Capabilities overview

A capability allows your app to access an app service provided by Apple, such as CloudKit, Game Center, or In-App Purchase. To use certain app services, you need to provision your app by adding a capability to Xcode’s project editor. Xcode edits the needed entitlements and Information Property List files, including adding relevant frameworks and configuring your signing assets.

You can also manually configure capabilities for your apps and websites within the identifiers section of Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles. You’ll need to sign your apps and generate provisioning profiles manually.
