Can't access C/C++ basic libraries
Hello, I am a software engineer student and I have recently been getting problems on my Mac regarding the C/C++ libraries. I have used my macbook for uni work for months, but around 3 or 4 months ago my macbook could not compile my work since it couldnt find the basic libraries I was using. For example, iostream. I have been using VSCode, and what it exactly says is "cannot open source file "iostream". Please run the 'Select IntelliSense Configuration...' command to locate your system headers." I have tried researching, changing the include path, even using chatgpt, and nothing. Is anyone having this same problem, or is able to help me? If any other information is needed, please let me know!

Strange values written in loop
I don't understand what's happening when I save values via a loop. I initialize an array with default values, then run a loop to assign calculated values to it. In the middle of the loop, I print values, then print values again after the loop is over. The array values sometimes change, even though nothing has been written between print calls (when they change, the values are equal the last value in the array, index 49). I made a test file which writes four types of values to an array: (1) A new class instance, (2) Calculation, (3) Variable, (4) Hard-code. Trace/BPT trap in very simple C code compiled with clang
I wonder if this is correct behavior. I was surprised to get this result when compiling and running the following C code with Apple clang version 14.0.0 (clang-1400.0.29.102) target arm64-apple-darwin21.6.0 on a M1 Pro 12.7.6 with cc -O2 file.c: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> unsigned long long factorial(int n) { unsigned long long fac = 1; while (n > 0) fac *= n; return fac; } int main() { return factorial(1); } Compiling with -O2 and running this code gives "Trace/BPT trap". But a breakpoint trap is triggered at the return statement. The code should just hang in the loop IMO, not trap, because it never updates variable n (a correct factorial function should decrement n). Never seen this before (not since I started wiring C code in the 80s.) If I change the update *= into += then there is no trap.

Odd Echo Output From Shell Script

It just dumps the network config into a file. At some point I will have the file emailed out, but right now I'm just trying to figure out why the output looks like the following? bash ./test.sh .etwork info written to file: network.26-01-25.info.txt .lease email this file to: email Why in the world does the initial character of the last couple of "echo" commands get clipped and turned into periods? The echos for the output of the commands piped into the output file are fine. Strange... Any ideas?

Passing string between Swift and C++
I want to understand what the recommended way is for string interoperability between swift and c++. Below are the 3 ways to achieve it. Approach 2 is not allowed at work due to restrictions with using std libraries. Swift OpenAPI Generator Error
PLATFORM AND VERSION iOS Development environment: Xcode 26, macOS 26 Run-time configuration: iOS 18 and up DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM I am on the beta version of os 26 for both Xcode and macOS. When I try to run my project, which has the Swift OpenAPI Generator from apple, it gives the error "unsupported configuration: the aggregate target 'OpenAPIGenerator' has package dependencies, but targets that build for different platforms depend on it" STEPS TO REPRODUCE Install macOS 26 and Xcode 26 and try running an iOS app built for iOS 18.0 and up wit the OpenAPIGenerator package on a physical iPhone running iOS 26

Best way to learn Swift
Hi I'm new here - I'm trying to learn Swift and SwiftUI. Tried on PluralSight and Udemy but they have been outdated and thus hard to follow. So after finding Apples own guides I felt relieved and happy, but now I'm stuck again. After they've updated Xcode to use #Preview instead of PreviewProvider it's hard to follow along on their tutorial. Does anyone know of good resources to study SwiftUI? Or know if apple plan to update their tutorials any time soon? Undefined symbols for architecture x86_64:
I am developing a simple camera JNI interface program in Objc. I managed to compile. But I get the following link error. I use the following command. Is there anything I can add to solve this problem? array.contains(where: ...) returns true in debugger console, but false in application
I am encountering a strange issue. I have a class that manages a selection of generic items T in an Array. The if is always executed, even if multiSelectedItems contains the given item. Now, my first thought would be to suspect the static func == check. But that check works fine and does what it should do. Equality is defined by the whole fileURL. So, the if should have worked. And If I put a breakpoint in func addToSelection on the if, and type po multiSelectedItems.contains(where: { $0 == item }) in the debug console, it actually returns true if the item is in multiSelectedItems. And it properly return false if the item is not in multiSelectedItems. Still, if I then continue stepping through the app after the breakpoint was hit and I confirmed that the contains should return true, the app still goes into the if, and adds a duplicate item. I tried assigning to a variable, I tried using a function and returning the true/false. Nothing helps. Does anyone have an idea on why the debugger shows one (the correct and expected) thing but the actual code still does something different?

Overall Code Structure Of Swift Project
I was a long time C# programmer, and recently started learning Rust. Now that I recently purchased my first Mac, I ran into several issues trying to run binaries on the Mac, due to various restrictions. On another forum post here, it was mentioned that I should take a look at Swift, as a development tool. This comment brings up an entirely new topic for me, as I discovered that the Swift project file structure seems daunting. But first let's backtrack to when I used C#. C# The first graphic show the default file structure that I used to start a new C# project. I would copy this entire folder structure to the clipboard and paste it where my new project folder was located, and start coding. Using this same principle, I wrote my own music player, and again the file structure for the entire project was as below. For those that may not know, the "bin" folder contains both debug and release folders and appropriate contents. Swift I created a Windows UI called "Test" using Swift, and then started poking around the file system, trying to determine the file structure that was created. Unbeknownst to me at the time, part of the project files ended up on the Desktop in a folder called Test. I did not expect Swift to place the files there. When I click on the Test folder and look inside, I see a file with a "xcodeproj" extension, which makes sense to me, as this is similar to C#. What I don't see however, is any file labeled Test.App. I also don't see either debug or release folders for this project. Obviously there are additional files for this project that are "somewhere", just not in a location I am aware of.

cell.textLabel?.text breaking if a number value is in an array

Please could someone tell me how to make it work with the numbers stored as numbers? Execute Swift scripts dynamically in iOS
I have a transformation function that takes in data, executes some instructions, and returns an output. This function is dynamic and not shipped with the binary. Currently, I’m executing it using JavaScriptCore.JSContext, which works well, but the function itself is written in JavaScript. Is there a way to achieve something similar using Swift – such as executing a dynamic Swift script, either directly or through other means? I know this is possible on macOS, but I’m not sure about iOS. I’ve also heard that extensions might open up some possibilities here. Any insights or alternative approaches would be appreciated.

Swift 6 crash calling requestAutomaticPassPresentationSuppression
I found a similar problem here https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/764777 and I could solve my problem by wrapping the call to requestAutomaticPassPresentationSuppression in a call to DispatchQueue.global().async. But my question is if this is really how things should work. Even with strict concurrency warnings in Swift 6 I don't get any warnings. Just a runtime crash. How are we supposed to find these problems? Couldn't the compiler assist with a warning/error. Why does the compiler make the assumptions it does about the method that is declared like this: @available(iOS 9.0, *) open class func requestAutomaticPassPresentationSuppression(responseHandler: @escaping (PKAutomaticPassPresentationSuppressionResult) -> Void) -> PKSuppressionRequestToken Now that we have migrated to Swift 6 our code base contains a bunch of unknown places where it will crash as above.

Common blocks in Swift?
I am porting an old app from ObjC. The app uses many defined constants such as: #define COM_OFFSET 12.5 and many variables that are read and/or written throughout the App, such as: PCDate* Dates[367]; @class PCMainView; PCMainView* MainView; in one file called "PCCommon.h" How do I duplicate this function in Swift? I have looked around and have found no help. Thanks in advance.

CGSWindowShmemCreateWithPort log message
After ther Mac application is launched: Log error: CGSWindowShmemCreateWithPort failed on port 0 and when the application quit: No error handler for XPC error: Connection invalid Appear with Xcode 15.4 but not with 12.4 As repported by Steve4442 in "Can someone explain this message" https://Forums.Developer.Apple.com/Forums/Thread/727803 . The code don't use "windowNumbersWithOptions" Can I ignore this log message ?

NSPredicate return wrong result
NSPredicate(format: "SELF MATCHES %@", "^[0-9A-Z]+$").evaluate(with: "126𝒥ℰℬℬ𝒢𝒦𝒮33") Returns true, and I don't know why. 𝒥ℰℬℬ𝒢𝒦𝒮 is not between 0-9 and A-Z, and why it returns true? How to avoid similar problem like this when using NSPredicate?

Widget Intent Configuration doesn't work in Swift 6
macOS: Sequoia Xcode: 16.1 I am working on a macOS app and it has a widget feature. When I use Swift 6 (Build Settings > Swift Language Version) in IntentExtension, the intent configuration won't show up in macOS Sequoia. If I downgrade to Swift 5, it works without any other changes. Is it a bug or am I missing something? How can I use Swift 6 with IntentExtension.
