Finder in Big Sur

I have my finder open and maximized. Every single time that I'm clicking on it, a new tab opens. How can I prevent this from happening?

Os: Big Sur 11.0.1
Please fix.

i found a way that fixed it for me in big sur. not sure if it has been said yet but if not, try that out.

go to finder-preferences-general and at the bottom unselect "open folders in tabs instead of new windows"

had to do it twice but it worked for me.

good luck!

Try single click and hold on the dock folder, after a short delay you will see the contents in a list or whatever you choose. Release your click and you can then scroll with the mouse and select your file. It seems to have just changed HOW to dow it, meaning previously it was a right click to get this to happen. Although different, it now allows a quicker way to "Open in Finder" when simply right clicking.
