Hi, Anyone else not a big fan of the new Spotlight UI in macOS Big Sur Beta? I found the previous UI a lot more resourceful and information-rich. I know it is still accessible but it's an unnecessary additional click (or option-enter to jump right to it). Certainly posting this under Feedback Assistant as well but was curious what people thought and if this new UI is better at anything than the previous one.

Does anyone have a suggestion for adding a text field to a window's toolbar that'll resize with the window? Before you say use an NSSearchField, I don't want the search and cancel buttons displayed and AFAIK, you can't hide those buttons in older versions of macOS which I still have to support. Also, I want the toolbar item to resize with the window. I've tried putting using an NSTextField as a custom view for an NSToolbarItem but for some reason, the text field appears a few pixels shorter and all text within it get cropped vertically. I filed a bug report during the Big Sur beta but got no response.

Hi, I'm debugging my app on an Apple Developer Transition Kit running Big Sur Beta 8 I have a NSToolbarItem.Identifier.space in my Toolbar, and when I hover over it, it changes color......this is news to me. Previously on Catalina, you would get zero interaction with this. Is there anyway to stop it having a rollover state? Thanks Chris

After restart, an error screen appears stating there was an error and to press any key to restart or wait. I let it continue a reboot loop about 5 time, then attempted restrore. I’ve tried all restore options, and none of them are allowing me to proceed, except Command R to reinstall Big Sur. But the same error occurs for Big Sur.

Hi, I've got Big Sur beta installed but have come across a major issue, as in when I attach either an EX. HD or even an USB as soon as I double click on the icon to open the laptop crashes, I have even tried both USB ports and several cables and EX.HD's, I get the same problem which doesn't really help as I now can't attach my eX.HD with my Time Machine Back-up. So the question is, I saved the Installer for Big Sur, I'm thinking of re-installing it, just to see if this fixes the problem , any comments here as to whether or not this is a good idea ? Dreamweaver on Big Sur seems to run and upload CSS to my sites fine, but it crashes immediately when I try to add a new site. Menu Site > New Site or choosing Edit Sites and clicking New crashes to Desktop every time. Any workarounds?

After Big Sur crashed on startup Folder with ? Try to recover OS with command+r Find wifi network and after 10 min Mac starts up to error -1008F I'm stuck to get my Macbook Pro to work again. Please Help!!!

I have a brand new iMac running Big Sur 11.0.1 and a Xerox Workcentre 6027 printer. When I try to print, all I get are blank pages. Everything looks correct in the print preview, but the printer sends out blanks. Toner and everything is fine. Any advice?

After I had issues to download the Big Sur, later I managed to install but the unthinkable happened. My Mac became very slow to load just like one said (Windows Style). After login, it takes too long to reach the desktop, then you have to wait for the wallpaper to appear and after it is visible the upper taskbar will start displaying the icons one by one. Furthermore, to open any app such as the browser or Word, it takes ages. Hi, I am trying to update my AppKit app for Big Sur, and I'm struggling to figure out how to make the toolbar of my app's window to have the same translucency and background as I see in other apps, like Safari and the Apple Developer app. In my main storyboard, I have created a SplitView-with-Sidebar scene, made the window 'Full Size Content View' and added some toolbar items. If I leave it at that, then the toolbar works as expected. However, if I set the window's titleVisibility to 'NSWindowTitleHidden' (because it looks better), then the translucent effect goes away, and the toolbar has a stark white background. Is there any way to keep the title hidden but also keep the same translucency effect / background for the toolbar? Again, the Safari and Apple Developer apps are good examples of this. Thanks.

Anyone able to use Dropbox in macOS Big Sur? It won't launch on startup for me. And when I try to open the app from the icon it does nothing. I just updated my MacBook Pro to Big Sur and my external SSD ejects itself not long after loading onto the desktop. I'm getting a message that says, 'Eject Extreme SSD before disconnecting or turning it toff' and the SSD ejects. Can't do anything with it. I read that Catalina had the same bug which was fixed but wasn't fixed for Big Sur. Any help would be appreciated. I have all my client work on the ExSSD.

I've updated to Big Sur from Catalina and I'm having trouble when connecting to WiFi networks. At first no network appeared and now even though it has connected silently to my usual network, it is showing as no connected, but internet actually works. Anyone having this kind of problems so far? I haven't seen anything related on the forums nor the release notes.
