I’ve encountered a bug in Swift Playgrounds within “Learn to Code 2”, specifically in the “Variables: Seeking Seven Gems” section. No matter what I do—or even if I do nothing at all—an error always occurs.
I’ve tested this on both an iPad (9th generation) and an iPad Pro 11-inch (4th generation), and the issue happens on both devices.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to fix or work around it?
Thanks!

With iOS 18.3.1 in Playground there is a different view in TabView: in Preview the systemImage are visible and the TabView is visible under, instead launching the app the systemImage it is no longer visible. How can I solve it? Thank you
In Swift Playground 4.6.2 the package PlaygroundSupport is no longer available to Playground apps. The following test previously permitted apps run in the Playground vs compiled in XCode to support different behavior:
#if canImport(PlaygroundSupport)
container = NSPersistentContainer(name: "myApp", managedObjectModel: Self.createModel())
#else
container = NSPersistentCloudKitContainer(name: "myApp")
#endif
Since Swift Playground 4.6.2 the PlaygroundSupport package is no longer available for app projects in Playgrounds.
Is there a different compile type test which can be used to differentiate compilation for Swift Playground apps ?
I am currently having to use a runtime workaround (below) but would prefer a compile time test is an alternative is available.
public static var inPlayground: Bool {
if Bundle.allBundles.contains(where: { ($0.bundleIdentifier ?? "").contains("swift-playgrounds") }) {
return true
} else {
return false
}
}

I developed my app on xcode, and it builds fine for xcode on simulator. However, when I transferred the swiftpm file to my ipad, the playground failed to build with only the error message "Build failed", while preview on playgrounds works fine.
I am not sure what the cause of the error is, if anyone has any tips that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
After updating playgroud to the latest 4.6.3 version, the original sample app download interface disappeared. I tried many methods but couldn't find it again. How should I retrieve it again? Or was it deleted in this version?

第一次接触swift编程,swift playground里面编程入门挺简单的,因为英语也不好,不知道怎么入手了
Hi there, I'm currently learning how to write some code using Swift Playgrounds on my Mac, and I'm wondering if there's a way to install the code I create onto my iPhone, like a regular app.
I've searched online quite a bit but haven't found any clear or definitive answers.
Many resources mention a "Run on iPhone" option in Swift Playgrounds, but I don't see that button in my version. I even installed Xcode and connected my iPhone to my Mac, following the instructions I found, but the "Run on iPhone" option still doesn't appear in Playgrounds.
I've updated my Mac, iPhone, and Playgrounds to the latest version. Thank you for your help!

How can I enable "Extended Runtime Sessions" for a companion watch app? Here https://developer.apple.com/documentation/watchkit/using-extended-runtime-sessions
in targets under 'Signing & Capabilities' I checked "Audio" and Session Type 'Mindfulness',
I created an ExtendedRuntimeManager.swift file. When running a simulation the error message says
"Extended Runtime Session ungültig: Reason=-1, Error=This application does not have appropriate permissions to schedule a session."
How does the app get the 'appropriate permissions'?

Background Tasks
Hello the community, how are you?
Since few days, this messages displays as an error into my code: "The compiler is unable to type-check this expression in reasonable time; try breaking up the expression into distinct sub-expressions"
Since all these days, I'm not able to solve this problem. My app is almost done and the code is good. But I don't find where the problem is from.
Here's the block where the message appears:
var body: some View { //The compiler is unable to type-check this expression in reasonable time; try breaking up the expression into distinct sub-expressions
VStack {
TextField("Search invoices...", text: $searchText)
.padding(10)
.background(Color.gray.opacity(0.1))
.cornerRadius(10)
.padding(.horizontal)
HStack {
ForEach(BillFilter.allCases) { filter in
Button(action: {
selectedFilter = filter
}) {
Text(filter.rawValue)
.padding()
.background(selectedFilter == filter ? Color.accentColor : Color.gray.opacity(0.2))
.foregroundColor(selectedFilter == filter ? .white : .black)
.cornerRadius(8)
}
}
All the best,

Certain documentation seems to suggest I can submit a swift playground to the App Store. I am a paid $99 a year developer. In the submission process they ask for my team ID. I am not part of a team. I am an individual. However, my individual account has a team ID associated with it, but they don’t allow me to enter that number in the space provided. There is an * note saying some teams are not permitted to upload to the Apple store connect.
How do I, a paid up developer, submit a swift playgrounds app to the App Store?.
While demonstrating Swift Playground to my students, I noticed that, unlike Xcode, it doesn’t seem possible to predefine or insert custom code snippets. In Xcode, we can easily create and reuse our own code snippets to improve teaching and development efficiency, but I couldn’t find a similar feature in Swift Playground.
Is there currently a way to predefine or insert custom code snippets in Swift Playground? Are there any recommended workarounds, or plans to support this feature in the future? Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.
I clicked the “Get” button in the Swift tutorial, and it started displaying a circular progress bar. However, when the progress bar was full, it did not show that I could use this tutorial, but still display “Get”.
Device: iPad (7th)
System: iPadOS 18.3.2
App Version: 4.6.4
In swift playgrounds on my Mac I keep getting this message, “Keep Going with Apps” would like to access data from other apps. I click allow but it the message keeps popping back up.

Hi,
First post and I am a total newbie when it comes to Ipads & Macs... And also this forum, so sorry if I post in wrong section.
My son use Ipad at school and they use Swift Playground there.
To be able to do some programming at home, I have set up Vmware with Sequoia 15.1.
I installed the app Swift Playground and try to run the playground Get Started with Code and some other education playgrounds.
If I understand correctly, it should be some landscape and a figure on the canvas... For me it is only a blue area.
I installed XCode, but could not figure out how to run the learning examples there. Tips? Is it possible to run the education playgrounds there?
I removed Swift Playgrounds and installed it again, same issue.
I also installed IOS 18.1 (?) but I am not sure it is needed.
Any suggestion of how I can get contents to show on the canvas? Except of bying an Ipad. ;)

Can someone help me with this please…
I have two apps which I have updated and have just tried uploading them to the Appstore.
This troubles me because I am paid up to date…
What is the best course of action for me to resolve this please?
When I go to the App Settings menu in Swift Playgrounds and attempt to upload to App Store Connect, I run into the below error screen:
I am registered with the Apple Developer Program.
Swift Playgrounds is updated to its latest version.
This is occurring on both macOS and iPadOS.
All the information I put in is valid.
Any reason why this would be happening?

I am running Swift Playgrounds 4.51 under OSX 14.7 on a Mac mini M2 Pro.
Under App settings for my app, I select "Install on this Mac." I get an error "An error occurred during installation Please check Console.app for further information"
I can't find any entry in the console logs for this.
I have a personal (free) developer account.
Is there a way to create a Finder launchable app with Swift Playgrounds?
I found part of the problem. My main user that I use for "normal" activity does not have administrative rights. If I give that user administrative rights, the create app succeeds and the app is added to the global Applications folder.
Is there a way to have the app added to my User Application folder that then shouldn't require administrative access?
Thanks for the upgrade, the new project selection screen is nice and I’m happy that the SDK has been updated. But I notices some issues
Since update to 4.6
In an app project, if one of the file contains an error and I select another file. The error is not reported and the upper icon shows a checked mark as if the project contains no compilation errors.
Also, if I’m on the file that contains the error the upper icon turn in red (that is ok) but if I press the icon then the error message, the editor does not jump to the error
It was working fine on the previous version
(I use it on a iPad pro (A12Z) with the latest iPad OS version)

I use Swift Playgrounds on iPad to run an intro to programming class with high school students. I've created some custom playground books based on Apple's guides to provide some simple sandboxes to learn basic coding.
Students simply click a button on my website, which downloads my playground books so students can easily create new sandboxes.
With Swift Playgrounds 4.6.1 on both Mac and iPad, clicking the link only opens Swift Playgrounds and does not download my playground books! There used to be an "Add a Subscription URL" button, but it is no longer present on the Learn to Code page or anywhere else in the app that I can find:
Is it intentional that this functionality is removed? Playground Books still appear to work, and documentation for subscription feeds is still available.
I start another session with my students next Monday, so I need to know as soon as possible whether I need to plan to work around this myself.
Thanks,
Mark Schmidt
