I have a problem that when a lot of apps running in the background sometimes when the app receive push notification (local or remote) sometimes the notification arives without sound.
tested on iOS 9 GM
also hapenns on Whatsapp and Viber
scenario: open and background many apps then receive push notification.
about 1/3 receive without sound in this scenario
On my iPhone 6+ with iOS 9 the notification sounds are intermittent: sometimes there is a sound, and sometimes there is not. This is true for Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, and Viber. It is driving me crazy. I have updated the iOS with the two bug fixes from Apple and am very frustrated that this fix was not among those that they addressed. I expect more from Apple.
I have the same issue please please can Apple sort this as it is not acceptable to have this issue still after two small updates after the main ios9 update and apple are going to upset a lot of people witch will just give there phone back And move to a different phone !!! I am using a iPhone 6 Plus SORT IT APPLE IT CANNOT CARRY ON !!!!!!!!!
I am using Watch OS 2.0 & Iphone 6s Plus with IOS 9.0.2
Sometimes when i get a phone call, my apple watch speaker goes haywire.
When i use siri on my watch to respond to a text message Siri goes not show up with the beautiful sound recognition symbol. Instead it becomes the white voice bar meter and looks terrible.
Overall, Siri is very buggy and not very responsive.
IOS 9.0.2 update is the main culprit!
Fix the issue! It's not possible to check the phone every moment! Depend on the money that costs I demand this device to work perfect!i don't care about nothing else.! Fix the sound notifications! It's a phone' s standard function!
I am having the same problem with Messages. When a message comes in, no sound. If I reboot my phone, the alert tone will work for awhile, but then quits again. It seems that it quits working after I switch the phone to silent and back to ring. (Using the button on the side)
I have te same problem ni sound in whatsup,viber or gmail incoming mails.Sometimes they do work sometimes not! Very frustrating as I am using these apps for communication as I am in home rental businesse.Facebook messenger as well no sound just fot a silent one while typing this.This is a big problem as we can miss a very important message,mail and we can get a bad review on pages that reciew customer service.Please apple fix this ASAP.Not good enough.
No sound for viber, email (gmail), whatsapp, and have problems to connect to internet over chrome. Every time must manualy to turn on VPN.

Same here, need a fix of course. Try to reset network settings and reboot your device as temporary solution.
Unfortunately resetting the phone doesn't help. Since 9.0 (including 9.01 and 9.02) the only app that sends push notifications is facebook messenger.. which then tells me to turn on notifications when the app loads.
It's as if the phone doesn't recognize notifications have been turned on.
Another issue is no sound for txt messages or other notifications and none of the notifications appear on the lock screen.
i have the same in my iPhone 5s, since i upgrade to 9.0.0, i further accept the upgrade of 9.0.1, but wont solve this.
now am on 9.0.2 still the problem exist.
I decide to switch ON the "flash" alert that sumhow i get notified for new SMS, please solve

I had the same problem but in my case it was an easy fix. For some reason do not disturb was activated.
I am sure i did not activate it myself so i am somewhat puzzled how that happened.
The result is obviously that you do not get any sound notifications as long as the screen is turned off.
Maybe irrelevant in this discussion but it solved my problem
Solved:
1. Setting - General - Accessibility - VoiceOver - Disable Use Pitch Change
2. Setting - General - Accessibility - VoiceOver - Rotor - Check Volume
I have this problem with 9.0.2 (as well as 9.0.1 before) on my new-to-me iPhone 6. This problem has nothing to do with DnD and the mute switch. Doing any kind of hard reset or settings reset or even a full wipe and restore does not fix the problem, though after a reboot the notifications might work correctly for a short while. These directions above about VoiceOver settings do not work.
I had this issue and I found that if I turned off Bluetooth it worked for me. Once you see that it is working you can turn on your Bluetooth again.
