Register a single device

You need a registered device to create a development or ad hoc provisioning profile. To register a device using your developer account, you need to have the device name and device ID.

Notes:

If you use automatic signing, Xcode registers connected devices for you. Xcode Server can also be configured to register connected devices.

When registering an Apple silicon Mac for development, always provide the provisioning UDID.

Required role: Account Holder or Admin.

In Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, click Devices in the sidebar, then click the add button (+) on the top left.
Select the platform, enter a device name, and the Unique Device Identifier (UDID).
Click Continue.
Review the registration information, then click Register.
