I have a problem that when a lot of apps running in the background sometimes when the app receive push notification (local or remote) sometimes the notification arives without sound.
tested on iOS 9 GM
also hapenns on Whatsapp and Viber
scenario: open and background many apps then receive push notification.
about 1/3 receive without sound in this scenario
I have the same problem on both iPhone 6s and iPad Air. I tried everything: reset the phone installing iOS 9.01, 9.02, 9.1 beta 5, spending a lot of time without any result.
I bought my phone 15 days ago and I'm considering to give back it. It's unacceptable.
I resolved. Try to change the side switch to lock rotation, than to mute. I resolved with this.
Same here. I noticed it on my Gmail app but I guess it must be other, as well! Maybe when it's just unlocked and not locked? Will have to pay more attention to that part, but either way it's annoying. Also, my regular iPhone Mail function doesn't really EVER "push" the email, and I do have it set to that. It seems to only work when I touch Mail to open it. Grrrr.

This wil not work, as iPhones do not even have the ability in iOS 9 to change the side switch option.
Also people really need to stop saying to do a full reset/restore/etc... as it has been repeated time and time again and it has been clearly explained the the problem persists.
i tested sound notifications on my iphone 6 after updating to ios 9.1 beta 4 and everything works just fine with me but i have no info about beta 5 and i don't want to take the risk
Has anyone found a way to reliably work around this issue? For example has anybody here tried building their app with Xcode 7 with the iOS 9 SDK? If so does the problem still happen to your app?
I updated to iOS 9.1 public beta 5 and so far my notifications are coming in... haven't had much time to test it though and since it was erratic to begin with, it will take more time to be sure.

i made restore, force restart, but nothing happend. the same issue still existing.

Apple don't monitor these forums from what I've seen.

iphone 6 - ios 9.0.2 and same problem. I had to change the iPhone (because a screen problem) but the problem Persists
Alright, in the last 5 days I think I've received every single push notification with sound in 9.1 public beta 5. So *hopefully* this will be fixed in 9.1 final. It's pretty unbelieveable that this bug was ever introduced, let alone how long it will have been until Apple finally fixes it. By the way, I did fill out a bug report a while back.
like everyone else here, I have the same issue. Mostly with text msg and Gmail app push, which is very annoying when you're expecting answers but can't hear the notifications.
It's been doing it since ios 9 and still continues in 9-0-2. hope it'll be fixed soon...

So iOS 9.1 came out today, has that fixed the issue for anyone here?
iOS 9.1, iPhone 5s, just missed 2 Viber notifications, phone was on a desk next to my keyboard and I received the notification for the 3rd message and the first 2 that came each one minute before - no notification at all...
If finally and after three updates this problem that should be part of the basic tests from developers should do, still remains , it is a little sad. I am glad that Apple releases new capabilities in each new operating system , including to ensure that their latest devices communicate fine each other, but the basic services in phones that are compatible with each new release, have secured their works fine, and these errors still be standing many months , it is unprofessional.
