I have an endpoint that generates a .ics file. From my mobile app, I open the browser (Safari) and retrieve the .ics file. In Safari, the events are displayed as expected, and I can use the "Add All" button to add them to the calendar. After clicking "Add All," I can select the desired calendar, and the events are successfully added (see screenshots 1 and 2 below).
Here’s the initial .ics file response:

I updated everything according to the iCalendar documentation:
UID remained unchanged
SEQUENCE has been updated
DTSTAMP has been updated
LAST-MODIFIED has been updated
However it seems like that Safari can't handle updates on events.
In the preview we can see the changes, but when I click on "Add All" button, nothing happens.
The same behavior is working with other calendars like Outlook (web view) or Google Calendar.
My Questions:
Is there a property missing from my .ics file that is necessary for iOS Safari to handle updates?
Is Safari not designed to handle event updates in this way?
Should I consider moving to a subscription-based solution to manage updates more reliably?
Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Our UI-less share extension (com.apple.services) appears in Safari and Chrome. We raise a popup "Open in (app)..." via the Action.js script document.location.href = urlScheme://... in Safari.
However, in Chrome, while our extension executes, parses the URL item attachment from Chrome, it never triggers that popup or opens our app.
How can a UI-less share extension open our app from Chrome?
Is the accepted practice, despite guidelines, turning the com.apple.ui-services view controller invisible and auto-openURLing? Several apps on the store appear to do this, immediately popping their app without any confirmation dialog or UI in both Safari and Chrome. https://stackoverflow.com/a/79369242
The app analytics tab for my account is empty. It doesn't show any bundle IDs or apps that have been launched. Is this normal for WatchOS apps?

I've a apple pay integration on my website. The new sdk, that allows third party browsers.
My integration works well everywhere, except on third party when I read the QR code it results in a "payment incomplete".
I have gone through several threads in apple dev forums, and several guides on implementation steps and troubleshooting. But I'm still without solution.
When Debugging in iOS device I get: "Application failed to provide a valid merchant session. We can't proceed to authorize the transaction."
I've doublechecked, the values I send to create the payment Session are correct, the domain and merchantIds. (It works well with the same implementation on safari, what's the difference here?)
I've also doublechecked the values i'm sending to the completeMerchantValidation, and they are all in the right format and types.
What else can iIcheck?

I'm currently experimenting to add 3d stereo images in HEIC format to my daily Mars Rover Images website https://areo.info/mars20 which can be opened on a Vision Pro. Only a few images are yet converted into that mode, those on the sol 1411 page.
As I'm currently only working in the Vision Pro Simulator from Xcode, no real 3d effect if of course visible and I'm curious if anyone using the real hardware can confirm that the images are working.
Especially the eye distance correction is important to know about as the Mars Rover camera has a much wider pupil distance than humans and while I entered that distance in the conversion tool, I'm not sure if it worked well. So feedback is welcome!
For those who like to try to create stereo images themselves: I used https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ImageIO/writing-spatial-photos to create a HEIC file from two JPEGs.

This is generated in the onvalidatemerchant event handler, and passed into session.completeMerchantValidation.
Using a sandbox account with linked cards, the next thing that happens is a "payment not completed" message in the ApplePay popup on the page, and the oncancel event is hit
Inspecting the event, I don't see anything that hints at the issue. There is a sessionError object, but its code is "unknown" and the info object is empty.

Hello Apple Developer Team,
I would love to see iCloud Keychain Autofill and Touch ID support extended to Chromium-based browsers on macOS (such as Ecosia, Brave, or Vivaldi).
Currently, Safari allows autofill of passwords using Touch ID, but when using other browsers, I have to manually copy-paste credentials from Keychain Access, which is time-consuming.
Would it be possible for Apple to provide an API or framework that allows non-WebKit browsers to integrate iCloud Keychain autofill while keeping security intact?
This feature would make macOS more convenient for users who prefer alternative browsers while keeping security standards high.
Thanks in advance for considering this!
Best regards, Kilian
We have an app store app that hosts an internal webserver we use as a proxy and it works for a period until iOS 18.3.x decides our cert is no longer valid at which point our customer have reinstall the app. This has only become a problem on iOS18.3. We publish the self-signed with out app, and it is valid and accepted until it's not. We know the cert is valid and our implementation of the local proxy has not changed. If we install a cert on the device and trust it, then the app will start behaving normally again without reinstall. We have replicated this locally and the error we are seeing is:

After reading several posts I see that I need to add the "com.apple.developer.web-browser.public-key-credential" capability to my macOS app in order to get it to work.
So my noob question is where do I request this capability? Can I as a developer request it or does the Account owner need to request it?
Once approved, how do I add it to my app's capabilities?
Thanks for your patience
Upon upgrading to 18.3 safari now says no connection

While implementing Apple Maps into our web application, I have a scenario where I want to be able to drag and move some of my custom annotations around. While that is working, when "picking up" the annotation before dragging it, there is an animation which I believe is to represent the human interaction of picking up a pin from a map, I would like to cancel that animation and thought that would be possible by calling preventDefault() in the emitted long-press event, which the documentation states that annotations should emit if they are draggable. The thing is that I don't get this event to emit when long pressing an annotation. So I believe that I have found a bug.
It's in this paragraph in the documentation https://developer.apple.com/documentation/mapkitjs/handling-map-events#Respond-to-map-interaction-events
A long press occurs on the map outside an annotation. A long press may be the beginning of a panning or pinching gesture on the map. You can prevent the gesture from starting by calling the preventDefault() method of the event. Annotations need to be draggable to dispatch long-press events.
In anybody else experiencing this or do you see any clear fix for this? Maybe there is another way to cancel that "picking up the annotation for dragging" animation. I have seemed to try anything else.
I have a very specific issue that happens only on iOS Simulator version 18.4.
It does NOT happen when I run my app on a real iOS 18.4 device through Testflight.
My app displays a WebView (courtesy of Capacitor, url scheme capacitor://).
Inside that Webview I'm using Firebase JS API (11.2.0) and calling signInWithEmailAndPassword, which works well in all other contexts, i.e. browser, Android webview, iOS webview in all other Simulator versions, and on real devices.
Only when running in Simulator 18.4, I get a failed network request:
cannot parse response
Fetch API cannot load https://identitytoolkit.googleapis.com/v1/accounts:signInWithPassword?... due to access control checks.
Failed to load resource: cannot parse reponse
error: FirebaseError: (auth/network-request-failed)
Everything is working correctly for both:
Capacitor app webview installed on a real 18.4 device with Testflight
Safari (non-webview) in the 18.4 Simulator
The issue is severe for us, because we are unable to develop our app and test it in the simulator on 18.4 Simulator before pushing it through Testflight internal release.
Request headers on the failed request (no response status or headers available).

Hello,
I am developing a website which starts a web worker using the js code:
const zarrWorker = new Worker('./zarr_file.js', { type: 'module' });.
The script 'zarr_file.js' is served from the same origin with Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy: require-corp and Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy: same-origin and it is importing external modules through the import statement (e.g. import * as zarr from "https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/zarrita/+esm";).
All the external modules are blocked by Safari with the error Worker load was blocked by Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy, although I can see (by running curl on them) that they correctly set cross-origin-resource-policy: cross-origin`.
The same website works fine in Chrome and Firefox.
Is it a bug or is Safari implementing stricter policies? In the latter case what would be the solution?
HI, please can someone help?
I have a web app where push notifications are in place for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Providing the user allows notifications then when they log in for the first time their details are registered to the subscriptions table in the backend. All good so far.
When trying to do the same with Safari on Mac I'm faced with this issue:
"Safari doesn’t support invisible push notifications. Present push notifications to the user immediately after your service worker receives them. If you don’t, Safari revokes the push notification permission for your site."
and the user is not registered in the subscription table with the Safari console just saying variations of this:
[Warning] Notification permission denied. (notifications_frontend.js, line 177, x2)
[Log] Enable Notifications button clicked (notifications_frontend.js, line 245)
[Log] Safari Push Notifications detected (notifications_frontend.js, line 248)
[Warning] Safari Push Permission denied. (notifications_frontend.js, line 278)
I've found this on an another forrum:
"Safari requires that you immediately post a notification when a push message is received. "Immediately" means that it cannot be after some async operation.
If you display a notification immediately from the service worker itself, it will stop displaying that error. I cannot remember 100% but I think if you clear your cache and cookies you will be able to receive push messages again if you accidentally get blocked while testing."
and I've tried adding buttons to trigger allowing notifications but it all seem to late to get the subscription registered in the subscription table.
I'm pretty new to coding so if any has a similar experience and can advice how to get the subscriptions registered when the user logs on for the first time in Safari in a Mac it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...
An Administrator account is executing safaridriver --enable but it doesn't apply to other standard user accounts and standard accounts can't enable it directly. Is this expected behavior? How can standard users make use of safaridriver?
I'm not sure if this is even the right place to ask this, or voice this complaint if there's no fix. If not, please direct me where to go.
I'm trying to switch all my development over to Safari, but the tab sidebar is driving me absolutely insane.
Let's say I have a bunch of tab groups expanded, and I collapse the sidebar to focus on the webapp I am building. When I toggle to show the sidebar again, every single tab group is collapsed.
Why is it 2 clicks to see the tabs in the sidebar?
Even with zero tab groups, and just tabs in the workspace, if you collapse the sidebar it'll collapse the list of tabs.
Is there some hidden setting for this? Who do we have to complain to?

• Device: any iPhone running iOS 26 Developer Beta 5 (23A5308g)
• Xcode: 16.3
Short description
The app crashes the moment the user tries to long-press to select text inside a WKWebView, double-tap an image with Text (magnifier appears)
The exception is CALayer position contains NaN. frame = (nan,0;0,48) chorPoint=(inf, 0) and it is thrown in the UI process.
Build & run any project that hosts a WKWebView. Inject the following CSS via script (this is what we do to suppress the native callout menu):
WKWebView *webView = [[WKWebView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds
configuration:[WKWebViewConfiguration new]];
NSString *js =
@"document.documentElement.style.webkitUserSelect='none';"
"document.documentElement.style.webkitTouchCallout='none';";
[webView evaluateJavaScript:js completionHandler:nil];
[self.view addSubview:webView];
