What is the correct way to modify a SceneStorage variable from an AppIntent to one scene only for iPad SplitView mode
Apple's sample code 'Trails' supports multiple scenes, however everything is using shared state across the scenes. Put the app in Split View mode and have two windows of the app running and navigate, you can see both mirror each other. Works as designed, it is using a shared 'navigation model' across all scenes. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/appintents/acceleratingappinteractionswithappintents I would like to know if there is a supported or recommended way to modify individual scene storage from within the perform body of an AppIntent. The objective is to have App Shortcuts that launch different tabs in a TabView or different selections in a List. In short, I want to deep link to features, but account for more than one scene being open on iPad and only have programatic navigation happen on the scene that is 'foremost' or the 'activated' one in Split View. I have it working with either a @Dependency or posting a Notification with my main ContentView listening to the other end, but it changes all scenes.

Siri AI’s onscreen awareness can’t understand an AppEntity without a schema?
Use Case I’m currently developing , a hiking and cycling app. I’d like to use Siri AI in iOS/watchOS 27 to create an experience like this: While users are recording an activity in app, they can raise their wrist or invoke Siri on iPhone and simply ask: “How much farther to the destination?” “How far have I already gone?” “How much elevation gain is left?” “How far is it to the next waypoint?” … Siri can then answer based on the app’s current workout context. Since there are many metrics like these, and it’s not convenient to look at the screen while cycling or trail running, this could be a really valuable use case if Siri AI can support it. I defined an AppEntity like this, and then associated it with the UI. But I found that Siri AI doesn’t seem to understand this AppEntity. It can only understand the content it can see on the screen, even though I can see that it did execute ToobooWorkoutSessionQuery, the EntityQuery. This screen has multiple tabs. Siri understood the on-screen values such as “Distance: 0.21 mi” and “Remaining Distance: 0.14 mi”, but it didn’t know the data from the other tabs on the same page, such as heart rate, average speed, and so on. So it seems that Siri is directly reading the screen, instead of retrieving the information from the AppEntity I actually provided. Is this because the AppEntity doesn’t use one of the schemas defined by AppSchemaEntity, so Siri AI can’t understand it? App Intents without a schema seem to have a similar issue. If the AppIntent I define is not within one of those schemas, Siri won’t directly execute it either. My current solution: I defined many Intents and Shortcuts. Siri AI’s ability to parse shortcuts seems to be much smarter in the new system, and it can match them quite easily. Also, shortcuts don’t require the app to be in the foreground. However, when talking to Siri, the shortcut phrase has to include the app name, which feels a bit unnatural. For example: “How far have I traveled in xxx app?”

Suggestion for the SiriAI in European Union
As a user from Bulgaria, I would also like to suggest a possible approach that could benefit both Apple and users in the European Union. Even if the new AI-powered Siri becomes available in the EU in the future, it is unlikely to support every European language immediately. For example, Siri AI does not currently support Bulgarian, which means many users like me would still be unable to use its full capabilities in our native language. Because of this, I believe users should have the option to choose their preferred AI assistant as the system assistant—for example Siri, ChatGPT, Gemini, or another approved assistant. From my perspective, this could also align well with the goals of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). If Siri in the EU is required to have the same level of system access and permissions as third-party assistants, then all assistants would operate under the same rules, with the same privacy protections and the same limitations regarding access to system resources. This would create a level playing field while still allowing users to decide which assistant best meets their needs. For users like me, this would be especially valuable because I could choose an assistant that supports Bulgarian, while still enjoying the privacy and security standards that Apple is known for. I understand that this is only one possible approach, and there may be technical or regulatory challenges that I am not aware of. Nevertheless, I believe giving users more choice could be beneficial for both Apple and its customers across the European Union. I would be interested in hearing what other developers and Apple engineers think about this idea.

Dependency between AssistantSchema.CameraEnum
Hi, I have some questions about the new AssistantSchema.CameraEnum.captureMode and AssistantSchema.CameraEnum.captureDevice introduced with iOS 18 beta 4. Here's the context. I create a intent: @AssistantIntent(schema: .camera.startCapture) struct StartCaptureIntent { var captureMode: CaptureMode var timerDuration: CaptureDuration? var device: CaptureDevice? func perform() async throws -> some IntentResult { .result() } } And these app enums: @AssistantEnum(schema: .camera.captureDevice) enum CaptureDevice: String { case front case back case ultrawide } @AssistantEnum(schema: .camera.captureMode) enum CaptureMode: String { case modeA case modeB } Some CaptureDevice cases are not available in some CaptureMode. e.g: CaptureMode.modeA only supports CaptureDevice.back and CaptureDevice.front. In a classic AppIntent, I would create an AppEntity to represent CaptureDevice and use @IntentParameterDependency<CapturePhotoIntent>( \.$captureMode) to create a dependency between the captureMode and the captureDevice parameters. How can we create this dependency between two @AssistantEnum? I'm not sure this is possible as @AssistantEnum creates AppEnum.

Seeking Feedback on an Idea: Real-Time Siri Running Coach for iOS
Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well. I’m not a developer, but I have an idea for an iOS app that I’d love to get your thoughts on. I wanted to share it here to gather feedback from this knowledgeable community and to learn from your expertise. Idea Overview: Real-Time AI Running Coach for iOS The concept is an iOS application that provides personalized, real-time running coaching by leveraging on-device data sources and Apple’s latest technologies. The app aims to offer an adaptive and motivating running experience while ensuring user privacy through on-device processing. Key Features: • Personalized Coaching: • Utilize real-time biometric data and personal insights to deliver AI-driven coaching tailored to the user’s mental and physical state. • Analyze health metrics, activity data, mood check-ins, and more to provide context-based motivational feedback. • Privacy First: • All data processing occurs on-device using Apple’s frameworks like Core ML, ensuring no personal data leaves the device. • Adaptive Motivation: • Implement Natural Language Processing to analyze user inputs like journal entries or mood check-ins. • Generate personalized coaching cues based on historical performance and mood trends. • Performance Enhancement: • Offer dynamic adjustments to pace, route, and strategy in real time to help improve running performance. • Seamless integration with Apple Watch for real-time data collection and haptic feedback. Technologies and Frameworks Involved: • HealthKit: Access health metrics such as heart rate, distance run, VO₂ max, sleep patterns, etc. • Core ML: On-device machine learning for real-time data analysis without latency. • Natural Language Processing: Analyze personal inputs for better coaching personalization. • Core Motion & Core Location: Track motion data and location services for runs. • AVFoundation & Speech: Provide real-time voice feedback and coaching cues. • SiriKit Integration: Allow users to initiate workouts and receive updates via Siri. Target Audience: • Runners of all levels seeking personalized coaching that adapts to their mental and physical states. • Users who prioritize privacy and want AI-driven insights without their data leaving the device. • Tech-savvy fitness enthusiasts who use iOS devices and Apple wearables. Questions for the Community: 1. Feasibility: Is this idea technically achievable using current iOS frameworks and technologies? 2. Data Access: Are there limitations in accessing and processing the necessary data on-device, especially regarding privacy and permissions? 3. Potential Challenges: What hurdles might developers face in creating such an app, and how could they be addressed? 4. Advice: As someone without a technical background, what steps would you recommend I take to move this idea forward? I truly appreciate any feedback or insights you can provide. I’m excited about the potential of this idea but also aware there may be complexities I’m not considering. Thank you for taking the time to read this! Best regards, Paul

No Siri AI in visionOS 27 with a non-US Apple ID
With visionOS 27, if you use a non US Apple ID, if the language is set to English on the country to USA, you don’t get Siri AI even if Siri AI is supposed to be available on visionOS 27 in all countries if the system is in English. iOS and iPadOS are the only systems where Siri AI is not available in Europe. As macOS, visionOS is supposed to have Siri AI enabled worldwide if the system is configured in English. The problem is confirmed with many French Vision Pro users with a French Apple ID. Using AssistantEntity with existing AppEntities for iOS17
Hi, I have an existing app with AppEntities defined, that works on iOS16 and iOS17. The AppEntities also have EntityPropertyQuery defined, so they work as 'find intents'. I want to use the new @AssistantEntity on iOS18, while supporting the previous versions. What's the best way to do this? For e.g. I have a 'person' AppEntity: @available(iOS 16.0, macOS 13.0, watchOS 9.0, tvOS 16.0, *) struct CJLogAppEntity: AppEntity { static var defaultQuery = CJLogAppEntityQuery() .... } struct CJLogAppEntityQuery: EntityPropertyQuery { ... } How do I adopt this with @AssistantEntity(schema: .journal.entry) for iOS18, while maintaining compatibility with iOS16 and 17?

Accessibility & Inclusion
When the system language and Siri language are not the same, Apple AI may not be usable. For example, if the system is in English and Siri is in Chinese, it may cause Apple AI to not work. May I ask if there are other reasons why the app still cannot be used internally even after enabling Apple AI?
