C++ and Swift in Xcode 16 broke my audio unit
I'm developing an audio unit for use on iOS. The AUv3 worked fine with xcode 15.X and swift 5.X. I recently tried to submit an update to my plug-in but Apple refused submission because my Xcode was not the latest. Now that I'm on Xcode 16.4 I can't get my project to compile, even when following all of the same previous steps. As one example of a change, Xcode doesn't appear to include the “C++ and Objective-C interoperability” build setting that it used to. This setting is noted in the Swift documentation and I used to need it, https://www.swift.org/documentation/cxx-interop/project-build-setup/#mixing-swift-and-c-using-xcode Currently my C++ code can't see anything from Swift, and I get a "Use of undeclared identifier 'project_name'". I've selected Switch support for version 5.0 in an attempt to minimize changes from Apple. My process is I generate an Xcode project file from my audio plugin support, JUCE. Then I add in the swift files, click yes to create bridging headers, but c++ doesn't see swift anymore. I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Crash in libswiftCore with swift::RefCounts
I'm seeing somewhat regular crash reports from my app which appear to be deep in the Swift libraries. They're happening in the same spot, so I'm apt to believe something is likely getting deallocated behind the scenes - but I don't really know how to guard against it. json array shows in debugger but can't parse

Timeline refresh issue for widget on ios 18.2

I expect to show view1 immediately and view2 6 seconds later. You get the correct response on iOS17. But the 6 second delay function on the discovery code in iOS18.2 takes effect immediately, view1 flashes, view2 appears immediately instead of waiting 6 seconds to appear.

Include swift class as an Instance variable in a C++ class
Is there a way to achieve the following using C++/Swift interoperability: class MyCppClass { public: ... ... private: bool member1; ACppClass member2; ASwiftClass member3; } I'm aware of the recent C++/Objective-C interoperability compiler setting, but can't find any information on whether this is possible. I've watched the Apple video: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10172/ and seen this post from Quinn: https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/768928 but I don't see anyone discussing this kind of situation. Thanks in advance.

Cast Any to Sendable
I'm continuing with the migration towards Swift 6. Within one of our libraries, I want to check whether a parameter object: Any? confirms to Sendable. I tried the most obvious one: if let sendable = object as? Sendable { } But that results into the compiler error "Marker protocol 'Sendable' cannot be used in a conditional cast". Is there an other way to do this?

App sometimes crashes when inserting String into Set with assertion ELEMENT_TYPE_OF_SET_VIOLATES_HASHABLE_REQUIREMENTS
Xcode downloaded a crash report for my app that crashed when trying to insert a String into a Set<String>. Apparently there was an assertion failure ELEMENT_TYPE_OF_SET_VIOLATES_HASHABLE_REQUIREMENTS. I assume that this assertion failure happened because the hash of the new element didn't match the hash of an equal already inserted element, but regardless, I don't understand how inserting a simple string could trigger this assertion. Help Understanding Concurrency Error with Protocol Listener and Actor

Crash when Mutating Array of Tuples with String Property from Multiple Threads
Hi Apple Developer Community, I'm facing a crash when updating an array of tuples from both a background thread and the main thread simultaneously. Why is the crash avoided when the tuple contains only primitive types like Int? Is there an underlying memory management issue with value types containing reference types like String? Any explanation about this behavior and best practices for thread-safe mutation of such arrays would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How to save a point cloud in the sample code "Capturing depth using the LiDAR camera" with the photoOutput
Hello dear community, I have the sample code from Apple “CapturingDepthUsingLiDAR” to access the LiDAR on my iPhone 12 Pro. My goal is to use the “photo output” function to generate a point cloud from a single image and then save it as a ply file. So far I have tested different approaches to create a .ply file from the depthmap, the intrinsic camera data and the rgba values. Unfortunately, I have had no success so far and the result has always been an incorrect point cloud. My question now is whether there are already approaches to this and whether anyone has any experience with it. Thank you very much in advance!!!

Link to a Precompiled Static C Library in a Swift Library Package
I want to build a Swift library package that uses modified build of OpenSSL and Curl. I have already statically compiled both and verified I can use them in an Objective-C framework on my target platform (iOS & iOS Simulator). I'm using XCFramework files that contain the static library binaries and headers: openssl.xcframework/ ios-arm64/ openssl.framework/ Headers/ [...] openssl ios-arm64_x86_64-simulator/ openssl.framework/ Headers/ [...] openssl Info.plist I'm not sure how I'm supposed to set up my Swift package to import these libraries. I can use .systemLibrary but that seems to use the embedded copies of libssl and libcurl on my system, and I can't figure out how to use the path: parameter to that. I also tried using a .binaryTarget pointing to the XCFramework files, but that didn't seem to work as there is no module generated and I'm not sure how to make one myself. At a basic high level, this is what I'm trying to accomplish: where libcrypto & libssl come from the provided openssl.xcframework file, and libcurl from curl.xcframework

Basic c++ main xcodeproj call to swift struct
I can't find any simple c++ xcodeproj call to swift struct using modern c++ swift mix. there is the fibonacci example that is swift app call to c++. Base on fibonacci example I create new simple project and fail to build it with error when I try to include #include <SwiftMixTester/SwiftMixTester-Swift.h> What is wrong? Is it the right place to ask this? Any work project link? Xcode 26.

Questions about calculate the square root using Accelerate
I am currently studying the Accelerate library by referring to Apple documentation. Using a calculator, the value comes out as 82.07932139, which shows that the result from vForce is incorrect. Could you explain the reason behind this difference?

How to Create Applications with Objective-C Without ARC
I've been teaching myself Objective-C and I wanted to start creating projects that don't use ARC to become better at memory management and learn how it all works. I've been attempting to build and run applications, but I'm not really sure where to start as modern iOS development is used with Swift and memory management is handled. Is there any way to create modern applications that use Objective-C, UIKit, and not use ARC?

Strange values written in loop
I don't understand what's happening when I save values via a loop. I initialize an array with default values, then run a loop to assign calculated values to it. In the middle of the loop, I print values, then print values again after the loop is over. The array values sometimes change, even though nothing has been written between print calls (when they change, the values are equal the last value in the array, index 49). I made a test file which writes four types of values to an array: (1) A new class instance, (2) Calculation, (3) Variable, (4) Hard-code. Manually calling the superclass's dealloc in the overridden dealloc method causes a crash
I have a class object created dynamically using Runtime, and I want to release some manually allocated memory resources when this object is deallocated. To achieve this, I added a custom implementation of the dealloc method using the following code: SEL aSel = NSSelectorFromString(@"dealloc"); class_addMethod(kvoClass, aSel, (IMP)custom_dealloc, method_getTypeEncoding(class_getInstanceMethod(kvoClass, aSel))); However, I encountered some issues. If I don't call the superclass's dealloc method in the cus_dealloc function, the superclass's dealloc implementation will not be executed. On the other hand, if I explicitly call the superclass's dealloc method, the program crashes. Can't access C/C++ basic libraries
Hello, I am a software engineer student and I have recently been getting problems on my Mac regarding the C/C++ libraries. I have used my macbook for uni work for months, but around 3 or 4 months ago my macbook could not compile my work since it couldnt find the basic libraries I was using. For example, iostream. I have been using VSCode, and what it exactly says is "cannot open source file "iostream". Please run the 'Select IntelliSense Configuration...' command to locate your system headers." I have tried researching, changing the include path, even using chatgpt, and nothing. Is anyone having this same problem, or is able to help me? If any other information is needed, please let me know!
