Whenever I start up Xcode 6.3.2 on Yosemite 10.10.3 and I try to create a new project I only have the option to change my title and my platform (either ios or os). It doesn't give me the other customizable option that I c in other videos such as https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/referencelibrary/GettingStarted/RoadMapiOS/Art/project_template_window_2x.png and https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/referencelibrary/GettingStarted/RoadMapiOS/Art/new_project_window_2x.pngIf u have any advice on how to fix this please tell me on this forum or send it to my email, jacobswist@gmail.comThank you,Jacob
There is always a penalty for using bleeding edge stuff. In the case of Swift, there has been significant penalties for early adopters as people have already discovered. From my understanding, people who have deployed Swift 1.x apps before will be forced to update to Swift 2 if they want to target anything specific to iOS 9 or OS X 10.11 (assuming those SDKs will not be available for Swift 1.x on Xcode 6 at least officially). Otherwise, it is safer to stay with Swift 1.x on Xcode 6 for now (and even more safer if you had not adopted Swift at all so you can target latest APIs in Xcode 7 without penalties). They have not officially confirmed yet which older iOS or OS X versions will be (and not be) supported for Swift 2. So, I am not sure how one can make a safe and informed decision on a migration path for a significant project using Swift. What is your compelling use case that requires you to convert an existing project to Swift 2? Worth thinking about. If the new language constructs, l

I took my existing project, ran the project and Swift migrations and now I get the following error when trying to compile.<unknown>:0: error: no such file or directory: '-Onone'I've tried starting over and building without the migrations and it still doesn't work.My project is a hybrid Swift and Objective-C project. The build appears to be failing when trying to compile the Swift module which appears to be for the Watch extension.CompileSwiftSources normal i386 com.apple.xcode.tools.swift.compiler cd /Users/MrRogers/Development/MyProjectPath export PATH=/Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/WatchSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin:/Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/usr/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin /Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/swiftc -incremental -module-name MyProject_WatchKit_Extension -Onone -sdkSo I removed it from my project and I get the same error message when trying to
You might be right that it is part of the reason. But they didn't have to make it open source for that reason alone. Nothing prevented them from keeping their Linux port to themselves. You make it open source if there is a benefit in either driving adoption or in faster and more efficient testing and bug fixes. Swift probably reached a plateau in adoption and was surely straining their resources in testing and bug fixing given its evolution history. Now they can deploy more of those testing and maintanence resources into Xcode (which is falling behind in capabilities relative to the latest IDEs in my opinion) as well as Apple SDK support.

I'm trying to create a Quick Look plugin using XCode 6.3. How do I use Cocoa in the project? XCode reports that it can't find <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>.I added the Cocoa framework to the project to no effect.
Swift 2.0 allow function error handling by using the throws keyword. The Swift doc explain that throws is part a a function type. Now I would like to use the same throw / try / catch mechanism to handle errors in the context of computed properties (i.e. throw an error in the get / set code). Is this possible now ? Planned for future Swift 2.x version ?Thanks,Datagram
In Xcode under Devices I can see my iPhone and the paired Watch information. I can see the log for the iPhone but I can't find anywhere to look at the log for the Watch. Is there a way to view the console log for the Watch?
You can't use that feature if you're running iOS 8.4, because there is no Developer Disk Image available for it in Xcode 7 as i figured. This is your problem if you're running 8.4 and get an error message similar to this one: Could not find Developer Disk Image

I downloaded the Xcode 7 beta and plugged in the iPad 1 that I use for testing apps that still support iOS 5.1.1, and Xcode said the device wasn't supported. I've been expecting Apple to drop support for the iPad 1 for a while, and it looks like that time has come. However, I'd like to know if Apple has stated this offically anywhere. Does anyone know? Here are the Xcode 7 release notes, but I didn't see anything there about what devices are supported:http://adcdownload.apple.com/WWDC_2015/Xcode_7_beta/Xcode_7_beta_Release_Notes.pdf
I just found out that iOS 8.4 wasn't supported by Xcode 7 and there's no Developer Disk Image available for it. I guess we'll have to wait until iOS 9 public beta then or try downgrading to 8.3.

ddeacon22 posted something that could help you here: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/3785Also, if you run iOS 8.4 on your device, that is not supported by Xcode 7 until now.

Right - people have noted that. But in the past Apple usually put the same release in the Downloads folder. Its not there. I don't want to pull it from the App Store due to reported complications by others (which may or may not exist, but the fact remains many devs are leary of using the App Store for Xcode).
