Register an App ID for App Clips

An app identifier for the App Clip uses the full app’s app identifier as its prefix, followed by a string. For example, if your full app’s app identifier is $(AppIdentifierPrefix).com.example.MyApp, the App Clip’s app identifier would be $(AppIdentifierPrefix)com.example.MyApp.Clip.

Required role: Account Holder or Admin.

  1. In Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, click Identifiers in the sidebar, then click the add button (+) on the top left.

  2. Select App IDs from the list of options and click continue.

  3. Select App Clip from the identifier type options.

  4. Select the parent iOS App ID from the dropdown list.

  5. Enter Product Name for your App Clip. This will be appended to the parent iOS App ID to create the App Clip app identifier.

Note: Xcode defaults to Clip for the Product Name.

  6. Confirm the settings are correct and click Continue.

  7. Enter a name or description for the App ID in the Description field.

  8. Select the corresponding checkboxes to enable the app capabilities you want to use.

The capabilities available to your type of app and program membership appear under Capabilities. Select capabilities like App Groups and Push Notifications require further configuration after registering your identifier.

  9. Click Continue, review the registration information, and click Register.
