iOS 9 Beta battery life

It might be me, but iOS 9 Battery life so far has been painfully bad, down from 100% to 85% without using it much in 2 hours... has anyone experienced anything similar?'

I might try a complete restore since i only updated from iOS 8 to iOS 9 Beta, just curious to see if anyone else is in the same boat.....after all ...battery life is one of the focus for iOS9.

Andrea

for me it was the restore from backup that was keeping running over days. Stoping the restore bettered the battery issue here.

👿The iPhone 6 more lost 40% over the whole battery was not told it gains more with ios 9 even for a beta is unacceptable when quon said the ios + 9 is a longer lasts battery. I am very desu my iphone 6 does even more hard a full day

No, now a lot of days are gone and it is not better, Battery is running out like a cup of water. It could not be index.

I have the same issue the phone gets really hot. Battery doesn't last more than 3 hours standby and less than 90 minutes if I slightly use it. Crashes more than it work. Super slow. I have restored it as a new phone several times and still same issues exist as when I restore it from a backup. Hope Apple releases another beta to adress these issues soon.

I installed it on my iPhone 6 Plus and had severe battery drain issues. As well as that Siri kept appearing every time I touched the home button, so even though the phone was on silent the Siri noise was as loud as ever. But I expected that so back to 8.4 for now.

My iPad Air on the other hand is a different story. No problems with battery life or Siri. Safari can be a little laggy, but overall pretty good for Beta 1.

For me, the majority of the battery drain was apparently coming from iCloud Drive. I turned it off and suddenly my battery is just bad instead of unusably bad.

Checking the console log shows that I no longer have continuous network activity. With iCloud Drive turned on, the log just scrolled continously. Now it looks more normal with a couple of lines every few seconds.

Luckily I don't have much use for iCloud Drive on my iPhone. WIth my iPad turning it off would be pretty crippling.

I checked my device logs, saw lots of backupd crashes -- a few each hour. Anyone else?

Now, this is weird. I haven't been able to go 1/2 a day with either my iPhone 6 on iOS 9 or my Apple Watch on watchOS 2 since I "upgraded". Today, out of the clear blue, I've gone over 1/2 a day on both and have exactly 78% battery remaining on both devices. Could it be that Apple doesn't collect data from our beta devices on Sunday? I know it sounds crazy, but that's all that I can think of?

I think all developers understand that battery life in the first beta will never be great. CPU is working overtime, cranked up almost to max. Some people are commenting on their phones over heating which is explained by the CPU. if you are getting five or more hours out of your iPhone then your doing great. None developers understand that until the iOS 9 GM is released (and to be fair sometimes after) You cant expect any reliability from battery life, transitions wifi, bluetooth or features.

My iPhone 6 plus also gets very hot as well as the longevitiy of the battery is terrible now too!

I see lots of discussion of things people tried on the phone, but did anybody (else) plug it into Instruments?

Mine has been hit and miss. Sometimes it's burning through the battery and other times it seems normal.

I noticed that my iPhone 6 was getting extremely hot after using it to browse a few articles during lunch. I hooked it up to Instruments and found that "locationd" was taking up 40%-75% of the CPU. I disabled Location Services and immediately the load went down.

I found that using multiple apps that require location is a real battery drainer (e.g. Maps and FindFriends both actve).

I suspect that my "Home Screen" usage may be related to adding FindFriends in the notification panel.

In the past, battery life tends to get better as the Beta releases progress.

As was suggested, I turned off iCloud Drive in settings and the battery life immediately returned to iOS 8 levels, if not better. iPad Air 2 14 hours standby 1.5 hours use, 88% battery remaining. very useful feature since the share sheet seems to rely on it even if you try using other file sources- not sure if that's intentional behavior because I've never disabled icloud Drive before. But it's worth it for now.

Thanks, just shut down iCloud drive. my usage was Mail Background Activity and Home & Lock Screen. Phone running hot and battery draining. I was using Low Power mode (in "Battery" in Settings) which ran a bit cooler and maybe preserved battery life but still was draining very quickly. However, my apps that use SpriteKit and SceneKit ran so much faster now that they use Metal (recompiled in XCode Beta) that I'm in awe! I still want my battery life back though. 👿 Seriously, Beta 1.

my battery is 25% what it was, or in other words depletes 4 xs fater than on ios8
