How to accept CloudKit shares with the new SwiftUI app lifecycle?
In the iOS 13 world, I had code like this: class SceneDelegate: UIResponder, UIWindowSceneDelegate { 		func windowScene(_ windowScene: UIWindowScene, userDidAcceptCloudKitShareWith cloudKitShareMetadata: CKShare.Metadata) { 				// do stuff with the metadata, eventually call CKAcceptSharesOperation 		} } I am migrating my app to the new SwiftUI app lifecycle, and can’t figure out where to put this method. It used to live in AppDelegate pre-iOS13, and I tried going back to that, but the AppDelegate version never gets called. There doesn’t seem to be a SceneDelegateAdaptor akin to UIApplicationDelegateAdaptor available, which would provide a bridge to the old code. So, I’m lost. How do I accept CloudKit shares with SwiftUI app lifecycle? 🙈

NSPersistentCloudkitContainer Memory Leak -> Crash? (iOS 15 beta 4 & 5)
Background I have an established app in the App Store which has been using NSPersistentCloudkitContainer since iOS 13 without any issues. I've been running my app normally on an iOS device running the iOS 15 betas, mainly to see problems arise before my users see them. Ever since iOS 15 (beta 4) my app has failed to sync changes - no matter how small the change. An upload 'starts' but never completes. After a minute or so the app quits to the Home Screen and no useful information can be gleaned from crash reports. Until now I've had no idea what's going on. Possible Bug in the API? I've managed to replicate this behaviour on the simulator and on another device when building my app with Xcode 13 (beta 5) on iOS 15 (beta 5). It appears that NSPersistentCloudkitContainer has a memory leak and keeps ramping up the RAM consumption (and CPU at 100%) until the operating system kills the app. No code of mine is running. I'm not really an expert on these things and I tried to use Instruments to see if that would show me anything. It appears to be related to NSCloudkitMirroringDelegate getting 'stuck' somehow but I have no idea what to do with this information. My Core Data database is not tiny, but not massive by any means and NSPersistentCloudkitContainer has had no problems syncing to iCloud prior to iOS 15 (beta 4). If I restore my App Data (from an external backup file - 700MB with lots of many-many, many-one relationships, ckAssets, etc.) the data all gets added to Core Data without an issue at all. The console log (see below) then shows that a sync is created, scheduled & then started... but no data is uploaded. At this point the memory consumption starts and all I see is 'backgroundTask' warnings appear (only related to CloudKit) with no code of mine running. CloudKit: how to handle CKError partialFailure when using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer?
I'm using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer with Core Data and I receive errors because my iCloud space is full. The errors printed are the following: <CKError 0x280df8e40: "Quota Exceeded" (25/2035); server message = "Quota exceeded"; op = 61846C533467A5DF; uuid = 6A144513-033F-42C2-9E27-693548EF2150; Retry after 342.0 seconds>. I want to inform the user about this issue, but I can't find a way to access the details of the error. I'm listening to NSPersistentCloudKitContainer.eventChangedNotification, I receive a error of type .partialFailure. But when I want to access the underlying errors, the partialErrorsByItemID property on the error is nil. CoreData CloudKit Sync not working between iOs and MacOS
Hi All, I work on a cross platform app, iOS/macOS. All devises on iOS could synchronize data from Coredata : I create a client, I see him an all iOS devices. But when I test on macOs (with TestFlight) the Mac app could not get any information from iOs devices. On Mac, cloud drive is working because I could download and upload documents and share it between all devices, so the account is working but with my App on MacOS, there is no synchronisation. idea????

Avoid Duplicate Records with CloudKit & CoreData
When my app starts it loads data (of vehicle models, manufacturers, ...) from JSON files into CoreData.  This content is static. Some CoreData entities have fields that can be set by the user, for example an isFavorite boolean field. How do I tell CloudKit that my CoreData objects are 'static' and must not be duplicated on other devices (that will also load it from JSON files). In other words, how can I make sure that the CloudKit knows that the record created from JSON for vehicle model XYZ on one device is the same record that was created from JSON on any other device? I'm using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer.

anyone getting the following error with CloudKit+CoreData on iOS16 RC? delete/resintall app, delete user CloudKit data and reset of environment don't fix. "Failed to set up CloudKit integration" in TestFlight build
I'm building a macOS + iOS SwiftUI app using Xcode 14.1b3 on a Mac running macOS 13.b11. The app uses Core Data + CloudKit. With development builds, CloudKit integration works on the Mac app and the iOS app. Existing records are fetched from iCloud, and new records are uploaded to iCloud. Everybody's happy. With TestFlight builds, the iOS app has no problems. But CloudKit integration isn't working in the Mac app at all. No existing records are fetched, no new records are uploaded. In the Console, I see this message: error: CoreData+CloudKit: Failed to set up CloudKit integration for store: <NSSQLCore: 0x1324079e0> (URL: <local file url>) Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4099 "The connection to service named com.apple.cloudd was invalidated: failed at lookup with error 159 - Sandbox restriction." UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=The connection to service named com.apple.cloudd was invalidated: failed at lookup with error 159 - Sandbox restriction.} I thought it might be that I was missing the com.apple.security.network.client entitlement, but adding that didn't help. Any suggestions what I might be missing? (It's my first sandboxed Mac app, so it might be really obvious to anyone but me.)

Is a 3-way merge possible when resolving CloudKit conflicts?
I'm trying to handle the serverRecordChanged return code you get in CKError when you have a conflict and your using the savePolicy of ifServerRecordUnchanged. According to the CKError.Code.serverRecordChanged documentation, I should be receiving all three records that I need to do a 3-way merge. The problem is that the ancestorRecord (CKRecordChangedErrorAncestorRecordKey can also be used to look it up in the userInfo) doesn't actually contain a record. It only contains the record metadata. Is there something I need to be doing to get the full ancestorRecord in the CKError? If not is it possible to query iCloud for the ancestorRecord? Given that iCloud has the change history (as I understand it), then it is theoretically possible. I just don't know how to do it if it is possible. Are 3-way merges even possible? The design of the serverRecordChanged looks like that is the intent, but I can't see how to do it with the data that CloudKit is providing.

Private database: failed to access iCloud data please signin again.
When I logged into my cloudkit console to inspect the database for some debugging work I couldn't access the private database. It keeps saying "failed to access iCloud data, please signi n again". No matter how many times I sign in again, whether with password or passwordless key it keeps saying the same thing. It says that message when I click on Public database, and private and shared databases are below it. I only noticed this a couple of days ago. It's done this in the past, but I eventually got back into the database but I don't know what changed to make it work.

SwiftData with shared and private containers
I was hoping for an update of SwiftData which adopted the use of shared and public CloudKit containers, in the same way it does for the private CloudKit container. So firstly, a big request to any Apple devs reading, for this to be a thing! Secondly, what would be a sensible way of adding a shared container in CloudKit to an existing app that is already using SwiftData? Would it be possible to use the new DataStore method to manage CloudKit syncing with a public or shared container?

SwiftData and CloudKit
Recently I've been working on a demo project called iLibrary. The main goal was to learn more about CloudKit and SwiftData. After a while I noticed that there were some hangs/freezes when running the app in debug mode. I first tried this with Xcode 15.4 and iOS 17.5. Here the hang only appears at the beginning, but only for a few seconds. But when I exit debug mode, there are no more hangs. With Xcode 16 beta 4 and iOS 18 it looks completely different. In this case, the hangs and freezes are always present, whether in debug mode or not. And it's not just at the beginning, it's throughout the app. I'm aware that this is still a beta, but I still find this weird. And when I profile this I see that the main thread gets quite overloaded. Interestingly, my app doesn't have that many operations going on. So I guess something with the sync of SwiftData or my CloudKitManger where I fetch some records from the public database is not running fine. Lastly, I wanted to delete the iCloud app data. So I went to Settings and tried to delete it, but it didn't work. Is this normal? Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Or has anyone encountered this problem as well? Strange behavior with 100k+ records in NSPersistentCloudKitContainer
I have been using the basic NSPersistentContainer with 100k+ records for a while now with no issues. The database size can fluctuate a bit but on average it takes up about 22mb on device. When I switch the container to NSPersistentCloudKitContainer, I see a massive increase in size to ~150mb initially. As the sync engine uploads records to iCloud it has ballooned to over 600mb on device. On top of that, the user's iCloud usage in settings reports that it takes up 1.7gb in the cloud. I understand new tables are added and history tracking is enabled but the size increase seems a bit drastic. I'm not sure how we got from 22mb to 1.7gb with the exact same data. A few other things that are important to note: I import all the 100k+ records at once when testing the different containers. At the time of the initial import there is only 1 relation (an import group record) that all the records are attached to. I save the background context only once after all the records and the import group have been made and added to the context. After the initial import, some of these records may have a few new relations added to them over time. I suppose this could be causing some of the size increase, but its only about 20,000 records that are updated. None of the records include files/ large binary data. Most of the attributes are encrypted. I'm syncing to the dev iCloud environment. When I do make a change to a single attribute in a record, CloudKit reports that every attribute has been modified (not sure if this is normal or not ) Also, When syncing to a new device, the sync can take hours - days. I'm guessing it's having to sync both the new records and the changes, but it exponentially gets slower as more records are downloaded. The console will show syncing activity, but new records are being added at a slower rate as more records are added. After about 50k records, it grinds to a halt and while the console still shows sync activity, only about 100 records are added every hour. All this to say i'm very confused where these issues are coming from. I'm sure its a combination of how i've setup my code and the vast record count, record history, etc. If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

SwiftData serious bug with relationships and CloudKit in iOS 18.0 (Xcode 16 Beta)
Hi guys. Can someone please confirm this bug so I report it? The issue is that SwiftData relationships don't update the views in some specific situations on devices running iOS 18 Beta. One clear example is with CloudKit. I created a small example for testing. The following code creates two @models, one to store bands and another to store their records. The following code works with no issues. The data appears on both devices, but if you include more views inside the List, the views on the second device are not updated to show the values of the relationships. For example, if you extract the row to a separate view, the second device shows the relationships as "Undefined". I inserted all the information on my iPhone. The first three rows were inserted with the first view. But the last two rows were inserted after I extracted the rows to a separate view. Here you can see that the relationships are nil and therefore shown as "Undefined". The views are not updated to show the real value of the relationship. This example shows the issue with CloudKit, but this also happens locally in some situations. The system doesn't detect updates in relationships and therefore doesn't refresh the views. Please, let me know if you can reproduce the issue. I'm using Mac Sequoia 15.1, and two devices with iOS 18.0.

Swiftdata cloudkit synchronization issues
Hi, I did cloudkit synchronization using swiftdata. However, synchronization does not occur automatically, and synchronization occurs intermittently only when the device is closed and opened. For confirmation, after changing the data in Device 1 (saving), when the data is fetched from Device 2, there is no change. I've heard that there's still an issue with swiftdata sync and Apple is currently troubleshooting it, is the phenomenon I'm experiencing in the current version normal?

What is CloudKit error: AssetUploadTokenRetrieveRequest request size exceeds limit
Some of my customer get the following CloudKit error (I cannot reproduce is myself). Failed to modify some records (CKErrorDomain:2) userInfo: CKErrorDescription:Failed to modify some records CKPartialErrors:{ "<CKRecordID: ooo; recordName=ooo, zoneID=ooo:__defaultOwner__>" = "<CKError 0x600003809ce0: \"Limit Exceeded\" (27/2023); server message = \"AssetUploadTokenRetrieveRequest request size exceeds limit\"; op = ooo; uuid = ooo; container ID = \"ooo\">" This is a CKError.limitExeeded error. I create 200 or less records in a batch operation. So I am below the 400 limit. Searching the Internet for "AssetUploadTokenRetrieveRequest request size exceeds limit": 0 results Can anyone give me a hint?

SwiftData migration error: NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate are not reusable
Hello everyone, I used SwiftData for v1 of an app and am now trying to make changes to the schema for v2. I created the v2 schema that adds a property to one of the models. I need to populate the new property so I made a custom migration using didMigrate. However that doesn't seem to matter what I do in the migration because creating the ModelContainer throws an error before didMigrate ever gets called. The error is: Unresolved error loading container Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134060 "A Core Data error occurred." UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=Instances of NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate are not reusable and should have a lifecycle tied to a given instance of NSPersistentStore.} Higher up in the Xcode output I see things like this (in order): Request 'D25A8CB8-7341-4FA8-B2F8-3DE2D35B5273' was cancelled because the store was removed from the coordinator. BUG IN CLIENT OF CLOUDKIT: Registering a handler for a CKScheduler activity identifier that has already been registered CloudKit setup failed because it couldn't register a handler for the export activity. There is another instance of this persistent store actively syncing with CloudKit in this process. How can I know from this output what I am doing incorrectly? Any idea what I should take a look at or try to do differently? This is a simple app with three models and nothing fancy. The only change in the schema is to add a property. The new property is declared as optional and has an inverse that is also declared as optional. Thanks for any insight!

Sync an interactive widget's Core Data store with the main app (and iCloud)
Hi everyone! I have an app on the App Store that uses Core Data as its data store. (It's called Count on Me: Tally Counter. Feel free to check it out.) One of the app's core feature is an interactive widget with a simple button. When the button is tapped, it's supposed to update the entity in the store. My requirement is that the changes are then reflected with minimal latency in the main app and – ideally – also on other devices of the same iCloud user. And vice-versa: When an entity is updated in the app (or on another device where the same iCloud user is logged in), the widget that shows this entity should also refresh to reflect the changes. I have read multiple articles, downloaded sample projects, searched Stackoverflow and the Apple developer forums, and tried to squeeze a solution out of AI, but couldn't figure out how to make this work reliably. So I tried to reduce the core problem to a minimal example project. It has two issues that I cannot resolve: When I update an entity in the app, the widget is immediately updated as intended (due to a call to WidgetCenter's reloadAllTimelines method). However, when I update the same entity from the interactive widget using the same app intent, the changes are not reflected in the main app. For the widget and the app to use the same local data store, I need to enable App Groups in both targets and set a custom location for the store within the shared app group. So I specify a custom URL for the NSPersistentStoreDescription when setting up the Core Data stack. The moment I do this, iCloud sync breaks. Issue no. 1 is far more important to me as I haven't officially enabled iCloud sync yet in my real app that's already on the App Store. But it would be wonderful to resolve issue no. 2 as well. Surely, there must be a way to synchronize changes to the source of truth triggered by interactive widget with other devices of the same iCloud user. Otherwise, the feature to talk to the main app and the feature to synchronize with iCloud would be mutually exclusive. Some other developers I talked to have suggested that the widget should only communicate proposed changes to the main app and once the main app is opened, it processes these changes and writes them to the NSPersistentCloudKitContainer which then synchronizes across devices. This is not an option for me as it would result in a stale state and potential data conflicts with different devices. For example, when a user has the same widget on their iPhone and their iPad, taps a button on the iPhone widget, that change would not be reflected on the iPad widget until the user decides to open the app on the iPhone. At the same time, the user could tap the button multiple times on their iPad widget, resulting in a conflicting state on both devices. Thus, this approach is not a viable solution. An answer to this question will be greatly appreciated. The whole code including the setup of the Core Data stack is included in the repository reference above. Thank you!

My newly released App Snapshot-Chess-Move, #1592848671, is not creating a public database of chess moves as I expect. What steps do I need to do inorder for my App to be using a public database. It appears as if each of my iOS devices, iPhone, iPad and Mac mini each have a private database of chess moves. When I change my data on the iPad, I expect the new data to appear (with slight delays) on the Mac.. I do not know what to do next. Please help me. This was working in Development mode but not in Production when I submitted my App for release. UPDATE: The cloud data is copied locally to a @Quary variable and updated by using .insert, .delete and .save commands. So, I deleted and re-downloaded my apps on each device, iPad, iPhone, and Mac and obtained the same cloud data. So how do users get the most recent copy of the cloud. Do they need to delete their App and start over? Is there a .update command that can do this updating for me? Also, I pushed the App out of the background and restarted the App to obtain the updated cloud data.

How to accept CloudKit shares with the new SwiftUI app lifecycle?

It used to live in AppDelegate pre-iOS13, and I tried going back to that, but the AppDelegate version never gets called. There doesn’t seem to be a SceneDelegateAdaptor akin to UIApplicationDelegateAdaptor available, which would provide a bridge to the old code. So, I’m lost. How do I accept CloudKit shares with SwiftUI app lifecycle? 🙈

NSPersistentCloudkitContainer Memory Leak -> Crash? (iOS 15 beta 4 & 5)
Background I have an established app in the App Store which has been using NSPersistentCloudkitContainer since iOS 13 without any issues. I've been running my app normally on an iOS device running the iOS 15 betas, mainly to see problems arise before my users see them. Ever since iOS 15 (beta 4) my app has failed to sync changes - no matter how small the change. An upload 'starts' but never completes. After a minute or so the app quits to the Home Screen and no useful information can be gleaned from crash reports. Until now I've had no idea what's going on. Possible Bug in the API? I've managed to replicate this behaviour on the simulator and on another device when building my app with Xcode 13 (beta 5) on iOS 15 (beta 5). It appears that NSPersistentCloudkitContainer has a memory leak and keeps ramping up the RAM consumption (and CPU at 100%) until the operating system kills the app. No code of mine is running. I'm not really an expert on these things and I tried to use Instruments to see if that would show me anything. It appears to be related to NSCloudkitMirroringDelegate getting 'stuck' somehow but I have no idea what to do with this information. My Core Data database is not tiny, but not massive by any means and NSPersistentCloudkitContainer has had no problems syncing to iCloud prior to iOS 15 (beta 4). If I restore my App Data (from an external backup file - 700MB with lots of many-many, many-one relationships, ckAssets, etc.) the data all gets added to Core Data without an issue at all. The console log (see below) then shows that a sync is created, scheduled & then started... but no data is uploaded. At this point the memory consumption starts and all I see is 'backgroundTask' warnings appear (only related to CloudKit) with no code of mine running. CloudKit: how to handle CKError partialFailure when using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer?
I'm using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer with Core Data and I receive errors because my iCloud space is full. CoreData CloudKit Sync not working between iOs and MacOS
Hi All, I work on a cross platform app, iOS/macOS. All devises on iOS could synchronize data from Coredata : I create a client, I see him an all iOS devices. But when I test on macOs (with TestFlight) the Mac app could not get any information from iOs devices. On Mac, cloud drive is working because I could download and upload documents and share it between all devices, so the account is working but with my App on MacOS, there is no synchronisation. idea????

Avoid Duplicate Records with CloudKit & CoreData
When my app starts it loads data (of vehicle models, manufacturers, ...) from JSON files into CoreData.  This content is static. Some CoreData entities have fields that can be set by the user, for example an isFavorite boolean field. How do I tell CloudKit that my CoreData objects are 'static' and must not be duplicated on other devices (that will also load it from JSON files). In other words, how can I make sure that the CloudKit knows that the record created from JSON for vehicle model XYZ on one device is the same record that was created from JSON on any other device? I'm using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer.

"Failed to set up CloudKit integration" in TestFlight build
I'm building a macOS + iOS SwiftUI app using Xcode 14.1b3 on a Mac running macOS 13.b11. The app uses Core Data + CloudKit. With development builds, CloudKit integration works on the Mac app and the iOS app. Existing records are fetched from iCloud, and new records are uploaded to iCloud. Everybody's happy. With TestFlight builds, the iOS app has no problems. But CloudKit integration isn't working in the Mac app at all. No existing records are fetched, no new records are uploaded. In the Console, I see this message: error: CoreData+CloudKit: Failed to set up CloudKit integration for store: <NSSQLCore: 0x1324079e0> (URL: <local file url>) Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=4099 "The connection to service named com.apple.cloudd was invalidated: failed at lookup with error 159 - Sandbox restriction." Is a 3-way merge possible when resolving CloudKit conflicts?
I'm trying to handle the serverRecordChanged return code you get in CKError when you have a conflict and your using the savePolicy of ifServerRecordUnchanged. According to the CKError.Code.serverRecordChanged documentation, I should be receiving all three records that I need to do a 3-way merge. The problem is that the ancestorRecord (CKRecordChangedErrorAncestorRecordKey can also be used to look it up in the userInfo) doesn't actually contain a record. It only contains the record metadata. Is there something I need to be doing to get the full ancestorRecord in the CKError? If not is it possible to query iCloud for the ancestorRecord? Given that iCloud has the change history (as I understand it), then it is theoretically possible. I just don't know how to do it if it is possible. Are 3-way merges even possible? The design of the serverRecordChanged looks like that is the intent, but I can't see how to do it with the data that CloudKit is providing.

Private database: failed to access iCloud data please signin again.
When I logged into my cloudkit console to inspect the database for some debugging work I couldn't access the private database. It keeps saying "failed to access iCloud data, please signi n again". No matter how many times I sign in again, whether with password or passwordless key it keeps saying the same thing. It says that message when I click on Public database, and private and shared databases are below it. I only noticed this a couple of days ago. It's done this in the past, but I eventually got back into the database but I don't know what changed to make it work.

SwiftData with shared and private containers
I was hoping for an update of SwiftData which adopted the use of shared and public CloudKit containers, in the same way it does for the private CloudKit container. So firstly, a big request to any Apple devs reading, for this to be a thing! Secondly, what would be a sensible way of adding a shared container in CloudKit to an existing app that is already using SwiftData? Would it be possible to use the new DataStore method to manage CloudKit syncing with a public or shared container?

Recently I've been working on a demo project called iLibrary. The main goal was to learn more about CloudKit and SwiftData. After a while I noticed that there were some hangs/freezes when running the app in debug mode. I first tried this with Xcode 15.4 and iOS 17.5. Here the hang only appears at the beginning, but only for a few seconds. But when I exit debug mode, there are no more hangs. With Xcode 16 beta 4 and iOS 18 it looks completely different. In this case, the hangs and freezes are always present, whether in debug mode or not. And it's not just at the beginning, it's throughout the app. I'm aware that this is still a beta, but I still find this weird. And when I profile this I see that the main thread gets quite overloaded. Interestingly, my app doesn't have that many operations going on. So I guess something with the sync of SwiftData or my CloudKitManger where I fetch some records from the public database is not running fine. Lastly, I wanted to delete the iCloud app data. So I went to Settings and tried to delete it, but it didn't work. Is this normal? Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Or has anyone encountered this problem as well? Strange behavior with 100k+ records in NSPersistentCloudKitContainer
I have been using the basic NSPersistentContainer with 100k+ records for a while now with no issues. The database size can fluctuate a bit but on average it takes up about 22mb on device. When I switch the container to NSPersistentCloudKitContainer, I see a massive increase in size to ~150mb initially. As the sync engine uploads records to iCloud it has ballooned to over 600mb on device. On top of that, the user's iCloud usage in settings reports that it takes up 1.7gb in the cloud. I understand new tables are added and history tracking is enabled but the size increase seems a bit drastic. I'm not sure how we got from 22mb to 1.7gb with the exact same data. A few other things that are important to note: I import all the 100k+ records at once when testing the different containers. At the time of the initial import there is only 1 relation (an import group record) that all the records are attached to. I save the background context only once after all the records and the import group have been made and added to the context. After the initial import, some of these records may have a few new relations added to them over time. I suppose this could be causing some of the size increase, but its only about 20,000 records that are updated. None of the records include files/ large binary data. Most of the attributes are encrypted. I'm syncing to the dev iCloud environment. When I do make a change to a single attribute in a record, CloudKit reports that every attribute has been modified (not sure if this is normal or not ) Also, When syncing to a new device, the sync can take hours - days. I'm guessing it's having to sync both the new records and the changes, but it exponentially gets slower as more records are downloaded. The console will show syncing activity, but new records are being added at a slower rate as more records are added. After about 50k records, it grinds to a halt and while the console still shows sync activity, only about 100 records are added every hour. All this to say i'm very confused where these issues are coming from. I'm sure its a combination of how i've setup my code and the vast record count, record history, etc. If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

SwiftData serious bug with relationships and CloudKit in iOS 18.0 (Xcode 16 Beta)
Hi guys. Can someone please confirm this bug so I report it? The issue is that SwiftData relationships don't update the views in some specific situations on devices running iOS 18 Beta. One clear example is with CloudKit. I created a small example for testing. The following code creates two @models, one to store bands and another to store their records. The following code works with no issues. I inserted all the information on my iPhone. The first three rows were inserted with the first view. But the last two rows were inserted after I extracted the rows to a separate view. Here you can see that the relationships are nil and therefore shown as "Undefined". The views are not updated to show the real value of the relationship. This example shows the issue with CloudKit, but this also happens locally in some situations. The system doesn't detect updates in relationships and therefore doesn't refresh the views. Please, let me know if you can reproduce the issue. I'm using Mac Sequoia 15.1, and two devices with iOS 18.0.

Swiftdata cloudkit synchronization issues
Hi, I did cloudkit synchronization using swiftdata. However, synchronization does not occur automatically, and synchronization occurs intermittently only when the device is closed and opened. For confirmation, after changing the data in Device 1 (saving), when the data is fetched from Device 2, there is no change. I've heard that there's still an issue with swiftdata sync and Apple is currently troubleshooting it, is the phenomenon I'm experiencing in the current version normal?

What is CloudKit error: AssetUploadTokenRetrieveRequest request size exceeds limit
Some of my customer get the following CloudKit error (I cannot reproduce is myself). Failed to modify some records (CKErrorDomain:2) userInfo: CKErrorDescription:Failed to modify some records CKPartialErrors:{ "<CKRecordID: ooo; recordName=ooo, zoneID=ooo:__defaultOwner__>" = "<CKError 0x600003809ce0: \"Limit Exceeded\" (27/2023); server message = \"AssetUploadTokenRetrieveRequest request size exceeds limit\"; op = ooo; uuid = ooo; container ID = \"ooo\">" This is a CKError.limitExeeded error. I create 200 or less records in a batch operation. So I am below the 400 limit. Searching the Internet for "AssetUploadTokenRetrieveRequest request size exceeds limit": 0 results Can anyone give me a hint?

SwiftData migration error: NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate are not reusable
Hello everyone, I used SwiftData for v1 of an app and am now trying to make changes to the schema for v2. I created the v2 schema that adds a property to one of the models. I need to populate the new property so I made a custom migration using didMigrate. However that doesn't seem to matter what I do in the migration because creating the ModelContainer throws an error before didMigrate ever gets called. The error is: Unresolved error loading container Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134060 "A Core Data error occurred." UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailureReason=Instances of NSCloudKitMirroringDelegate are not reusable and should have a lifecycle tied to a given instance of NSPersistentStore.} Higher up in the Xcode output I see things like this (in order): Request 'D25A8CB8-7341-4FA8-B2F8-3DE2D35B5273' was cancelled because the store was removed from the coordinator. BUG IN CLIENT OF CLOUDKIT: Registering a handler for a CKScheduler activity identifier that has already been registered CloudKit setup failed because it couldn't register a handler for the export activity. There is another instance of this persistent store actively syncing with CloudKit in this process. How can I know from this output what I am doing incorrectly? Any idea what I should take a look at or try to do differently? This is a simple app with three models and nothing fancy. The only change in the schema is to add a property. The new property is declared as optional and has an inverse that is also declared as optional. Thanks for any insight!

Sync an interactive widget's Core Data store with the main app (and iCloud)
Hi everyone! I have an app on the App Store that uses Core Data as its data store. (It's called Count on Me: Tally Counter. Feel free to check it out.) One of the app's core feature is an interactive widget with a simple button. When the button is tapped, it's supposed to update the entity in the store. My requirement is that the changes are then reflected with minimal latency in the main app and – ideally – also on other devices of the same iCloud user. And vice-versa: When an entity is updated in the app (or on another device where the same iCloud user is logged in), the widget that shows this entity should also refresh to reflect the changes. I have read multiple articles, downloaded sample projects, searched Stackoverflow and the Apple developer forums, and tried to squeeze a solution out of AI, but couldn't figure out how to make this work reliably. So I tried to reduce the core problem to a minimal example project. It has two issues that I cannot resolve: When I update an entity in the app, the widget is immediately updated as intended (due to a call to WidgetCenter's reloadAllTimelines method). However, when I update the same entity from the interactive widget using the same app intent, the changes are not reflected in the main app. For the widget and the app to use the same local data store, I need to enable App Groups in both targets and set a custom location for the store within the shared app group. So I specify a custom URL for the NSPersistentStoreDescription when setting up the Core Data stack. The moment I do this, iCloud sync breaks. Issue no. 1 is far more important to me as I haven't officially enabled iCloud sync yet in my real app that's already on the App Store. But it would be wonderful to resolve issue no. 2 as well. Surely, there must be a way to synchronize changes to the source of truth triggered by interactive widget with other devices of the same iCloud user. Otherwise, the feature to talk to the main app and the feature to synchronize with iCloud would be mutually exclusive. Some other developers I talked to have suggested that the widget should only communicate proposed changes to the main app and once the main app is opened, it processes these changes and writes them to the NSPersistentCloudKitContainer which then synchronizes across devices. This is not an option for me as it would result in a stale state and potential data conflicts with different devices. For example, when a user has the same widget on their iPhone and their iPad, taps a button on the iPhone widget, that change would not be reflected on the iPad widget until the user decides to open the app on the iPhone. At the same time, the user could tap the button multiple times on their iPad widget, resulting in a conflicting state on both devices. Thus, this approach is not a viable solution. An answer to this question will be greatly appreciated. The whole code including the setup of the Core Data stack is included in the repository reference above. Thank you!

"BAD_REQUEST" in iCloudKit Telemetry
I've recently added iCloud backup on my chat app. Conversations are backing up fine but some users are losing their chats and when I see the telemetry it show "BAD_REQUEST" error. I couldn't find any details or solution for it. Does anyone has any idea what it could be? My development scheme is already fully deployed to production.

CloudKit not storing or updating public data in real time.
My newly released App Snapshot-Chess-Move, #1592848671, is not creating a public database of chess moves as I expect. What steps do I need to do inorder for my App to be using a public database. It appears as if each of my iOS devices, iPhone, iPad and Mac mini each have a private database of chess moves. When I change my data on the iPad, I expect the new data to appear (with slight delays) on the Mac.. I do not know what to do next. Please help me. This was working in Development mode but not in Production when I submitted my App for release. UPDATE: The cloud data is copied locally to a @Quary variable and updated by using .insert, .delete and .save commands. So, I deleted and re-downloaded my apps on each device, iPad, iPhone, and Mac and obtained the same cloud data. So how do users get the most recent copy of the cloud. Do they need to delete their App and start over? Is there a .update command that can do this updating for me? Also, I pushed the App out of the background and restarted the App to obtain the updated cloud data.
