Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. Domain verification
Hello! We are using "Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API" https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepaywebmerchantregistrationapi Recently we successfully updated the Payment/identity certificates at our main merchant ID And we have a few questions: Do we need make the Domain verification for all of our sub-merchants again after the Certificates update? How we can check the expiration of domain verification of merchants that we integrate trough API endpoint (https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant), and do verified domains via API have an expiration date??? How we can understand does the our universal domain verification file (apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association) have expiration too? Thanks in advance!

Payment sheet will not show in second payment
I developed a web app using .net c#. The app runs a workflow which included Apple payment. App can work on any browser of any device (even non-IOS). When the app is browsed using PC windows Chrome browser, the payment sheet will show with QR code to scan using iPhone. If I cancelled the pop-up by clicking on X without scanning the code, and then returned to idle screen and performed another payment, I will reach paymentRequest.Show() but nothing will show and no errors are logged in console. Note that: I use Payment Request API The issue appear on the second payment. The issue will be solved once I refresh the page. My app supports both single and separate pages mode and issue appear on both. I used to see an error "Uncaught NotSupportedError: Failed to execute 'define' on 'CustomElementRegistry': the name apple spinner has already been used with this registry. So I thought the issue might be in loading the apple SDK script multiple times, and solved the issue to be loaded only once. The error disappeared but the issue persist without errors.

How to determine if my app's credit card has been added to apply pay of my device
Im trying to implement add to Apple Pay feature in my app. I have an issuer bank's credit card as an existing feature. Now question is, say its added successfully already, I relaunch my app, how to tell if already added to Apple Pay? I have made some reads, and asked AIs, but I can't seem to get a clear answer. Passkit's primaryAccountIdentifier - if use this, how will our backend store this? I mean, I don't think its ideal approach for mobile app to be responsible for calling backend api. deviceAccountNumberSuffix - what if my app have other cards that can be added to Apple Pay and has same suffix. Then seems broken flow.

Clarification on Apple Pay Domain Verification File Behavior
I'm implementing Apple Pay in my Flutter web app and I'm following the guidelines for domain verification using the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association file. When I access the file at https://mydomain.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association through my web app, the browser silently downloads the file instead of displaying its content on the webpage. My question is: Is this the expected behavior for the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association file? Should the browser download the file silently, or is there another step required, such as displaying the content on the webpage for verification purposes? I've consulted some resources and they indicate that the file download is the correct behavior. However, I'd appreciate confirmation from the community to ensure I'm implementing the verification process correctly. Summary is how do we know if apple has verified it?

Apple Pay Merchant Token on Web
Hello. I have a few questions about the implementation of Apple Pay payments on websites. Could you help me From the documentation: Apple Pay issues an Apple Pay Merchant Token if the user’s payment network supports merchant-specific payment tokens. Otherwise, Apple Pay issues a device token for the payment request. How can we determine whether a token is a merchant token or a device token? Is it possible to determine this by any of the token fields? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/passkit/payment-token-format-reference Is it possible to understand this in other ways? Can I make recurring payments with the device token if it was issued instead of the merchant token? Is it necessary to include the tokenNotificationURL when generating a merchant token, or can we generate one without specifying it? What does the applicationExpirationDate field in the merchant token represent? Is this the date when the device token or merchant token expires and payments cannot be made with it?

Device selection on Apple Pay In-App provisioning is incorrect
I am encountering an issue with the in-app provisioning flow using PKAddPaymentPassViewController. Specifically, when presenting the controller to allow users to add a pass to Apple Wallet, the device selection screen is showing all the devices, even after setting the primaryAccountIdentifier on the PKAddPaymentPassRequestConfiguration. Here's the context: I'm using PKAddPaymentPassViewController for in-app provisioning. I provide a valid primaryAccountIdentifier in the configuration. But after adding the pass, if i print back the primaryAccountIdentifier it displays some other value different than the identifier i had set(Example masked identifier: FAPLMC1GB000000066aa4xxxxxxxxxxxa744f16axxxxxxxx). The provisioning flow works, but the device list shown to the user includes all the devices (e.g., Apple Watches and iPhone even though it is already added to Apple Watch or iPhone).

System canceled add payment pass - Apple Wallet
Hello All - I'm attempting to enable my companies app to add credit card to Apple Wallet. Part of our app enables customers to generate new virtual cards on demand and I'm attempting to enable the ability to add these cards to the Apple Wallet. Everything seems to be working all the way to the final stage of the process where I get a PKPassKitErrorDomain systemCancelled and I can't seem to find any clues as to why the system is canceling. For context - I have the com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning entitlement. I have both the Wallet and In-App Provisioning capabilities enabled in the App. I have defined a PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate class that implements both the generateRequest and didFinishAdding methods. I'm leveraging PKAddPaymentPassViewController in SwiftUI by using a UIViewControllerRepresentable implementing class that returns the view controller properly when makeUIViewController is called. I build a PKAddPaymentPassRequest object and ensure that it is properly filled with encryptedPassData, activationData, and ephemeralPublicKey. As a user I'm able to go to the virtual card view, open the instance of PKAddPaymentPassViewController, select the destination for the card, see the Add Card information. I get to the point where the view tells me it's contacting the card issuer and then I get an error message "Could Not Add Card - Try again later or contact your card issuer for more information" with a "Set Up Later" button. I then get the system canceled error. I should mention that I'm able to add these virtual cards manually via the Apple Wallet. The process works similarly but requires me to provided an OTP to conclude the process. This flow works and I have active cards in my wallet. I'm having a very hard time figuring out how to try and debug this issue further. The only error that the system returns is the system canceled notice. Any insight into where I might be missing something or how to debug the issue further would be greatly appreciated. Any thought on how I could debug this further would also be greatly appreciated. In-app provisioning, UnsupportedVersionError when submitting PKAddPaymentPassRequest with test data from TSP.
Hello, I am setting up a feature for my company's banking app that allows users to add their payment/debit card they have with us to the Apple Wallet on their device. We have the in-app provisioning entitlement setup and configured in the app and configured with our banking partner/TSP. We are able to manually provision production environment cards via the Wallet app. I am using test card data from my TSP. I send them the two certificates, nonce, and nonce signature data and am given activationData, encryptedPassData, and an ephmeralPublicKey that we then set on an instance of PKAddPaymentPassRequest. We call the handler on the delegate method that is called with that request object and get an error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (PKPassKitErrorDomain error 2.) Looking at the PassKit library shows this is PKUnsupportedVersionError - Unsupported pass version. Our TSP hasn't been super helpful in troubleshooting this issue and just said we should contact Apple as it is an Apple error. I am trying to figure out if the issue is with how we are implementing the feature or with the test data itself given to us.

Unable to Complete In-App Provisioning – Error 40456 on enable Endpoint
Hello, I am developing an Apple Pay and In-App Provisioning integration for the bank where I work. All entitlements are properly configured, and we are integrated correctly with our Payment Network Operator (PNO). We are using PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate to handle the provisioning process. The flow progresses as expected up to the Terms and Conditions screen. However, after accepting the terms, the process fails with the message: "Could not add card." Our internal systems have not logged any request failure from Apple at this step, which makes it difficult to pinpoint whether the issue is in the PNO integration, entitlement configuration, or something else. We are currently testing in a production environment on a physical device (not using sandbox), and provisioning flows are initiated through our iOS app using PKAddPaymentPassRequest. Could you please help us interpret error code 40456 and identify what steps we should take to resolve this issue? If needed, we can also provide the full device log and additional details. Apple pay closes silently
During our Apple Pay integration testing, we encountered an issue that we're unsure how to resolve. Below are the steps we followed: Created an Apple Pay sandbox test account for Raul and added a test card, following the documentation here: https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/sandbox-testing/ Opened the Golfmanager platform and initiated a booking. For payment, selected Apple Pay as the method. Raul clicked the Apple Pay button on the Golfmanager UI. He scanned the QR code using his iPhone, logged in with the test account. Apple Pay began validating our merchant identity and retrieved the wallet token to proceed with payment. The Apple Pay payment sheet appeared on Raul's iPhone, showing the card details and the amount requested by Golfmanager. Suddenly, the Apple Pay sheet closed unexpectedly, and we have no insight into what went wrong or what might be missing on our end. Obtaining documentation for In-App Provisioning after receiving entitlement
We are an issuer attempting to implement In-App Provisioning of Payment Cards leveraging Mastercard MDES and have successfully obtained our entitlement from Apple, but have not received the documentation titled "Getting Started with Apple Pay In-App Provisioning, Verification & Security". The latest copy I have found has been via Scribd for a version 3.0 from June 2020. I've tried contacting Apple Support and the In-App Provisioning Entitlements group but have had no luck. Thank you!

The possibility of certificates renewal on "master account" without creating new merchant identity certificate and key stores.
Hello! We use Apple's "master account" scheme to register new clients trough API due to the fact that the number of merchant IDs in a developer account cannot exceed 100 records. It's been almost a year since we successfully used the master account ( ex. "merchant.com.xxx") and register clients via Postman. At the moment, the certificates for the master merchant ID start to expire on July 11 which will affect all customers which is under Master ID. We know that when updating certificates at the identifier level(our master id), new universal identity certificate files that we use to send to the merchants (merchant_id.pem, privkey.key) will be generated for authentication on the merchant side, as well as a new keystore. Since many of our clients are integrated with current files and keystores and have live traffic, we would like to know—is it possible to update certificates on the master account without changing the keystores and certificate identities? The impossibility of this will entail a large gap when switching to new certificates. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Integrating Apple Pay into an HTML inline frame (iframe) on your website
iOS 16 and earlier On iOS 16 and earlier, Apple Pay on the Web required Safari—and all interactions with the Apple Pay API to come from the parent/top level page. In order to facilitate the Apple Pay button in an HTML inline frame (iframe), there will need to be cross frame communication between the child and parent pages. Cross frame communication should be secure and robust, therefore the use of postMessage for this purpose is recommended. The expectation is for all communication with Apple Pay to occur from the parent page, so the iframe must relay all Apple Pay related events to the parent to handle. Some examples: Apple Pay availability: The parent calls applePayCapabilities, then sends the message of the response to the iframe, which then uses the value to toggle the visibility of the Apple Pay button. Apple Pay session: The iframe receives an onclick() event when the Apple Pay button is clicked and sends the message to the parent (providing details about the transaction). The parent create the payment request to obtain the session validation URL, and eventually receive session credentials and invokes completeMerchantValidation() to prevent the payment sheet. After the payment is authorized by the Payment Service Provider (PSP), the parent either: Redirects the parent page to a payment success page; or Sends a message to the iframe to complete the transaction flow itself. iOS 17 and later On IOS 17 and later, the iframe HTML element should include the allow="payment" attribute, which should facilitate the cross frame communications instead of needing a dedicated JavaScript library. This means all of the Apple Pay code/calls can reside in the iframe page—which is typically a hosted page from a Payment Service Provider (PSP), all the parent page—typically a merchant—has to do is add the attribute mentioned above to the iframe element. Important: Regardless of the iOS version, the PSP/merchant always needs to make sure the parent page domain is the one registered in the Developer portal, and used in the request to generate a merchant session via ApplePaySession. Hello! We are using "Apple Pay Web Merchant Registration API" https://developer.apple.com/documentation/applepaywebmerchantregistrationapi Recently we successfully updated the Payment/identity certificates at our main merchant ID And we have a few questions: Do we need make the Domain verification for all of our sub-merchants again after the Certificates update? How we can check the expiration of domain verification of merchants that we integrate trough API endpoint (https://apple-pay-gateway.apple.com/paymentservices/registerMerchant), and do verified domains via API have an expiration date??? How we can understand does the our universal domain verification file (apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association) have expiration too? Thanks in advance!

Payment sheet will not show in second payment
I developed a web app using .net c#. The app runs a workflow which included Apple payment. App can work on any browser of any device (even non-IOS). When the app is browsed using PC windows Chrome browser, the payment sheet will show with QR code to scan using iPhone. If I cancelled the pop-up by clicking on X without scanning the code, and then returned to idle screen and performed another payment, I will reach paymentRequest.Show() but nothing will show and no errors are logged in console. Note that: I use Payment Request API The issue appear on the second payment. The issue will be solved once I refresh the page. My app supports both single and separate pages mode and issue appear on both. I used to see an error "Uncaught NotSupportedError: Failed to execute 'define' on 'CustomElementRegistry': the name apple spinner has already been used with this registry. So I thought the issue might be in loading the apple SDK script multiple times, and solved the issue to be loaded only once. The error disappeared but the issue persist without errors.

How to determine if my app's credit card has been added to apply pay of my device
Im trying to implement add to Apple Pay feature in my app. I have an issuer bank's credit card as an existing feature. Now question is, say its added successfully already, I relaunch my app, how to tell if already added to Apple Pay? I have made some reads, and asked AIs, but I can't seem to get a clear answer. Passkit's primaryAccountIdentifier - if use this, how will our backend store this? I mean, I don't think its ideal approach for mobile app to be responsible for calling backend api. deviceAccountNumberSuffix - what if my app have other cards that can be added to Apple Pay and has same suffix. Then seems broken flow.

Clarification on Apple Pay Domain Verification File Behavior
I'm implementing Apple Pay in my Flutter web app and I'm following the guidelines for domain verification using the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association file. When I access the file at https://mydomain.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association through my web app, the browser silently downloads the file instead of displaying its content on the webpage. My question is: Is this the expected behavior for the apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association file? Should the browser download the file silently, or is there another step required, such as displaying the content on the webpage for verification purposes? I've consulted some resources and they indicate that the file download is the correct behavior. However, I'd appreciate confirmation from the community to ensure I'm implementing the verification process correctly. Summary is how do we know if apple has verified it?

Apple Pay Merchant Token on Web
Hello. I have a few questions about the implementation of Apple Pay payments on websites. Could you help me From the documentation: Apple Pay issues an Apple Pay Merchant Token if the user’s payment network supports merchant-specific payment tokens. Otherwise, Apple Pay issues a device token for the payment request. How can we determine whether a token is a merchant token or a device token? Is it possible to determine this by any of the token fields? https://developer.apple.com/documentation/passkit/payment-token-format-reference Is it possible to understand this in other ways? Can I make recurring payments with the device token if it was issued instead of the merchant token? Is it necessary to include the tokenNotificationURL when generating a merchant token, or can we generate one without specifying it? What does the applicationExpirationDate field in the merchant token represent? Is this the date when the device token or merchant token expires and payments cannot be made with it?

Device selection on Apple Pay In-App provisioning is incorrect
I am encountering an issue with the in-app provisioning flow using PKAddPaymentPassViewController. Specifically, when presenting the controller to allow users to add a pass to Apple Wallet, the device selection screen is showing all the devices, even after setting the primaryAccountIdentifier on the PKAddPaymentPassRequestConfiguration. Here's the context: I'm using PKAddPaymentPassViewController for in-app provisioning. I provide a valid primaryAccountIdentifier in the configuration. But after adding the pass, if i print back the primaryAccountIdentifier it displays some other value different than the identifier i had set(Example masked identifier: FAPLMC1GB000000066aa4xxxxxxxxxxxa744f16axxxxxxxx). The provisioning flow works, but the device list shown to the user includes all the devices (e.g., Apple Watches and iPhone even though it is already added to Apple Watch or iPhone).

System canceled add payment pass - Apple Wallet
Hello All - I'm attempting to enable my companies app to add credit card to Apple Wallet. Part of our app enables customers to generate new virtual cards on demand and I'm attempting to enable the ability to add these cards to the Apple Wallet. Everything seems to be working all the way to the final stage of the process where I get a PKPassKitErrorDomain systemCancelled and I can't seem to find any clues as to why the system is canceling. For context - I have the com.apple.developer.payment-pass-provisioning entitlement. I have both the Wallet and In-App Provisioning capabilities enabled in the App. I have defined a PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate class that implements both the generateRequest and didFinishAdding methods. I'm leveraging PKAddPaymentPassViewController in SwiftUI by using a UIViewControllerRepresentable implementing class that returns the view controller properly when makeUIViewController is called. I build a PKAddPaymentPassRequest object and ensure that it is properly filled with encryptedPassData, activationData, and ephemeralPublicKey. As a user I'm able to go to the virtual card view, open the instance of PKAddPaymentPassViewController, select the destination for the card, see the Add Card information. I get to the point where the view tells me it's contacting the card issuer and then I get an error message "Could Not Add Card - Try again later or contact your card issuer for more information" with a "Set Up Later" button. I then get the system canceled error. I should mention that I'm able to add these virtual cards manually via the Apple Wallet. The process works similarly but requires me to provided an OTP to conclude the process. This flow works and I have active cards in my wallet. I'm having a very hard time figuring out how to try and debug this issue further. The only error that the system returns is the system canceled notice. Any insight into where I might be missing something or how to debug the issue further would be greatly appreciated. Any thought on how I could debug this further would also be greatly appreciated. In-app provisioning, UnsupportedVersionError when submitting PKAddPaymentPassRequest with test data from TSP.
Hello, I am setting up a feature for my company's banking app that allows users to add their payment/debit card they have with us to the Apple Wallet on their device. We have the in-app provisioning entitlement setup and configured in the app and configured with our banking partner/TSP. We are able to manually provision production environment cards via the Wallet app. I am using test card data from my TSP. I send them the two certificates, nonce, and nonce signature data and am given activationData, encryptedPassData, and an ephmeralPublicKey that we then set on an instance of PKAddPaymentPassRequest. We call the handler on the delegate method that is called with that request object and get an error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (PKPassKitErrorDomain error 2.) Looking at the PassKit library shows this is PKUnsupportedVersionError - Unsupported pass version. Our TSP hasn't been super helpful in troubleshooting this issue and just said we should contact Apple as it is an Apple error. I am trying to figure out if the issue is with how we are implementing the feature or with the test data itself given to us.

Unable to Complete In-App Provisioning – Error 40456 on enable Endpoint
Hello, I am developing an Apple Pay and In-App Provisioning integration for the bank where I work. All entitlements are properly configured, and we are integrated correctly with our Payment Network Operator (PNO). We are using PKAddPaymentPassViewControllerDelegate to handle the provisioning process. The flow progresses as expected up to the Terms and Conditions screen. However, after accepting the terms, the process fails with the message: "Could not add card." Our internal systems have not logged any request failure from Apple at this step, which makes it difficult to pinpoint whether the issue is in the PNO integration, entitlement configuration, or something else. We are currently testing in a production environment on a physical device (not using sandbox), and provisioning flows are initiated through our iOS app using PKAddPaymentPassRequest. Could you please help us interpret error code 40456 and identify what steps we should take to resolve this issue? If needed, we can also provide the full device log and additional details. Apple pay closes silently
During our Apple Pay integration testing, we encountered an issue that we're unsure how to resolve. Below are the steps we followed: Created an Apple Pay sandbox test account for Raul and added a test card, following the documentation here: https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/sandbox-testing/ Opened the Golfmanager platform and initiated a booking. For payment, selected Apple Pay as the method. Raul clicked the Apple Pay button on the Golfmanager UI. He scanned the QR code using his iPhone, logged in with the test account. Apple Pay began validating our merchant identity and retrieved the wallet token to proceed with payment. The Apple Pay payment sheet appeared on Raul's iPhone, showing the card details and the amount requested by Golfmanager. Suddenly, the Apple Pay sheet closed unexpectedly, and we have no insight into what went wrong or what might be missing on our end. Obtaining documentation for In-App Provisioning after receiving entitlement
We are an issuer attempting to implement In-App Provisioning of Payment Cards leveraging Mastercard MDES and have successfully obtained our entitlement from Apple, but have not received the documentation titled "Getting Started with Apple Pay In-App Provisioning, Verification & Security". The latest copy I have found has been via Scribd for a version 3.0 from June 2020. I've tried contacting Apple Support and the In-App Provisioning Entitlements group but have had no luck. Thank you!

Apple pay QR code is not available
When I use my iPhone to scan the apple pay QR code in chrome, the url is https://applepaydemo.apple.com/apple-pay-js-api, I keep geting the "Service Unavailable" error. Wonder know if you guys meet this error as well? Btw, the QR code feature needs IOS 18.

The possibility of certificates renewal on "master account" without creating new merchant identity certificate and key stores.
Hello! We use Apple's "master account" scheme to register new clients trough API due to the fact that the number of merchant IDs in a developer account cannot exceed 100 records. It's been almost a year since we successfully used the master account ( ex. "merchant.com.xxx") and register clients via Postman. At the moment, the certificates for the master merchant ID start to expire on July 11 which will affect all customers which is under Master ID. We know that when updating certificates at the identifier level(our master id), new universal identity certificate files that we use to send to the merchants (merchant_id.pem, privkey.key) will be generated for authentication on the merchant side, as well as a new keystore. Since many of our clients are integrated with current files and keystores and have live traffic, we would like to know—is it possible to update certificates on the master account without changing the keystores and certificate identities? The impossibility of this will entail a large gap when switching to new certificates. Thanks in advance for your answer.
