (over 10 years) developed an application that is connected to my UPS (for solar panels). Until yet it worked very well, and I didnot have to compute more than making updates of XCode. That was all. But yet I have swiched to the latest value of switch, and it continue to compile, but it does'not work. I am asking to yo in order keeping my app working as previously. As it does not work, which library is replacing Cloudkit.framework ? and which library is replacing InsPersistantContainer.framework ? Have a good day Guy Desbief

Liquid glass - precent automatic color changes
I have an app that displays a MapView. While I am in light mode everything is fine. I can scroll around the map and my overlays (made by UIVisualEffectView containing an UIGlassEffect) stay light and look well! As soon as I change my phone to dark mode, depending on what's underneath the buttons (a light residential area or darker wooded areas) some of my buttons change color. But not all, only where it's supposedly lighter or darker underneath. This makes my whole UI look strange. Some buttons bright, some dark. Is there a way to lock a "color" or interfaceStyle to the effects-view? In light mode everything is fine, but in dark mode it just looks super strange.

Stacked-sheets vs. nav-stack-in-a-sheet for navigation hierarchies on top of a map
I couldn't help noticing that the Maps and Find My apps make extensive use of "sheets stacked on top of each other" to represent its navigation hierarchy, with a "new content comes in from the bottom" orientation instead of a navigation stack with "new content comes in from the right side" oriented transitions. I'm interested in this topic because I have a similar navigation-hierarchy-over-a-map case in my app (with a custom map view though) and I'm torn back and forth between the approach of replicating the "stacked sheets" vs. putting a navigation stack in a sheet, esp. with the navstack approach being way more attainable with the iOS 26 glass design. I couldn't find any guidance for this kind of UI in the Human Interface Guidelines; I'm leaning towards the navstack-approach for my app; but in terms of the behavior of the SwiftUI container views in this scenario it seems a little bit of an uphill path. Any thoughts on what pattern should be preferred for presenting a deep navigational hierarchy on top of a map-like view?

Few screen tap feedback ideas (and implementation YouTube video)
I've been playing around with iPad PRO M5 13" as part of my goal to implement some music relating SPH particle simulation effects on it - and this involves utilizing tap events also from the incredible looking fresh screen the device has. See more information from here, all should be overreactively implemented but the ideas remain (with almost zero cost copy fragment shader) : `https://youtu.be/ci-GSgQ0wlM` This attached image shows the tap effects implementation brought just bit a little further than in the video.

Icon looks broken on the App Store
Hi, I just had V1.0 of my app approved on the App Store and I immediately noticed that the icon preview is broken. It looks good in Xcode, on-device and also in the App Store link preview. The icon was built with Icon Composer. Here's the difference (left is App store): Has anyone encountered the same issue and found a solution?

Human Interface guideline for Game Center Login.
I can't find any documentation on design guidelines for "Login with Game Center" button. My app allows users to "Play as Guest" or "Login with Game Center". Since Apple provides somewhat strict guidelines for designing "Sign in with Apple" button, i was wondering how to design the button for Game Center login. Should i use Game Center icon. And will Apple review reject this?

Important Suggestions That Would Really Improve The iPhone and iPad OS
Hi there, I am a day-to-day user of Apple devices, I have always loved how simple and easy to use they are. However, the recent iOS 26 update has really raised some concerns which I want to address. This includes some toggle options which would allow Apple users to customise some features of the experience, to make it more accessible and tailored for us. Firstly, I would to mention the removal of the “Home Bar“ at the bottom of iPhone and iPad screens. Now, I do understand that a lot of people have got used to swiping up from the bottom of the screen to return to the Home Screen, or their Recent Apps. But a lot of people actually really miss this feature, and it really made Apple. Also, some older people or people with accessibility issues have found it hard to use iOS 26. I think that the best way to resolve this would be to include a Toggle option within the “Accessibility“ menu of the Settings app. This way, if people like me would like it back, they can choose to bring it back to their screens. Next, I have noticed that when receiving an incoming call, the ”Slide to Answer” text is no longer animated. This may seem like a minor point to talk about, but it was actually more legible before. It doesn‘t make sense that other things, such as stopping alarms and powering off iPhone/iPad still have the animation effect, but the slide-to-answer text on incoming calls is no longer animated. This could be fixed to make it animated, or the user could choose to have animated text within the settings app. Lastly, I think that the app toolbar should make a real comeback to iMessage. I do know that this hasn’t been a thing since iOS 17, but I did find that the app toolbar above the keyboard was really easy to use, with apps, stickers, GIFs and more at your fingertips, instead of having to access a side menu. Like my other suggestions, this would be another good opportunity for a toggle option so the user can choose whether to have the toolbar or not. This would actually suit the new Liquid Glass style in iOS 26, because it could be made floating, with a Liquid Glass background. To sum up, I would like 3 toggle options which would allow Apple Users to customise their experience. These would be, Toggle Option to bring back the “Home Bar” Toggle Option for animated text on incoming calls Toggle Option to revive the iMessage app toolbar Thank you so much for reading. ** I am the User of an iPhone 14 Pro and iPad Pro M4, and use the Developer beta versions of iOS and iPad OS 26.

Icon composer won't allow me to import any files
I have been battling the new Icon Composer app for 2 days trying to build an app icon. However, I cannot get it to import any files. I have used the Apple provided App Icon Template. I have exported my layers to .svg and when I open the finder, everything is disabled. I can't find help for this anywhere. I am on Sequoia on my Mac and not sure how to design this app icon without access to the composer.

Design Challenges with persistent toast message
I have an ongoing activity in progress. Think of: a delivery in progress house internet reboot in progress some water / electricity / internet / tv outage. (food) order processing I want to show a persistent toast message above the tab bar, across all tabs and screens across the app. It could take 15 minutes until the activity is finished. Obviously there's a challenge of: accessibility content overlaying with each other extra engineering effort. What we've thought of doing is: Option1: show a toast message, but when a modal is presented then it presents on top of the toast message. The toast message no longer updates itself. Once the modal is finished, then the toast message re-appears and continues to update. Option2: keep the toast message across all tabs and modals and work through the challenges mentioned Question: What are some other design approaches that could be taken to persist an ongoing activity (much like 'Live Activity', but just across the app when it's in foreground) or what are some design reasons that the two options considered are bad?

iOS Screenshot Markup – Rounded Crop Tool (UI Concept)
🔍 Context The built-in screenshot editor in iOS and iPadOS (Markup tool) only allows users to crop images using rectangular frames. While this is sufficient for basic editing, it lacks flexibility for those who wish to tailor the screenshot to the aesthetics of iOS itself — which relies heavily on rounded shapes and smooth UI elements. ⸻ 🚫 Current Limitation • After taking a screenshot and opening it in Markup, users can only crop in rectangular or square formats. • No option is available to apply rounded corners to the crop. • As a result, many users are forced to use third-party apps just to achieve a basic rounded-edge crop, which feels unnecessary for such a common need. ⸻ ✅ Proposed Solution Add a rounded corner cropping feature to the screenshot editor. This could be implemented as: • A toggle to activate “Rounded Crop”. • A radius slider (or predefined corner radius presets). • Optional: an export option to save the result with transparent background, useful for designers and mockups. ⸻ 🎯 Why it matters • Aligns better with the iOS design language (cards, notifications, widgets, etc.). • Saves time for users who currently have to rely on external editing apps. • Greatly improves the presentation of screenshots for social media, UI/UX mockups, blogs, and professional use cases. • Useful across many professions: developers, designers, content creators, educators, marketers. ⸻ 📷 Visual Example Here’s a mockup to illustrate the proposed feature: (Add your image here) ⸻ 💡 Bonus Suggestion Allow exporting with a transparent background when cropping screenshots — especially useful for rounded crops or mockups placed on colored backgrounds.

Questions about the Swift Student Challenge
Hello! I've been wondering about how strict the rules are for multilingual content in submissions, and also what I can use as screenshots. There are screens in my app, explained and accompanied by English, that have Chinese text/audio on them. Is this appropriate? Reading the Terms & Conditions says that "All content must be in English", but because multicultural themes are a main point of my app, it seems unavoidable to use other languages. I've attached images that show what I'm talking about: About the screenshots in my submission, am I allowed to show two screenshots side-by-side of a before & after of what an interaction does in one image? It'd look like two phone screenshots right next to each other.
